Toy story 3 was the perfect ending to this franchise but toy story 4 is incredible its easily the funniest film in the series the new characters are all scene stealers and the emotion is strong there are so many touching and moving scenes and the ending was perfect. A must see.

I saw this movie in theaters with my mom and my son.

I was skeptical at first going in. Needless to say with how Toy Story 3 ended and was like the perfect ending to the series.
I grew up with these movies, with the first one coming out when I was 5. So I could relate to Andy's journey through these films very well.

They hold a childhood nostalgia for me and I thought that the end of Part 3 was a perfect book end to leave the franchise on.
I heard that the developers weren't planning to make a 4th one, but then they had an idea for another story but would not do it unless they knew for sure they could make it as good or better than the third. So I remand optimistic about it.

Then I went and saw it in theaters...
and I was not disappointed!

I loved this movie! It continues the journey of Woody in this new mid life crisis story arch for him under his new kid in a very good and organic way. The flow is great and things get crazy after his new kid makes a new toy of her own. The path is set and our heroes have new hurtles to over take.
The villain of the film was very well done to. At first I thought she was pretty generic and stock, but as the film progresses and you learn more about her... you find that isn't true at all. And her character arch is beautiful. I was feeling more sorry for her than even Woody.

The movie will hit you right in the feels to, many times. There was only really 2 big scenes in Toy Story 3 that got everybody crying. However there are a lot more in this film and scattered all through out. This is the most emotionally driven and mature of the franchise by far and I loved it.

My only beef with the film is how most of the other side characters, including Buzz, seemed to get more of the shaft or put on the back burner for the film. And how it ends, it seems that if there is a 5th, they might not even be in the movie at all.

Speaking of which, the way the movie ends, I can see where they could possibly go with yet a 5th film. And honestly, if they can keep making them this good, I wouldn't mind that at all. It's rumored there will be a 5th and possibly even a 6th movie. And with how great these films are, I look forward to the future.

Tory Story 4 just might be my new favorite of the entire franchise.

Mistake Status: N/A Didn't really see any in theaters.

Continuity mistake: At the beginning, when Andy gives Woody to Bonnie, their interaction and how Bonnie reacts is quite different than the previous film. At the end of Toy Story 3, when Bonnie sees Woody still inside the box she says "My cowboy!," then Andy describes in detail why Woody is so special and gently hands the toy over to Bonnie, and she quietly hugs Woody. In this movie Andy is holding Woody when Bonnie says, "My cowboy!," then Andy gives the toy to Bonnie and she hugs Woody. (00:06:20)

Suggested correction: This may not be a valid correction, but that scene was really just a summary of how it went, kind of like a backstory or a memory. In a backstory events do not have to play out exactly how and when they were, just mainly the important things that happened.

They could easily show correctly how it happened without harming the story in any way.

Woody: Ya know, you've handled this lost toy life better than I could.
Bo Peep: Open your eyes, Woody. There's plenty of kids out there. Sometimes change can be good!
Woody: You can't teach this old toy new tricks.
Bo Peep: You'd be surprised.

Trivia: Don Rickles was signed on to reprise his role as Mr. Potato Head, but sadly died before recording any dialogue for the film. However with his family's approval, the production team went through everything he'd recorded in the past for the Toy Story franchise, including games, shorts, theme park material, etc. They managed to get together enough previously-unheard material that could be used for this movie, ensuring his characterisation could live on.
