Smallville (2001)

Shimmer - S1-E10

Corrected entry: Clark realizes that Amy stole Lex's watch when he sees her wearing it. He and Lex then search Amy's room with her mother and find the watch. Amy wears the watch as a token of her obsession and would not take it off lightly, even if she had returned home and left again. (00:31:45 - 00:32:50)

Phoenix

Correction: This is your opinion on a character decision. We do not know why she took it off, but she did.

Pitch Black (2000)

Corrected entry: Fry is not holding a glow slug bottle when she is waiting for Riddick at the spaceship (no light visible on her arms and body). After she hears him scream, she dashes off and suddenly acquires one.

Phoenix

Correction: When Fry is getting Jack and Imam on the plane after rescuing them, she has a the "glow worm" bottle in her right hand. She hears Riddick yell and runs towards the camera so there is just a shot of her from her shoulders up. The bottle is down at her hips. It is possible with the lights from the plane that you just don't see the light from the bottle.

Godzilla (1998)

Corrected entry: How did Godzilla deposit eggs in Madison Square Garden? It's obviously much too small for her to fit in. Almost all of the eggs are in the central dome, yet when our heroes are running around there is never any indication of a large hole Godzilla could reach through to place them inside.

Phoenix

Correction: The hole Godzilla used to get in there is the one that the humans climb up to get in Madison Square Garden. You even see Animal looking up the hole when he notices the MSG sign.

Dark City (1998)

Corrected entry: When Murdoch is bitten by the childlike Stranger and is hanging out of the building, he leaps to the rising chimney. As he ascends on the chimney, the blood on his right hand disappears. (01:00:10)

Phoenix

Correction: The blood on his hand is visible throughout the shot. The only time you can't see it is when the shot is very far away, when you can't tell if it's there or not.

Dark City (1998)

Corrected entry: When Schreber goes with the Strangers to Tune the poor family into the rich family, the Strangers are carrying clothing to dress the family in. If their Tuning is able to change the physical construction of inanimate objects such as buildings, why would they not simply Tune the couple's clothes to something more fitting? Obviously it's not for lack of control - they Tune the table much longer very quickly without knocking over any of the objects on it.

Phoenix

Correction: We know nothing of their procedures. We don't see them actually dress the people, so they likely used their powers to put the clothes on them. They may simply choose to interact with the world at times, as with the man they place in the barber's chair.

The Scorpion King (2002)

Corrected entry: Memnon spills two flaming devices (a plate over a stand) in the throne room while he is fighting Mathayus and they have only burning oil inside, no cinders. Outside in the banquet area, he throws the cinders (not incense, this device was burning earlier in the scene) from the same type of flame receptacle that has gone out into Mathayus' face. The "torches" are exactly the same style and produce exactly the same flame, so why are the incendiary tools different? (01:14:25 - 01:18:20)

Phoenix

Correction: Some are outside, the others inside. Perhaps they use a different fuel because outside there is a chance of rain or moisture putting out the flame.

Nosferatu (1922)

Corrected entry: There is some debate over whether the beast frightening the horses in the Romanian village is a decorated hyena or a Tasmanian tiger, but neither is native to Romania.

Phoenix

Correction: It's said that the woods and surrounding areas of Count Orlok's castle are haunted, so the animal frightening the horses could be a ghostly animal, a shape-shifting demon or something else supernatural.

Pitch Black (2000)

Corrected entry: As three survivors run for the spaceship, Riddick stops to hold off the raptors. In one shot, he is lit with a yellow light; the only light available is the rapidly disappearing blue-white light from the glow slug bottles.

Phoenix

Correction: There is a faint yellow light on the horizon, apparently a reflection from one of the suns off of the planet eclipsing them. This is noticeable from the scene near the canyon on. Especially noticeable after the fight with Riddick and Johns.

Pitch Black (2000)

Corrected entry: As the group leaves for the settlement armed with the glow tubes, they are surrounded by a solid ring of raptors, at least 20. Just before Paris dies, his fire breath reveals 8-10 raptors around him alone. But when Riddick's night vision shows 4-5 raptors eating Paris, 2 more tussling away from the others, and a few flying around. What happened to the mass of raptors? Aren't they still attracted to the bleeding child?

Phoenix

Correction: As seen when Shazza was killed, once they got a piece of a person, they'd fly off to eat what they managed to get, away from the other raptors, so they wouldn't have to fight over every morsel. A lot of wild animals on Earth do the same thing if they hunt/travel in packs.

1st May 2004

Pitch Black (2000)

Corrected entry: When Ali is discovered in the coring room, as soon as the imam opens the door, all the raptors fly out into the light, then down the shaft. The room they came from was dark and deep (therefore the opened door doesn't shed much light into it), and (as the rest of the movie shows) the raptors react to light and blood, not motion. They had no reason to fly from the safety of the dark room into the dangerous light.

Phoenix

Correction: They were in that room because they followed Ali into that room when he was trying to escape them. They came out as soon as Iman reopens the door.

21 grams (2003)

Corrected entry: As Marianne and the Reverend drive past the large accident scene, shots on Marianne's face show her emoting and acting, but shots on the Reverend show that she is rather passive and calmly looking forward. (00:26:25)

Phoenix

Correction: He probably wasn't watching the scene, because he was driving the car, so, at least in my personal experience, not all drivers like to be looking at any other thing than the street ahead of them as driving (except for the mirrors), and taking your sight to something as an accident usually isn't such a good idea. He might also not see it, because he might not want to see it, he probably just made Marianne the favor, and he might be disgusted or perturbed by the scene, preferring not to watch it.

Corrected entry: Seth, Scott, and Kate flee down the hallway to the storage area, pursued by the bats all the way and barely closing the door behind them. But when Jacob goes down the hallway (backwards, so the cross faces the main room), all the bats have emptied out into the main bar instead of trying to break down the door or waiting for the prey to inevitably stick its head out. Quite convenient, since Jacob can only point his weapon one direction at a time. (01:23:40 - 01:25:10)

Phoenix

Correction: This is a character mistake, not a movie mistake. Besides, if the bats thought the humans had escaped or would be hiding there a while, they might choose to wait out in the room rather than one crowded hallway.

Smallville (2001)

Leech - S1-E12

Corrected entry: In this episode, as Clark and his parents are first discussing his new weaknesses, the school bus stops directly in front of his farm. In every other episode, Clark, Pete, and Chloe have to walk together quite a distance to reach the bus stop where they all get on. (00:06:10)

Phoenix

Correction: Not true- in the pilot you can see the bus stop outside Clark's house, then drive off.

Mean Girls (2004)

Corrected entry: When Cady bumps Ms. Norbury on the first day of school, if you go frame-by-frame, you can see that Norbury spills the drink away from herself. It's only in the next shot that the cup turns toward her. (00:02:45)

Phoenix

Correction: If you have to go frame by frame, it's not a movie mistake.

Correction: Cecily becomes Halfrek the vengence demon, hence the scene in season 6's "Older And Far Away" when Halfrek calls Spike William and he also seems shocked to see her.

Show generally

Corrected entry: The location of a vampire's heart seems to migrate quite a bit across the show. We can see vamps staked in the center of the chest, on the left side, at the base of the sternum, and even (quite shallowly) in the back. Yet in Graduation Day, Pt. 1, we see that Angel's heart is very strictly defined by Faith's very accurate placement of an arrow in the left of his chest.

Phoenix

Correction: Likely, it's enough for the heart to make contact at all with the wood. At one point, Riley pierces Spike's heart with a synthetic stake merely to torture him, so there may be a mystical heart/wood association that means that grazing the heart is sufficient.

Corrected entry: In the English DVD subtitles throughout the film, anytime something is shown for the audience to read (the package in Townsend's home, Eve's note on the train) the text of the note is duplicated in the subtitles. This is extremely odd because subtitles are intended for those hard of hearing; nothing interferes with their ability to read. If they did have trouble reading, printing it twice on the screen for the same duration wouldn't help much.

Phoenix

Correction: It's not odd at all. A hearing-impaired viewer must constantly shift their focus from watching the action on the screen to reading the subtitles below. This does not give them much time to read anything else onscreen. Including it in the subtitles just makes it a little easier for those viewers to keep up with what's going on in the movie.

Dawn of the Dead (1978)

Corrected entry: When the SWAT team is raiding the building in the beginning, one of them knocks down a door through a barricade. Immediately many zombie arms shoot through and force the barricade off the wall. If the zombies were close enough to reach through the barricade, they should have been knocked back by the falling door, and they had no time to approach. (00:14:00)

Phoenix

Correction: The Swat Team does not break the door down, rather, a shotgun is used to break it open. You can see it swing open after being struck. Once it opens, there is a cut to the guy who opened the door leaning down to look through the boards. Then hands start reaching through. The zombies had plenty of time and space, considering.

The Alamo (2004)

Corrected entry: During the final attack, the Mexicans charge a corner of the fort guarded with wooden stakes set at an angle in the ground. As the Mexicans temporarily fall back, the stakes can be seen wiggling like rubber. Though it could be green wood, no defender would use green wood as a stake intended to stop attackers from charging onto it exactly because it would bend. (01:41:50)

Phoenix

Correction: The wiggling that you see is more reasonably attributed to the natural spring of the wood. A six foot long pike made of juniper or cedar (the most likely woods used, as they are the most abundant trees in this area of Texas which produce branches like these) would spring like this if a grown man or a musket were to strike it like they do in this scene. Also, these pikes would not need to be hard and unbendable, as their purpose is not to stop attackers, but merely to slow a charging line and break it up into single files, which are easier to defend against. For this purpose, they only need a sharp point at the end; if they were still green, it wouldn't matter.

Hero (2002)

Corrected entry: Near the end Broken Sword presents Nameless with his sword and two words of calligraphy. During this scene the wind acts very strangely. It's always blowing Nameless' hair and clothes to his right, but it also blows Broken Sword's hair to his right. Since they're facing each other, that's two opposite directions. When Moon asks Nameless to consider Broken Sword's advice, the wind is still, but it is still blowing strongly on Nameless. This phenomenon may have a thematic interpretation. (01:14:25 - 01:15:05)

Phoenix

Correction: This movie is about symbolism.it really isn't a mistake because the wind symbolizes Nameless' and Broken Sword's differences.
