Ashes to Ashes (2008)

Show generally

Corrected entry: When Chris and Ray are trying to think of five famous people born in Devon, one of the names they mention is racing driver Nigel Mansell, who was in fact born in Worcestershire.

Correction: Character mistake. Both Chris and Ray are not exactly the brightest and best the Police have in their ranks.

Star Trek (2009)

Corrected entry: Kirk and Scotty are able to transport from Delta Vega to the Enterprise, despite it being many hours after the Enterprise had departed the planet at high warp to rendezvous with the rest of the fleet (and possibly through the ship's shields). Spock explains that Scotty later invents the ability to transport to and from ships at warp speed, but this does not account for the distance they are traveling.

Correction: Spock doesn't, but Scotty does account for the distances himself. When Spock gives him the equation for the transwarp theory, its Scotty himself that states that it can be done between two points a long distance apart. His first attempt is what led to the disappearance of Admiral Archer's beagle - this time clearly works.

Marley & Me (2008)

Corrected entry: When John takes Jenny to the airport he is driving one car, but is in a different car when he arrives back home.

Correction: This has already been corrected. The shot of John in the Toyota and then the following shot of him and Marley in the Honda is not meant to be taken as happening immediately after, some time has passed between the scenes. Not a mistake.

Marley & Me (2008)

Corrected entry: In the scene where John and Jenny have moved to their new home in Boca, there is a scene in the driveway where John is in front of a new Volvo. He is then seen driving his old Honda Accord when sitting in the driveway looking at Jenny. He later is seen with the new Volvo again.

Correction: This submission assumes that John got rid of his Honda immediately after buying the Volvo, when to me John was simply reluctant to let Marley sit in his brand new Volvo as he has a habit of ripping things up. The next time you see the Volvo is significantly further in the timeline of the movie and it's no longer brand new.

Marley & Me (2008)

Corrected entry: When at the airport, a Toyota Tercel is being driven. In the next scene, it is clear they are in a Honda. A different car, different color and different body style. Toyota Tercel was a red hatchback. Honda was a blue sedan.

Correction: It is an accepted movie convention to not show every single detail of what John Grogan did, after he dropped his wife off at the airport. As you said, it in the next 'scene', which would be a scene that would be further on in time to the previous scene. Absolutely not a mistake.

Bring it On (2000)

Corrected entry: The music the Toros use during their routine at the Finals against the Clovers is actually sped up and strung together versions of most of the songs heard previously in the film, including Blaque's theme, "As If," and Cliff's love song to Torrance.

Correction: Something this obvious cannot be considered trivia, even a casual viewer will spot the musical similarities.

Knowing (2009)

Corrected entry: When John is in his car driving through NYC before the world ends, you would expect people to try and steal his car or at least hitch a ride. But they don't, they just keep walking as if he's not even there, when in reality, there would be mass panic.

Correction: Hitch a ride where exactly? He's going INTO NYC, they are all going OUT of NYC! As for the mass panic, quite the movie depicted people that were resigned to their fate that nothing could be done, a 'mass panic' was utterly moot by then.

Godzilla (1998)

Corrected entry: It is shown that Godzilla laid around 200 or so eggs in Madison Square Garden. Yet to carry that many eggs at the size they are shown in the film, Godzilla would have had a visible bulge for all of the eggs. Yet throughout the movie, it is never shown to have any signs of carrying eggs.

Razvaluha

Correction: We have no idea how quickly Godzilla can reproduce eggs, and there's also no onscreen suggestion that she laid the eggs in one hit. I got the impression she was using the garden as a lair and constantly returned to it, presumably to lay more eggs.

Battlefield Earth (2000)

Corrected entry: When the revolt begins, Terl orders a Stage 3 Alert, and we are shown Psychlo gas drone ships and troops being prepared to teleport en masse to Earth. Later, when one of the humans teleports to Psychlo to destroy it, the explosion destroys most of the gas drone ships, but one manages to teleport away before the planet is destroyed. That ship is not alluded to by the humans, as it should have appeared on Earth and caused some sort of commotion. (01:41:00 - 01:43:05)

Razvaluha

Correction: Earth wouldn't have been the only destination the gas drone ships could have teleported to, and seeing as the danger has come from Earth, one solitary drone ship going to the source of the danger wouldn't be wise, therefore it teleported elsewhere.

Watchmen (2009)

Corrected entry: In the scene when the Comedian is being attacked in his house you can see a light pendant over his dining table that was designed in 2005, when the action is supposed to be set in 1985.

Correction: The movie is set in an alternate 1985, therefore it's entirely plausible that the light pendant was designed earlier in that time period.

Battlefield Earth (2000)

Corrected entry: During the air battle above Denver, one of the cavemen in the Harriers pursues a Psychlo ship attacking his comrade. When he attempts to fire a missile, an alarm in the cockpit blares and a sign saying "Munition Depleted" is shown. It should actually say "Munitions Depleted". The way it is worded in the film implies the Harrier had only one missile. (01:43:40)

Razvaluha

Correction: Incorrect. The warning refers to ONE type of munition, i.e. the missiles, therefore its grammatically correct for it to be worded as it is.

GalahadFairlight

Corrected entry: The explosive the bad guys have chosen is not easily 'booby-trapped'. The two chemicals have to be mixed to produce an explosive. The fact that no one, including McClane, (who knows this) thinks to just clip one of the hoses and prevent the chemicals from mixing seems a little far-fetched.

Correction: The bombs also had dummy mechanisms to foil anyone tampering with them, no-one was prepared to step in and clamp a hose on the off chance that it might trigger a secondary explosive.

Valkyrie (2008)

Corrected entry: Key layouts on the many typewriters used throughout the movie have a QWERTY keyboard. However, German keyboards have QWERTZ layouts.

Correction: Utterly incorrect. Having watched the movie again, I saw three instances where you can see the typewriters and in every case they were 'QWERTZ' keyboards. Not a mistake.

Taken (2008)

Corrected entry: In the scene on the boat, three girls are being led to the man identified as "the Sheik". When Neeson bursts into the room, only his daughter is in the room with "the Sheik", and the other two girls have disappeared (and are never seen again).

Correction: That's not a continuity mistake at all, simply that the Sheik intended to have his expensive 'trophy' first at the exclusion of the other two. The movie is all about Bryan trying to get his daughter back, the other girls are superfluous to the story.

Valkyrie (2008)

Corrected entry: In a scene where Tom Cruise's character is attacked in the desert, right at the beginning of the film, textual information about the visual effects is visible in the lower left corner of the screen.

Correction: That is a fault with the theatre you viewed it in, the projectionist didn't frame the movie properly. A frame of film is square, but only a rectangular portion is shown - if the projector isn't set up properly the upper portion of the frame may be projected, which often contains microphones and other equipment which is of course never meant to be visible.

GalahadFairlight

Corrected entry: In almost all of the outer space shots the stars in the distant background "twinkle". When looking into space from earth stars appear to twinkle because of the distortion caused by the atmosphere; when viewed from space all of the stars should have a consistent glow - no twinkling.

BocaDavie

Correction: Thats not entirely correct. The Mutara Nebula features heavily and is cloud like, and clearly stretches far beyond what is visible, this alone can account for the twinkling stars.

Valkyrie (2008)

Corrected entry: At the very end of the film as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg is about to be shot by the firing squad, Werner von Haeften stands in the way of the shots. Realistically, the shots would have passed through Colonel Brandt's body into Colonel Stauffenberg's.

Correction: Except in reality they didn't, since Stauffenberg's execution was as it happened onscreen.

Flyboys (2006)

Corrected entry: When Lowry's bottle falls to the floor, he says that it's a 100 euro bottle of Cognac. The currency in France was francs until 2002 when they changed to euros.

Correction: Not so. He said it's a "100 year old bottle of Cognac".

Taken (2008)

Corrected entry: When Kimi and her friend first meet Peter, his hair is poofy, kind of sticking up. When the taxi drops the three off, Peter's hair is matted down.

Correction: The taxi journey would be sufficiently long enough for Peter to have sorted out his hair. Not a mistake.

Valkyrie (2008)

Corrected entry: In the scene where General Fromm states Stauffenberg must salute Hitler on leaving Fromm's office. The rear shot of Cruise before he does so shows him holding his hat under his arm, but it cuts to him turning to Fromm and saying Heil Hitler the hat is firmly on Cruise's head.

Correction: It simply isn't.
