Right before Cynthia comes over, Jack is looking into the mirror and getting ready. He picks up a gun shaped hair dryer and starts drying his hair. However his hair was already dry to begin with. [So, he was slightly balding, so it might make him feel younger to pretend he has more hair (i.e. by drying it). Also, his date is coming up, and he wants to style it with a hair dryer.]
