When the couple who own the grey dog are talking about how they met at Starbucks, the man says he was drinking a "Grande Espresso." Espresso is measured in shots (single, double, etc.), not cup size (tall, grande, etc.). [It's his story, he can describe it whichever way he likes. Even if it's a "character mistake", it's what he calls them.]

Mistakes
The gay couple checks in first, the terrier couple (the Flecks) second. Both couples check in on the same day. The clock at the desk is at 4:30 for the gay couple, but 3:10 for the Flecks, who arrived after them. See more...
Trivia
This isn't really a mistake, but it is pretty humorous. When Hamilton and Meg enter the airport with their dog, a "No Dogs Allowed" sticker can be seen on the sliding door. See more...

Comments made in brackets are corrections from other visitors. As such, any aggressive/abusive corrections (and I get quite a few) written as if they're comments I've made myself will be ignored. To submit your own corrections for mistakes, just click the edit icon under an entry, then choose "correct entry". Some entries have "duplicated entry" after them - these are entries which were already listed on the main page, but were submitted again. I occasionally leave these online for a while, just in case they were moved in error, so don't worry about pointing them out to me.

At the beginning of the TV coverage of the show, the title on the screen reads "25th Annual Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show", but the TV announcer says "Welcome to the 45th Annual Mayflower Kennel Club Dog Show". [The announcer gets pretty much *everything* wrong, such as "Columbus landing the Mayflower in Philadelphia", so it not surprising he would get the title of the show wrong. His near total lack of knowledge is a running joke throughout the movie.]
Near the beginning of the film when Harlen Pepper is bragging about his dog Hubert he comments that he's had him for about 10 or 15 years. Later at the dog show, the announcer says that he thinks Hubert is just too young to be a serious contender. 10-15 years is actually pretty old for a dog. [Harlan says he has owned bloodhounds for 10-15 years, not this particular dog.]
Near the very end of the movie, it says, "6 months later." But when we see the person who made the magazine "American Bitch" she says that it has been a year (not six months). [She doesn't say it's been a year since the dog show - she says it's been quite a year; presumably, she's including the loss of the show with all of the other changes in her life over the past year.]
When the competitor with the braces is in the toy shop, she picks up the fish. The first time she yells, "This is a fish." the fish's head is facing her. When it cuts back and she mentions that it is a fish for the second time, the fish's head is facing away form her. [The camera cuts away and cuts back. There's plenty of time for her to turn the fish to look at it from a different angle.]
When the gay couple checks into the Taft Hotel, the desk clerk says they've booked a room for two nights. But when Steven is on the phone saying goodnight to Tyrone, he says they'll be home tomorrow. [It is quite possible that they would be going home right after the show (tomorrow), but if they stayed past check out time on the second day, they would have to pay for two nights.]
After the judge examines Winkie she asks Gerry to take "her" down from the pedestal and walk the dog around. Cookie and Gerry refer to Winkie as "he". [It is rather hard to tell female dogs from male dogs unless you get real close and look. My male german shepard was always thought to be female even by trained dog judges.]
When Gerry and Cookie are trying to check in at the Taft hotel, pay attention to the wall clocks behind the manager. A series of clocks such as these are to display times in several major US cities - each in a different time zone. All clocks, however, show the same time. Plus, the times never change during the scene. [All of the labels under the clocks are of cities in the Eastern Time Zone. That is why they are all set the same.]
