Commando (1985)

Corrected entry: When Matrix asks Cindy how she managed to fire the rocket at the police-van, she tells him "I read the instruction book." Unlikely, unless she can drive and read books simultaneously.

Correction: She says she "read the instructions", not that she read the instruction "book." The instructions are printed on the weapon itself and are fairly simple. There's only a few steps and you could certainly read them while you were driving a vehicle.

BaconIsMyBFF

Correction: People do read and drive at the same time. That's one cause of accidents.

The car is still stopped at the light, she stands up, turns around, then the scene cuts back and forth to the cops. Cindy does appear to stare at the rocket launcher before picking it up. She could have been reading the instructions there. Another less likely possibility is that out of curiosity, she read the instructions while she was loading it into the car. She says she read the instructions, she doesn't say when. In the car while standing is more likely because she uses it wrong at first.

Firefly (2002)

Out of Gas - S1-E5

Corrected entry: Although the premise of the episode is the complete failure of Serenity's major systems (life support, navigation, etc.), the gravity stays on throughout the episode. "Stays on," because a ship would require a major, operational electromagnetic system to mimic gravity - or it would need to be in a controlled spin - either of which option would fail as the rest of the ship did. As well as freezing and asphyxiating, by the rules of the episode, Mal and the others should be floating throughout.

Correction: How is there gravity in the ship? Is it an active system (requiring power) or a passive system (always on)? It is never mentioned, in the brief series, how they maintain gravity on ships. The series is set hundreds of years into the future. You can't guess what future technology might be invented.

Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)

Corrected entry: When Riggs is explaining to Murtaugh's wife how he found out his wife was killed, this is not how it happens (in the US). No police department would come upon a wreck and not personally (or have the agency where the officer lives) notify Riggs of his wife's death. The police community is too close. Maybe small town PD's don't but LAPD has directives on how to handle family member deaths for officers. Even if Riggs weren't an officer, no police department or hospital or doctor notifies anyone's immediate family of a serious / tragic death by phone and then asks them to drive to the morgue to "sign the body out" (identify the remains). They would tell them to come to the hospital, or wherever, making sure they have a ride, and then tell them about the death in person.

Correction: This falls under "what should" be done or "what could" be done. Just because it wasn't done, doesn't make it a mistake.

Stormbreaker (2006)

Corrected entry: In the scene where Alex crashes through the roof of the science museum, there is an error with the subtitles. When Blunt is barking orders, it says that Mrs Jones is speaking. Unless there's something wrong with my DVD player.

Correction: The subtitles are not part of the movie. They were added for the DVD.

Tapestry - S6-E15

Corrected entry: When the Away Team beams to Sickbay with Picard at the beginning of the episode, Dr. Crusher asks what caused his injury and Worf responds that it was "a compressed teryon beam" from an alien weapon. However, when Picard is telling Q about his regrets he says that if he'd had a real heart he "wouldn't have died from a random energy surge 30 years later." Either Patrick Stewart was ad libbing and no one caught the contradiction, or the left hand didn't know what the right hand was doing on the writing team for that particular script.

Correction: Picard was hit by a Lenarian tetryon beam. If he didn't have the artificial heart, he would have lived. But since he had an artificial heart, a random energy surge in the heart killed him. http://memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Tapestry.

Stealth (2005)

Corrected entry: When Gannon and EDI are attacked over Russia, Gannon calls the approaching fighters SU-37 Terminators. The NATO-names for Soviet/Russian aircraft always begin with the letter "F" to designate fighters (Fulcrum, Fishbed, Flogger,.) and "B" for bombers (Badger, Blackjack,.).

Correction: Sukhoi Su-37 Terminator is the correct designation. http://www.milavia.net/aircraft/su-37/su-37.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sukhoi_Su-37.

Corrected entry: As the troops are marching out at the end of "Yip Yip Yaphank", Alan Hale Sr. gives the order to "column right, MARCH", but George Tobias starts the turn BEFORE Hale says "MARCH". Anybody who's spent any time in the military knows that you NEVER start executing a drill command until the drill instructor or equivalent gives the "execute word" (e.g. "MARCH"). This may seem a small thing, but it's crazy making to anybody who knows better. (00:17:45)

Correction: This was called "anticipating the command", i.e., executing the command before it is given. It happened often and was a no win situation. We'd get yelled at for anticipating the command (starting the turn before MARCH), or when the command for column right was given on the LEFT foot, we were yelled at for NOT anticipating the command. It's just real life. Not every single unit out there is part of 3rd Infantry that does nothing but practice D&C all day long.

Corrected entry: At the beginning of the film, the Space Station is tracking the fight between the Klingon ships and V'ger. At one point, the crew on the Space Station have footage of the Klingons on the bridge of one of the ships. This should not be possible as the Klingons did not contact the Space Station.

Correction: They could have hacked into the ship's view screen like they did in the series.

Rlvlk

Correction: The Klingons are definitely sending a message of some sort. Either the Starfleet station intercepted the transmission meant for another Klingon ship, or the Klingons were sending a signal informing those in the general vicinity what's going on.

Galaxy Quest (1999)

Corrected entry: The amount of time that gets reset when Taggert presses the Omega 13 is a LOT longer than 13 seconds.

Correction: The "13 seconds" was a guess from a fan of the show. They had no idea what it would actually do, or how long it would take, when it was activated.

Corrected entry: When Valiant grabs Roger after he is singing, dancing and smashing plates on his head, if you look carefully you can see that Roger is a frozen-stiff cardboard cut-out. This was to hide the machinery that was smashing the plates.

Correction: They made it pretty clear in the "Making of" documentary that each individual film cell was hand-painted.

The Buying Game - S1-E8

Corrected entry: When Jack goes back to Karen's place for the last time to tell her that he no longer wants to massage her, he says "I took an oath in front of God and my mother, I'm here, I'm Queer get used to it." But his mother doesn't know that he's gay until they mention it in "Homo for the Holidays" in Season 2. (00:19:15)

FernyBoy

Correction: He doesn't mean he stated it to his mother directly, it is like swearing on someone's soul or grave, you don't actually place your hand on anything. It is just a figure of speech.

That '70s Show (1998)

Jackie Bags Hyde - S3-E8

Corrected entry: After the parade, Red shows up in his Navy uniform. He has several medals on the shirt (three, I believe). The only problem is that one of them is an Army Commendation Medal. Red was in the Navy. While different branches of services can recommend medals for other branches, had the Army recommended Red for a medal, the Navy would have given him a Navy Commendation Medal, not the Army equivalent. The Army medal has the several small stripes in the center (as the one Red is wearing does). The Navy medal has no pinstripes only the two wide ones.

Zwn Annwn

Correction: Red could have served jointly with an Army unit and earned an ARCOM.

Superman (1978)

Corrected entry: When Superman saves the train from derailing during the earthquake, he places his body between the tracks, hold up one rail with his right hand, and uses his left arm and side as the other rail. But even Superman can't change physics. Train wheels have a flange that goes on the inside of the rail to keep it from slipping off the rail. (Go look at your model train set). Since Superman is indestructible, this flange would hit him and derail the train (Perhaps this is why he ducks his head).

StevenJ

Correction: And when he grabs the plane to help it fly, he would punch right through the skin. And, and, and... Every single thing he does in the movie is against the laws of our reality, but some leeway has to be given for movies like this.

Corrected entry: In book 2, it says Myrtle haunts the U-bend of the toilet, but in book 4, it says she haunts the S-bend.

Correction: An S bend is just 2 U bends. All drains are S bends to let water out and keep gases down.

Out of Gas - S1-E5

Corrected entry: During the commentary for Shindig, one of the costume designers comments on the leather bands Zoe wears around her neck, saying that they are a symbol of her marriage to Wash, which is why she 'never takes them off'. However, in the flashback scene showing the first meeting between Zoe and Wash, she is wearing the bands. (00:11:00)

STP

Correction: So she was wrong in the commentary. Or, she was right. The commentary is not part of the show, so no mistake.

Clum Babies - S2-E5

Corrected entry: After Xandir gets pistol whipped, he falls and gets shot. Since he is a video game character, he should have just lost a life and respawned. Instead, he lays on the floor, dead.

Theresa Sandoval

Correction: Back in season 1, he committed suicide until he had one life left.

Pearl Harbor (2001)

Corrected entry: When the bombing starts, someone asks Danny "What the hell is going on out there?" and Danny replies. "I think World War II just started." World War I was called The Great War until the 1950s, so there is no way Danny would know anything about the possibility of a sequel.

Correction: World War: first attested 1909 as a speculation, probably a translation of German "Weltkrieg". Applied to the first one soon after it began in 1914. "World War I" coined 1939, replacing "Great War" as the most common name for it; "First World War" first attested 1947. "World War II" so-called since 1939; "Second World War" is from 1942. http://www.etymonline.com/index.php?search=world+war&searchmode=none.

Corrected entry: The Godfather Part III story is suppose to take place in 1980, yet the characters are sporting 1990's mens hair and clothing fashion. For example: slicked back short hair, black leather jackets with long narrow lapels, dark colored suits with thin lapels and matching dark ties, etc. The mens fashion of 1980 you'd see longer hair, usually parted in the middle and feathered back. Jackets, whether leather, suit or leisure suit, had wide lapels. Suits would sometimes be plaid, but often in loud colors like maroon, red, light blue or lime green with the thick wide white belt and white shoes.

Correction: Leisure suits were 70s fasions. But beyond that, not everyone cares what the fasion trend is. Short slicked back hair dates back to the 40s and 50s. I can find clothes today with both wide and narrow lapels.
