The Girl Next Door

Continuity mistake: When Eli tells all of the minions to leave the AV room, two of the kids spin a desk chair to get out of the room. The chair is seen hitting the desk with the backrest facing the desk. When Matt and Eli begin to watch the tape the backrest of the chair is facing the AV equipment. (00:30:20)

Continuity mistake: When Matt, Kelly and Danielle are at the strip club, Danielle gets up to use the bathroom. If you look in the background while she is standing up, a man in a black muscle shirt walks by a stripper. When Matt sits down, the man is gone and isn't seen taking a seat anywhere. (00:43:15)

Continuity mistake: When Matt is looking out the window at Danielle, Klitz is wearing a long-sleeved shirt. Later in that scene, despite being in the same class, his shirt is now totally different. (00:21:40 - 00:22:08)

Continuity mistake: When Hunter is in the sex education video he switches from the right side of the screen to the left.

Audio problem: During the scene at the AVN convention, when Matt sees Danielle by her big poster dancing and signing autographs for a group of fans, he walks over and starts pleading his true feelings and asks her to come down and talk to him. Right as he pleads, "This is all my fault", the camera shot slightly to the left and behind Matt does not show his lips moving at all.

Danielle: Ooh, boxers.
Matthew: I always wear boxers. You just caught me on a weird day.

Trivia: In the director's commentary, Luke Greenfield revealed that during the scene where Emile Hirsch is getting a lap dance in the strip club (the scene might have been removed in the theatrical version) they had to put about 4 pillows between Emile Hirsch and the stripper. This was due to the fact that Emile Hirsch was only 17 when the film was made and under child pornography laws he could not have a naked woman touch his body. (00:42:40)

Question: What was the point of the police officer being in a crash at the beginning of the film. I didn't really see the point of it as it didn't play any part in the storyline.

Answer: While it doesn't have anything to do with the overall plot, the crash shows just how much Matthew is afraid to do the wrong thing and perhaps how he overthinks things. As we know all he would be doing is missing a bit of school by getting in his car and driving from the school. The fact that Matthew is able to imagine an horrific crash of a security guard because of just skipping school shows how worried he is about doing the wrong thing.
