Spider-Man 2

Continuity mistake: Near the end of the film when we see Peter looking out of his window from his apartment, the girl from across the hall offers chocolate cake. When they are done eating, Peter is holding the fork with his thumb and in the following shot he is not. The fork has moved across the plate a little between shots. (01:17:30)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: There are two close-ups of Peter's head when he is lying on the floor of the train: one of the shots has a black shoe with white laces very near his head, the other a blue, white, and black shoe, also right next to his head. In the wider overhead shots of Peter, no one standing around him is wearing shoes like that, nor are they standing close enough for their feet to be in the close-up shot in the first place.

Continuity mistake: When the garbage man is in Jameson's office, and Jameson is holding the Spider-Man suit, he is holding it almost at arms length to his right, yet in the following shot, it's a lot closer to his body. (01:05:50)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When the garbage man enters Jameson's office, Jameson is holding a phone to his chest, yet in the following shot he is not holding the phone, and we didn't see him put it down in the previous shot. (01:05:40)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When the people are watching Doc Ock with his experiment, Rosie is standing at the bottom of the stairs. When Doc Ock passes her his coat, she is then seen in the background standing next to a large TV screen. (00:32:35)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When Peter starts to lose his powers, and tries to climb up the side of the building, in several shots, he is by a window, and he slips opposite the window, yet in the following shot he is a lot further above the window. His distance and position from the window changes in subsequent shots. (00:56:30)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When we see MJ and her fiancee in her room close to the end, MJ says to him "Lean your head back for me." Her hand is not in his hand in one shot, but is in another. (01:23:40)

Spider-Man 2 mistake picture

Continuity mistake: When Doc Ock escapes from the hospital, he hits a taxi with his tentacle. The taxi goes flying and is about to land on its roof in the middle of the street. The next shot however shows the taxi landing on top of another one, and the taxi is right side up.

Continuity mistake: After Doc Ock throws the car through the side of the deli, it shows Peter and MJ from outside the building and there's a table with a chair at the base of the hole right up next to the nonexistent wall. For the rest of the scene, the table and chair are not there.

bluedrop90

Continuity mistake: When Doc Ock robs the bank, Peter pushes Aunt May away, but in one shot he turns his chair to push away, yet in the following shot the chair is facing a different direction. (00:46:10)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man takes back his suit from Jameson's office, Jameson looks up at the skyline, and there are no steel or metal bars running over the skyline, yet when the camera zooms out with Jameson yelling "I want Spider-Man", metal bars have appeared over the skyline that were not there in the previous shot. (01:29:55)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: In the elevator scene when Peter/Spider-man first loses his powers, we see a man standing outside the elevator holding a dog on a leash. However, after Spider-man delivers the line about the costume riding up on the crotch, we see the man use both hands to adjust his jacket, and the leash is nowhere to be found, nor is their any indication that the dog is on the elevator. (00:29:30 - 00:30:35)

Peter Vanicelli

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when we see Peter in Jameson's office, the black guy says, "Five minutes to deadline Jonah." Jameson raises his hand to him, but in the following shot it's a lot lower. Also, when he's talking about a food poisoning scare, he raises his hand high up to the right, yet in the following shot, it's far to the left of him. (00:07:45)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: Just after the bank robbery, Doc Ock and Spider-Man are fighting on the side of the building. When some rocks fall down, there is a man (that looks like Stan Lee) pulling a girl away from falling debris. There is a red car to the right of the screen and a yellow taxi to the left, yet in the following shot from a different angle, there are a few more people in front of the red car, and no dust on the ground where the rocks hit the floor. (00:48:35)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: During the scene where Peter is on his way to the play, he stops the cop car flying through the air by catching it in a web, but the glass shards and debris which are flying along with the car are not in the web anywhere, nor do they hit the people in the path of the car.

bluedrop90

Continuity mistake: When Spider-Man is at the front of the train trying to stop it, the windows at the front are already smashed, yet when he spins a load of webs, the two panes at the front smash again. (01:34:35)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: As Mary Jane is reunited with John Jameson after Spider-Man lowers her down from the crane, one shot shows tears along Spider-Man's suit along the left leg while he is crouching. However, in a later shot, he stands up to swing away and the tears are now running along his right leg.

Continuity mistake: At the very beginning when Peter walks into the pizza place with his boss, a policeman walks out, In the following shot, the policeman has vanished. (00:03:30)

The-Immortal

Continuity mistake: After Peter came out of the deli, you could see and hear people running around screaming hysterically. But when the shot showed Peter's glasses falling to the ground in slow motion, you could see people were just walking down the street leisurely.

Plot hole: Harry tells Doc Ock that in order to find Spider-Man he must find Peter first. Doc Ock finds Peter with Mary Jane in the cafe and throws a car through the window straight at them, then later throws Peter against a brick wall. Any normal person would've been killed instantly (or very badly injured), and Doc Ock doesn't yet know that Peter is Spider-Man. Given that Peter is his only lead on Spider-Man, it makes no sense that Doc Ock would try to kill him.

Suggested correction: Doc Ock is being controlled by the arms. They aren't behaving rationally.

Creating a series of silly explanations for obvious plot holes never resolves them. These arms were not behaving irrationally. In many scenes they were shown to be very intelligent. A good example is the scene where they attack doctors who try to remove them from Doc Ock's body. Saying that they weren't behaving rationally is absurd.

He may not have been trying to kill Peter, he could've been trying to make more of a scene of his entry, so Peter would take him more seriously and tell him where Spider-Man was. He could've been thinking of it as a risk of killing Peter though, but his arms made him go crazy.

This is only a theory. Theories never resolve mistakes.

It's not a theory. When Otto is first giving his demonstration to everybody at his apartment, a woman asks if the advanced AI for the tentacles would make him susceptible to being controlled. Otto says that yes it would so he shows everybody the inhibitor chip that he designed so he would not fall under its control. After the inhibitor chip gets destroyed, it's seen that the tentacles have not only taken control of his mind by forcing him to commit crimes, but have slowly driven him insane.

This scene is much too confusing for many people. This entry is correct. This is a mistake.

If these tentacles wanted him to finish the experiment then they wouldn't make him kill the person who has valuable information for him.

The arms are influencing his thoughts but not controlling every part of him. Doc Ock still seems to have control when defending himself but they seem to work in tandem with Ock. The only time they work on their own is when he under anesthetic. As we don't see him before he throws the car, we can only speculate the arms were trying to hurt Peter by themselves.

Lummie

It's a cool scene regardless man.

Rob245

Killing Peter would probably send a message to Spider-Man as well, so Ock probably wasn't concerned about being gentle.

Answer: While it's never mentioned in the film, the most likely explanation is that Harry, as a rich kid, grew tired of "slumming it" and decided to move back into his mansion.
