Continuity mistake: During the reaping, as Katniss fights with the peace keepers to get to Prim, there is an obvious break in the shot. In one shot, she is already pushing the peace keeper on her left off, but in the next shot, she is just beginning to push him. (00:15:00)

Continuity mistake: When Katniss meets Cinna, he has 4 earrings in his left ear and 2 in his right, so the last shot (when he says that Katniss "shouldn't be dressed up in some stupid costume") is clearly inverted. (00:29:25)

Continuity mistake: When the tributes are entering the arena on horse-drawn chariots, the spacing between the vehicles keeps changing from being far apart (in the long shot) to bunched up in closer angles. This is not just because the horses either sped up or slowed down because the distance is always perfectly even between each chariot. (00:30:50)

Continuity mistake: In the scene where Katniss uses the remote to change the scene in her bedroom window in the Capitol, her hair starts out stringy (having just been taken out of the braids she wore in the opening ceremony) and changes to full and beautiful and switches positions around her face and shoulders as the scene progresses. (00:34:10)

Continuity mistake: You need to watch carefully for this mistake as it's over in the blink of eye. When in the training at the start we see the boy from District 8 fall off the monkey bars and hurt his leg. In the far shot that shows him falling we see him roll onto his back and grasp his shin just below the knee. Camera changes to him on his side and he rolls onto his back and grasps his leg again, but this time he grasps it a lot lower down the leg. (00:36:40)

Continuity mistake: In the cornucopia bloodbath, the District 3 girl can be seen lying dead next to Cato when he picks up the water container, yet only moments later you see her in the distance of one shot being killed by a boy tribute (being slashed to the neck).

Trivia: This movie has approximately 1200 shots that are composed of CG animation. The director Gary Ross' previous movie, The Tale of Despereaux, was also composed of approximately 1200 CG animated shots. The Tale of Despereaux was a fully CG animated movie, yet the live action Hunger Games had just as many CG shots.

Question: This is more for the book than the movie, but how was Rue able to enter the arena with a "homemade" sling shot if no weapons could be taken in there?

Jessica Wren

Chosen answer: The tributes could not take anything in with them, but the arena is filled with different types of weapons and tools, if they can get them. Rue was clever and agile, and she could have found or stolen the slingshot or the tools with which to make one. Also, anyone, for a price, can send "gifts" into the arena to sponsor a favorite tribute.

raywest

Answer: In the book Rue never received any gifts she only grabbed a few things from the cornucopia so the slingshot must have been one of them.
