The Piano (1993)

Continuity mistake: The rope that pulls Ada down is much longer than the one that ties her shoe to the piano when it's sitting on the ground. (00:48:10)

The Piano (1993)

Continuity mistake: Before the piano gets thrown overboard Ada holds her hand into the water. In close up the water is perfectly still while in all wider shots it's quite choppy. (01:46:30)

The Piano (1993)

Revealing mistake: When Ada and Baines leave the island the Maoris pull the heavy canoe with the piano on top across the beach into the water. From the tracks in the sand you can tell that it runs on wheels. (01:44:35)

The Piano (1993)

Continuity mistake: During one of the piano lessons, Baines tries to force Ada to lie on the bed next to him. When she tries to leave, he holds her back, pulls her blouse down about the shoulders, and it tears in the back. When she gets up later, the blouse is whole again. (00:52:05)

The Piano (1993)

Continuity mistake: When Baines has his first 'piano lesson' Flora asks to be allowed in. Ada declines, and when she goes back in the house her playing starts immediately when she closes the door, way before she could have walked to the piano and sat down. (00:40:40)

The Piano (1993)

Continuity mistake: When Baines takes Ada and Flora to the shore, the girl builds a large and beautifully decorated seashell seahorse on the sand. To do this, she had to work from all around, but on one side the sand is pristine (and the sea is too far to have straightened it out). (00:23:25)

The Piano (1993)

Factual error: After its trip over the ocean on which it got soaked with moisture the piano is amazingly well in tune, only later, at Baines' place, it sounds a little bit off. (00:07:30 - 00:32:20)
