High School Musical (2006) - 40 corrections
Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.
When Zac and Vanessa are singing Breaking Free for the last time in the movie, at the second last line 'you know the world can see us' Vanessa forgets to sing her part even though you can still hear her voice. She only realizes she's not "singing" at: 'can see us' and jumps back to singing as if nothing happened. [That is not Vanessa's voice but Zac's. His voice just gets high sometimes. Vanessa is not supposed to sing at "Can See Us"]
During the scene of the first homeroom class, Ms. Darbus says that the final callbacks are in one week. In the scene where Troy and Sharpey are looking at the audition list, Sharpey asks Troy when the championship game is. Troy says it is in two weeks. That is impossible, because both the callbacks and the championship game were in the same week. [There was an entire part of the movie that involved Sharpey conning Ms. Darbus into changing the try-out date from the same day as the championship game. So yes it was originally a week away; but then was changed to two weeks away.]
At the end of the movie the supposedly school band starts playing their instruments and everyone is getting ready to sing 'We're all in this together" How does the band know what to play?
[This is like saying, "In the songs from this movie, how does everyone know what to sing?" It's a musical where numerous people can burst out into song whenever about anything. Judging that this is very different from real life, the band bursting into song is not a mistake.]
When Troy and Gabriella are dancing around the moon in Breaking Free, you can see Ryan and Sharpay in the background, and Ryan is bobbing his head to the music. The real Ryan would not do this. He would have looked upset, but instead, he was happy. [Actually, the real Ryan probably WOULD do this. All through the movie, we see that Sharpay is the competitive one - she just drags her brother along with her. Also, if you look closely at that shot, while Ryan is bobbing his head, Sharpay is looking furiously at him.]
At the scholastic decathlon, Taylor transmits the code to the gym, and the laptop says that the code was transmitted.Taylor then shuts the laptop. We then see the cords, and then the malfunction in the gym. Then, we are back at the scholastic decathlon, and the laptop is still open and says that the code was transmitted. [They reopened the laptop in order to send the NEXT code- the code causing the stinky chemical so that the scholastic team (particularly Gabriella) is free to go to the auditions. That's why it says "Code Transmitted" a second time- you'll see that a few seconds later the chemical malfunction begins.]
Just before Gabriella and Troy are "caught" by Sharpay and Ryan, Troy is rushing to meet Gabriella by the lockers. When he reaches the lockers he looks down at his wrist to see the time on his watch. However the watch is not there. [Since Gabriella was only a second later walking up the hall towards Troy, he would have seen her, and then looked at his wrist to siginify time. He wasn't checking the time, he was indicating to Gabriella that she was late.]
During the cafeteria scene, towards the end of the song "Stick to the Status Quo" we see a close-up of Sharpay starting to walk down the cafeteria stairs. The camera angle then cuts back to a view of the whole cafeteria dancing, and you're able to see Sharpay simply standing, next to Ryan, on the ledge overlooking the cafeteria as if she had never started walking anywhere. [This is not true Sharpay is just pacing forwards and backwards you can see her turn round again just before the camera goes onto the hip-hop dancer.]
In the scene where Troy and Gabriella make it a bit late to the call back auditions, Mrs. Darbus tells them that the pianist isn't there so they can't sing. Later when they start singing "Breaking Free" there are a lot more instruments in the song than just a piano. [The piano starts the song and is the main accompaniment, so it would be reasonable to say that they can't sing without it. And besides, since they showed up a little late, Mrs. Darbus is not particularly inclined to make adjustments for them to audition.]
When Troy is playing basketball at practice during the song Get'cha Head in the Game, his jersey says 14 with his name, Bolton on the back. Later, at the next practice, his jersey number is 10. And at last, at the game at the end, his number is back to 14. [Having experience in basketball, I know that Troy could have easily had 2 jerseys.]
When Gabriella starts to have stage fright at the beginning of Breaking Free, Troy's warmup jacket is zippered up, but in as soon as he starts singing, it ismagically unzipped. [After Troy settles Gabriella down, he signals Kelsi to start playing. Before the shot cuts to Kelsi, you can see Troy's left hand going up to unzip his jacket.]
When Sharpay and Ryan congratulate Gabriella at the gym, you can see Zeke waiting on the right side of the screen for his cue to run in and talk to Sharpay. [He could have been deciding whether or not to actually talk to her. He was probably deciding to go or not to go. Plus he didn't want to interupt her while she was talking to Gabriella.]
When Troy and Gabriella start singing Breaking Free, Gabriella is wearing her scholastic decathlon uniform, but after it cuts to Troy then back to Gabriella, she is now wearing a pink shirt and a skirt. [Before the shot goes to Troy, you can see Gabriella unbuttoning her jacket. She walks to the end of the stage and tosses it down. When you see her in the skirt and shirt, she is walking back to Troy after throwing her jacket off stage.]
When Troy and Gabriella sing the duet "What I've Been Looking For" with Kelsi, we see Troy looking off into the distance while singing, without having to ever look at the words; if this was the FIRST time he had ever heard this song, then he would have needed to look at Kelsi's piano sheet for the entire song. [But he heard Ryan and Sharpay sing that song just before he went to the stage.]
