The Adventures of Robin Hood (1938)

Continuity: When Will Scarlet finds the injured Much in Sherwood Forest about three quarters of the way through the movie, a white vehicle can be seen travelling from right to left in the background.

Continuity: The horse Robin is on when he is exhorting his men to return to Sherwood and the one he is on when he rides over to the right to slash the portcullis rope could be two different horses as their saddle cloths are different colours.

Continuity: In the scene where Robin is rescued from hanging, watch the shadows on the church in the background. It keeps going in and out of shadow.

The horse Olivia DeHaviland rides was later acquired by the late Roy Rogers and became known as Trigger.

The archery coach for the film was the famous master bowman Howard Hill (he successfully hunted an elephant with a longbow). He also performed the "trick" shots, and appears in the movie as the black-bearded archer Robin defeats in the "finals" of the archery contest.

Listen carefully to the sounds the swords make during the final battle at Nottingham castle. When Robin and Sir Guy are fighting, they sound different (clanging as opposed to clicking) than all the other combatants. The reason for the discrepancy is simple. Errol Flynn and Basil Rathbone, both experienced performers, are using real steel swords for their one-on-one fight scenes, while everyone else is using plastic props.
