Chosen answer: First of all, Stryker was in "X2", not 3. Secondly, Wade was never his son. Stryker only has one son, named Jason. In this movie he can be seen encased in ice (to protect people from him), but it is obviously him (note his eye colour - one brown, one blue). It's far from unthinkable that sometime between this movie and "X2", his father's experiments on him put Jason in a wheelchair.

Question: One of the trivia entries states that after the credits there's a scene with Wolverine in it. Yet, one of the question's answers (and the clip I saw) states the scene is of Weapon XI. Are there different endings to this movie, or is the trivia wrong?

mechanical sponge

Chosen answer: There are two additional scenes after the credits, one with Wolverine and one with Deadpool. Which one you get to see depends on which theatre you are in at the time.

X-Men (2000)

Question: During the Statue of Liberty scene, Magneto is clearly seen to be manipulating the copper inside the statue to bind and tie up the X-Men. How can this be? I thought magnetism wouldn't work on a non ferromagnetic metal.

MovieBuff09

Chosen answer: True, but Magneto's power is not EXACTLY the same as magnetism. He can manipulate ANY metal, ferrous and non-ferrous alike. It's just handy to refer to it as "magnetism".

Twotall

Answer: Well if he can control ANY metal...why did he have to wait for the guard to be injected with iron? Couldn't he take iron out of food or water? Or even his own body?

The way he took iron out of the Guard, that seemed very painful and it looks like the guard did not survive. So, taking it out of his own body would not have been the smartest of decisions. He needed to wait for the guard to be injected so he could have enough iron to take out to then turn into a weapon, and transportation.

X-Men (2000)

Chosen answer: He and Xavier has been keeping track of mutants for years, in part by using Cerebro (as seen in X2: X-Men United). And as Logan is a very powerful mutant, as well as part of a government-funded project (which leaves a paper trail), they would definitely know of him and would have collected as much data as possible about him. When Magneto then detected his adamantium skeleton, it was easy to deduce Logan's identity.

Watchmen (2009)

Question: I've just finished reading the Graphic Novel and I was just wondering, since Synder did such a faithful adaption why did he include super-powers to the heroes in the film, since the heroes in the comic don't have any.

Answer: What makes you think he did? None of them display any more powers or special abilities than what is shown in the graphic novel. Some of these might be exaggerated (Rorschach walking in the Arctic wearing only his trenchcoat, for instance), but as this is shown in the novel as well, you can not say that Snyder changed this in his adaptation.

Chosen answer: He is saying that when Silver thinks about using the wheel kick, it is revealed by something in his stance or technique beforehand, so his opponent will have plenty of time to block, evade or counter-attack the kick. It is a fairly common expression in sports, but particularly in martial arts.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Question: Anna Ramirez tells Jim Gordon that the Joker card pinned to the fake Batman's body has three sets of DNA on it: Judge Surrillo's, Commissioner Loeb's and Harvey Dent's. So they go and make sure of their safety while ordering Wuertz to find Dent (who is incidentally working for the Joker). But while Dent is speaking to Rachael, Bruce knocks him unconscious and hides him in a broom cupboard. How did Bruce know that The Joker was targeting Dent? He had no contact with Jim Gordon as he was not in the Batsuit. Did he just randomly anticipate the Joker's threat on Dent?

Answer: Bruce was very likely keeping an eye on the security from the building and possibly the police scanners. The benefit he was hosting had all the high profile people attending from Gotham, including Harvey Dent. There was a good chance Joker would crash it, and even listening to police frequency for a few seconds would have given Batman enough notice that something was very wrong and that Harvey was in danger. Ultimately, they don't show how he knew, so there is no way to know for sure besides saying - he is Batman, the world's greatest detective.

oldbaldyone

Answer: They are at a fundraiser for Harvey Dent (who is by the way NOT working for the Joker at all!). It is not a long stretch to assume that when armed terrorists come storming into the fundraiser, that Dent will be a major target for them, if not the prime one. Bruce simply does not take the chance to wait and find out if it's a robbery or an assassination attempt, but gets Dent to safety at once.

Twotall

I think he meant that Wertz was working for the Joker.

As someone else pointed out, you misunderstood the original question. The statement was that Wuertz was working for the joker. You also haven't explained why Bruce knew *anything* about an impending attack... He grabbed Sent before the bad guys entered the penthouse. I guess he must've gotten an alert from a security camera or something.

General questions

I am looking for the name of a movie. It was some sort of fighting movie and the only thing I can remember is a little boy that was tied up and hanging over some sort of well. It was a lady standing there, and the bad guy holding the rope. The little boy slips off his shoe so that the lady can see how much time she has to fight all the bad guys before she has to grab the end of the rope before the little boy hits the bottom. She then fights all the bad guys and catches the rope in the nick of time.

Answer: That's "Ultraviolet", starring Milla Jovovich. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0370032/.

Quantum of Solace (2008)

Question: What is that on Camille's back? The first time we see her, it looks like a bit of sand, but then it's still there in later scenes. Is it intentional, as I don't believe that the actress has that on her back?

Answer: They are scars. She got them when she was trapped in the burning building with her dead family.

Answer: Olga Kurylenko had laser surgery performed just prior to filming to remove a tattoo. It was worked into the film as being caused by the general, years earlier, when her parents had been killed.

Question: Can someone please explain to me the whole Rohan/Gondor relationship? I keep hearing that what is now Rohan was given to those who are now the Rohirrim by the king of Gondor.

Answer: That's true. The Rohirrim were a tribe of Northmen that had more or less settled just outside of Gondor. During an invasion by orcs and Easterlings in 2509, the steward of Gondor sent word to them and asked for help. Their leader, Eorl the Young, led the Rohirrim to the Fields of Celebrant, where they completely destroyed the orc army. In gratitude, the steward of Gondor gave them a large area of land as their own kingdom, that had more or less been depopulated by plague and the latest war. So Rohan and Gondor have had close ties and been allies ever since.

Question: At the end of the movie, just before the casting comes up, there is a flash and they show something for fraction of a second. What is it ?

Answer: It's a picture of a penis. It reflects how Tyler used to slice in frames of "adult" material into children's movies, to give people a little shock without them really knowing what it was had happened.

Question: Regarding Paul and Eli. Are they actually twin brothers or is Paul an figment of Eli's imagination and Eli schizophrenic? As far as I remember Paul is only mentioned three times. At the beginning when he meets Daniel, when Eli attacks his father (and says 'you are as stupid as Paul!' and at the end, when Daniel mentions him. Are there any other bits I've missed? Or is it left open to interpretation?

Answer: There is nothing in the film to suggest anything other than that they are brothers. Paul sells out his family, takes the money and goes away. It is only natural that they would not want to speak of him later on. Daniel on the other hand, keeps a certain track on Paul, especially since he also got into the oil business and became a minor competitor to Daniel.

Question: When the old Biff gives the Sports Almanac to his younger self, he cautions him that in the future, a teenage kid and an old man claiming to be a scientist will ask him about that book. The old Biff surely knew who they were; why didn't he give his younger self their names, Marty McFly and Doctor Emmet Brown?

Allister Cooper, 2011

Chosen answer: Old Biff did not count on his young version to be able to remember names. He knew what he was like at that age, and knows that young Biff with his short attention span and hotheaded nature would not be prone to remember much details, so he leaves them out.

The Dark Knight (2008)

Question: In the scene where Reese is asking Lucius Fox for 10 million dollars to keep Batmans ID secret, why did Reese change his mind? What part of Lucius Fox's dialogue made Reese hesitate and change his mind?

Answer: Fox subtly pointed out that Batman/Bruce Wayne is an individual who would not respond well to blackmail. Wayne is extremely rich and powerful, and could crush Reese financially and socially without ever leaving his office, and his Batman side is a violent vigilante who would not hesitate to beat the tar out of criminals, such as blackmailers. Fox simply made Reese realize what a bad idea it would be to anger either of the two personas, and a terrible idea to attack both of them.

Jason X (2001)

Question: When Professor Lowe calls Dieter Perez to tell him about his findings on Earth 1, Perez makes note that one of the viables was named Vorhees and deduced it was Jason Vorhees. My question was how did Lowe know it was named Vorhees? 1) Rowan at the beginning acknowledged she had yet to prep the chamber which means no paperwork. 2) The students found no paperwork when they found the chamber and had no time to look for paperwork once they realized they needed to get Rowan to a lab to save her right away. 3) Rowan did not give him Jason's name when she first woke up. This is obvious in the scene after Lowe talked with Perez he was talking to Rowan and she brought up the story about Jason and he acted like he never heard the name before. So how did he get Jason's name for his report to Perez?

SAZOO1975

Chosen answer: There is a certain difference between filling out paperwork and preparing a chamber for cryogenic freeze. Rowan may have reserved the cryo chamber for Jason, filled out the forms and put his tag on it, but she had yet to prep it properly (check that every detail was in working order, maybe run a test, re-check, etc). So there may have been a tag on the chamber with the name "Vorhees" on it, Rowan just did not think of this as "prepping".

Hancock (2008)

Question: Why did Hancock end up having to go to New York to prevent his and Mary's powers from weakening? They had lived in L.A. all that time without it being a problem. Mary new he existed since his drunken heroics were always caught on tape or recorded (YouTube), and Nancy Grace even knew who he was.

Answer: True, Mary knew he existed - but he didn't know about her. It was only after both of them became aware of one another that the mutual attraction set in. Besides this, before they met, Hancock was an alcoholic bum living on the streets, scorned and ridiculed by everyone. When he was in that state, it would be a lot easier for Mary to keep her (possible) attraction to him in check.
