21 (2008)

Corrected entry: This film is based on a true story. One problem though: the kids from MIT were mostly Asian American students, not all white kids.

Correction: This may be based on a true story, but it is not a documentary. They are allowed to make changes for dramatization.

Minority Report (2002)

Corrected entry: The Precrime cops make a huge effort to track down and arrest Anderton before he commits his murder. However, they make no effort whatsoever to protect Crowe. They could've moved Crowe to a secure location, one Anderton was not aware of, rather than waste time chasing down someone who knows their tactics and could easily outrun them. It made sense why they didn't protect the other victims because the murders took place mere minutes after Precrime analyzed the visions, but the Precogs saw Anderton's murder days in advance. The cops had plenty of time to locate and protect Crowe. If Anderton couldn't find Crowe in the first place, the murder would've been prevented, since all the other murders were prevented when the killer was separated from the victims and could not commit the crime.

Brad

Correction: The director of Precrime is the one that set up Anderton. He set set up the fake future murder. He could have easily directed the police to avoid protecting Crowe.

Corrected entry: During two scenes in which the "Russian" scientists are talking, one of the voices is of a woman who is speaking Czech. She says "Co mame d&283;lat?" (What should we do?) Although it is of course possible that one of the scientists would be Czech, the comment is interjected in the middle of a Russian conversation, and it is very unlikely that she would be understood as Russian and Czech are not close enough to be mutually understood.

Correction: Being an ex-military linguist specializing in East European languages, I have to say the languages are close to gain basic understanding. They are both Slavic languages. With out the stress marks (the site seems to wig out) Czech: Co mam delat? Russian: (transliterated)Chto nam dyelat? They way we always identified Serbo-Croatian? the Czech linguist understood most, but was sure it was Russian. The Russian linguist understood most, but was sure it was Czech. Boom! Send it to the Serbo-Croat linguist.

Swing Vote (2008)

Corrected entry: Early in the film, the girl says, "If you have one more felony, they'll take me away." If he had any felony, he wouldn't be able to vote. Kind of blows the whole film out of the water.

Correction: The basic premise of the movie blows the entire movie out of the water. The President is elected by electoral votes, individual votes do not mean anything. You have to file this under "suspension of disbelief".

Rlvlk

Except that in the state of New Mexico, ex-cons are permanently banned from voting. Since both presidential candidates want all of Bud's information, his criminal past would be made available to them and they would also realise the same thing.

Corrected entry: Right after the zoo accident and before the dancing scene, a giraffe runs past a house and it makes a sound, but giraffes don't make any vocal sounds.

logan crews

Correction: It's a misconception that giraffes make no sounds. http://www.puppetopia.com/giraffe/Info.htm#e.

Corrected entry: In the scene where Guy's family is watching the Wonders on TV, they are using a wireless remote control to adjust the TV. The film is supposed to take place in 1964, but wireless remote controls for televisions were not available until the 1970s.

Correction: Actually, wireless remotes were introduced in 1956. http://www.ideafinder.com/history/inventions/remotectl.htm.

My Cousin Vinny (1992)

Corrected entry: Mona Lisa repeatedly swears while giving evidence, referring to the prosecutor's questions as 'bullshit', amongst other things. Regardless of how careless the judge is about running this case, that would get her a citation for contempt of course, if not worse.

Correction: A contempt citation is based entirely on the opinion of the judge. And this judge is smitten with Mona partly because she is hostile towards Vinny.

Capricorn One (1977)

Corrected entry: During a rocket/shuttle takeoff, no vehicle or flying aircraft is allowed anywhere near, yet during the last five minutes of the countdown, a van picks up the astronauts and drives them to a helicopter. The helicopter couldn't be very far away because of the short time left on the countdown, and the helicopter could never have stealthily flown off or be allowed to fly off without NASA radar picking it up, never mind the flight to the Lear jet.

Correction: Key NASA personnel had to be in on the conspiracy. The radar was just ignored.

South Park (1997)

Correction: Unwashed eggs don't need to be refrigerated - in the UK at least, they're sold and stored at room temperature. If these eggs were freshly laid they'd last just fine.

Jon Sandys

Correction: With all the scientific improbabilities & impossibilities that occur within this series, it is very doubtful.

Bee Movie (2007)

Corrected entry: When Barry is flying inside the car and the brakes are applied, he would not be thrown to a wall. Even though he is flying in the air, the air in the car is moving with the car. He is essentially moving as a part of the vehicle and will move slightly forward, since he is heavier than air, in the same direction we do when the car is braking.

Correction: How many thousands of cartoons do you think I can apply this disregard of Newtonian mechanics to? Almost every single Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Foghorn Leghorn, etc., cartoon plays on this. As Bugs once said, the law of gravity doesn't apply to him because he never studied law. The movie takes place in a cartoon universe where are laws of reality do not apply. If this one mistake stands, I can start sending in the mistakes dealing with bee physiology, the aerodynamics a flying bee wearing shoes, the impossibility of something as small as a bee being able to generate speech loud enough to be heard by humans. Call it "suspension of disbelief" or "their cartoon universe, their rules" but it is by no means a mistake.

The Tudors (2007)

Show generally

Corrected entry: In episode 18, as Henry is lying on the table after the jousting accident, the camera pans up and reveals a fluer de lis on Henry's breastplate. The fluer de lis is/was the symbol of the French King and it is highly unlikely that it would be so prominently displayed on the English king's armor.

Correction: The fleur de lis was part of the heraldry of many British Kings\Queens, including Henry VIII. http://www.fleurdelis.com/royal.htm.

Corrected entry: At Chris's wedding, just before the camera pans to Stewie appearing in the aisle, Francis Griffin can be seen in one of the pews. Francis, however died in the episode 'Peter's Two Dads'.

Correction: The "movie" is 3 episodes together: Season 4 episodes 28, 29, 30. 'Peter's Two Dads' was Season 5 episode 10. Francis was still alive at the end of season 4 and dies half way through season 5.

The Mist (2007)

Corrected entry: There is a scene in which David Drayton is arguing with Brent Norton trying to convince him of something in the mist when the camera pans to Mr. Norton and directly behind him are bags of Zapp's Potato Chips which are made in Gramercy, LA and only sold in the South; however, the movie is set in Maine.

Correction: Their website says they ship anywhere in the lower 48 states. http://www.zappsstore.com/cgi-local/SoftCart.100.exe/online-store/scstore/shophome.html?E+scstore.

The West Wing (1999)

In the Shadow of Two Gunmen: Part II - S2-E2

Corrected entry: During CJ's 5th press briefing, she states that the Secret Service shot the gunmen with .726 caliber rifles. I find it unlikely that Secret Service sharpshooters would utilize a round almost 3/4 of an inch in diameter, when far more effective and efficient calibers exist.

Correction: All references to any weapons carried and used by the Secret Service has been removed from their official website, but 7.62mm (the correct caliber) is the standard caliber for Warsaw Pact rifles. 7.62mm is the common caliber for sniper rifles.

21 (2008)

Corrected entry: If you watch the trailer, the scene where Kevin looks at the test score of the main character, it shows a 100% - but in the movie the paper showed a 97%.

Correction: Comparisons between trailers and movies are not considered valid mistakes as trailers commonly contain footage that does not make the final cut of the movie.

Brannigan (1975)

Corrected entry: When Brannigan asks if he should call Swann "sir", the commander says that the title was handed down from some ancestor. However, a knighthood from the British Monarchy is not hereditary. It dies with the holder.

Correction: Swann states that it is a military courtesy title handed down from an ancestor. That opens the possibility of Swann inheriting a Baronet title, since they are addressed as 'Sir'. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baronet http://www.churchill-society-london.org.uk/HnrSystm.html.

Snakes on a Plane (2006)

Corrected entry: The snakes' vision is shown to be completely green, even living things. But snakes see in thermal vision, so living things would look orange or red.

Correction: Snake's have normal eyes and some snakes have infrared sensitive receptors (pit organs). The snake vision in the movie is just added for dramatic effect. http://www.anapsid.org/sight.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snake http://www.collisiondetection.net/mt/archives/2006/08/the_science_of_2.html.

Corrected entry: In one of the final scenes, when the drugs land at Newark aboard an Army plane, Russell Crowe repeatedly calls the Army official in charge of the operation 'Captain.' Judging by his highly decorated uniform and his age, this man cannot be a captain.

Correction: He has captain's rank on and that makes him a captain. The age someone looks and the age they really are differs. And his uniform wasn't that highly decorated.
