Continuity mistake: When Rose and Esther are sitting on the porch watching John Truitt (near the beginning), Esther is sitting very close to the ivy plant and in a close up she is holding one of the flowers, but in the next shot she isn't holding one and is sitting further away. (00:07:10)

Continuity mistake: In the kitchen scenes, the cabinet on the kitchen wall as you walk into the dining room holds candles, teapot and teacups. But in the "hurry up dinner" scene as Katie goes in and out of the kitchen through that door, the wall cabinet holds spices. (00:19:49 - 00:21:13)

Factual error: When Judy Garland is walking around with the neighbor from next door turning down the gas lights throughout the house, the first gas chandelier in the living room that they turn off has a regular light bulb worked with a black plastic switch. (00:39:00)

Continuity mistake: When Esther sits down after she has put on her corset for the Christmas Ball, Rose's hand goes from her stomach to the arm of the chair instantly - just when Esther says, "I don't think I can go through with it". (01:19:25)

Continuity mistake: The levels of soup in people's bowls change during the dinner scene at the beginning.

Audio problem: After Tootie sings 'I Was Drunk Last Night' you see a far away shot where Esther grabs her leg and says 'Tootie you very ba..' Cut to the close up where she repeats 'Tootie you very bad'

Continuity mistake: When Esther comes down the side stairway to attend the party for her brother Lon, the grandfather clock is seen merrily ticking away. Yet when the camera angle changes to show her coming down the main stairway, the clock's pendulum is at a standstill.

Continuity mistake: In the party scene where Tootis sings her sleeve is up. When Lon pulls her onto his lap the sleeve is down, but then when she gets off his lap, the sleeve is back up again.

Factual error: There are mountains in the background in several of the scenes, but there aren't actually any mountains in or near St Louis.

Continuity mistake: In the scene after the father has announced the move to New York he walks into the next room and the mother brings him a thin slice of cake. In the next shot, the slice of cake is much thicker.

Lauren Capper

Other mistake: The house appears to have three floors but the bathroom, the little girl's room, Grandpa's room (down the hall from bathroom and across hall from Rose and Esther) and Rose and Esther's rooms are all on the same floor at the top of the stairs. And exterior front of house shots show large windows on what would be a "second" floor that has no access from the main staircase.

Continuity mistake: When Esther is singing boy next door, near the end of the song - after the small dance bit, she goes back to the window and puts her hand on the curtain. But in the close up her hand is in a different place.

Other mistake: At the beginning of the Halloween sequence Tootie and Agnes are in their bedroom on the 3rd storey. That same bedroom is across the hall from the bathroom on the 2nd floor in the Christmas sequence. Also when Grandpa looks out his window to see Esther returning from tennis he's looking out a window that would be looking to the side and back yard, not toward the street in front of the house.

Esther Smith: I'm going to let John Truett kiss me tonight.
Rose Smith: Esther Smith.
Esther Smith: Well, if we're going to get married, I may as well start it.
Rose Smith: Nice girls don't let men kiss them until after they're engaged. Men don't want the bloom rubbed off.
Esther Smith: Personally, I think I have too much bloom. Maybe that's the trouble with me.
