Plot hole: In the Season 2 episode "The Homecoming", when Mr. Ballentine is telling Emily about her assignment, he sets the blue folder down near his side of the desk before he gets up. Then we see Emily pull it across the table and quickly peek in it. When Ballentine turns around, the folder is still close to Emily, which shows that she at least tried to look in it, yet Ballentine says nothing about it no longer being in the spot where he set it down. If Emily thought that it was okay for her to look in the folder, she wouldn't have waited for Ballentine to turn around before she touched it.
Factual error: In the episode where Kyle, Lori, and Josh first go to the pool together, Kyle jumps off the diving board, but he's only in the water for about three seconds before he sees Amanda, who is already swimming toward him. This means that he was in the water for just a second or two before she jumped in. That isn't enough time for anyone to appear to be drowning, especially to a trained lifeguard like Amanda.
Continuity: In the Season 2 episode "What's The Frequency, Kyle?", Steven tells Kyle that he wrote a letter to his father, and that his father ripped it into pieces in front of him. Later in the episode, when Steven finds the letter in his dad's Bible, it has a couple of small tears around the edges, but is otherwise in one piece.
Continuity: This is actually both continuity and character mistake error. In the scene where Kyle helps Josh with his math test, the first time we look at the test, Josh has stuck in problem number 3, and in the problem above, number 2 has already given the answer "A". The second time we see the test, they jumped in problem number 13, which ironically in the previous shot was half covered with the kid's hand, so obviously he couldn't look at it. Also he has now answered question 12 above as well. Moreover Kyle says the correct answer is X=49. It's a complete random answer that has nothing to do with either question 3 or 13. In question 3, "X" isn't even mentioned and is just a multiple choice between A and E. In problem 13, if we do the math, we have X<4.5. In simple words, X must be smaller than 4.5, but Kyle says 49. Considering that Kyle is a math genius, it's impossible to have given such a stupid answer.
Plot hole: About three and a half minutes into the episode, Kyle looks through the photo album and sees a picture of his fake mother (the woman paid to pretend to be his mother) giving him a dog for Christmas. Two minutes later in a different scene, the paid parents claim in front of everyone that they're both allergic and had no pets. So by now it's obvious they're lying. Another two minutes later in another scene, Kyle's foster parents are looking through that same album and nobody ever notices the inconsistency.
Deliberate "mistake": When Ballantine shows Stephen and Kyle the room with the C.I.R. chair, they have to remove everything metal they have on them (because the room is basically one big magnet). Ballantine takes off his Latnok ring, but he's still wearing a metal belt buckle, and he never takes it off. Sure, it isn't a whole lot of metal, but neither is the ring.
