Mission: Impossible - Fallout

Stupidity: After the team break Solomon Lane out of custody, they drive around Paris with him in the front seat of their car. Lane is still wearing a straightjacket, bound in chains and has a black bag over his head. The IMF team drive him through crowded streets, past multiple police cars in full view of everyone just minutes after an armoured convoy transporting a dangerous prisoner (who everyone is now looking for) has been attacked. None of the Parisian police seem to notice this and none of the IMF team questions the tactical soundness of this approach.

Suggested correction: What's stupid about this approach? The IMF team is trusting that with their skills and experience they can easily evade any police that spot them. Which of course they do. Placing Lane in the trunk would have kept him out of sight but that doesn't really matter because they weren't planning on sneaking him out, they were planning on a quick escape.

Factual error: The number plate on the white van that Ethan, Luther, Benji and Elsa are travelling in has 8 digits instead of the 7 of a normal UK number plate.

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: The number plate is the Norwegian format. Likely acquired whilst in mainland Europe.

The text on the side of the van says "London and the Home Counties" so driving on Norwegian plates would be incongruous and draw attention. Surely something you would not want in a covert van. If you're picking apart the van, why no phone number or website for the fake company. Again, it just looks wrong.

That doesn't change the fact that it has a valid number plate. Within the EU vehicles can be used in any country, provided they meet the local legal requirements. In the case of the UK, that is being up to date with any servicing and the vehicle being insured. It is not a movie mistake that the van exists or that it could be in London. They used a van they had access to.

Continuity mistake: When Benji is sitting back to back with Soloman Lane to duplicate Lane's face, his jacket is green, then they cut to face Luther asking whether Benji is OK, when they cut back, Benji's jacket is the same brownish color of Lane's jacket. Later, Benji wears the green hued jacket again when talking to Luther and Elsa. (01:23:30)

Benji Dunn: This is a bad idea.
Luther Stickell: Is it ever a good one, honestly?

Trivia: Jeremy Renner was meant to reprise his role for the film, after appearing in the previous two movies, but he was unable to due to his commitments to the film "Avengers: Endgame." It has been hinted that his character Brandt might return in a future film, however.

Question: What's the idea behind the name 'Nils Debruuk'? It's stated he's Norwegian, but 'Debruuk' doesn't sound Norwegian at all, more like someone from the Netherlands?

Answer: Nils Debruuk could be Norwegian by nationality, rather than by race if his parents, Grandparents, etc. immigrated to Norway. He may also be part Norwegian on his maternal side if his mother had a child by someone from another country. It is also possible his mother was full-blooded Norwegian and his father was half and had a non-Norwegian father. There's a number of possibilities. I did an Internet search on the name. In that form, I didn't find anything as a surname. There is De Bruuk, which is an area in the Netherlands.
