The prostitute is supposed to be the Blue Fairy, Oleg being captured by the homeless man is Little Red Riding Hood. Above all, the town's name, though never stated, is Grimley. When Joe and Oleg are in the hockey rink, the men shove Joe down on the ice, and the hockey players slap pucks into his face, causing him to lose a lot of blood. The movie was filmed in 2004, but it took 2 years to do the editing and adding detailed CGI for gun effects and blood.
The sequence which reverses the bullet going through the window, through the bread, and into the wall, in exception for the windows shattering, was not CGI. It was Paul Walker's brother who was sitting at the table with the family. This was confirmed in the documentary on the DVD.
