Continuity mistake: When Kate is eating the olives at the Christmas party it shows her with only one left. It then cuts back to Jack Campbell and when it cuts back to Kate she suddenly has two left on the toothpick.

Factual error: In the bowling alley scene, Jack's friend tells him that Kate is well-liked in all of Union County, but in the movie, Jack and Kate live in Teaneck, which is in Bergen County.

Continuity mistake: When Jack is watching CNBC the bottle of Yoohoo changes position when he yells "thats my deal" and then it changes back again.

Visible crew/equipment: When Cage exits his office building on Christmas Eve, the reflection of a boom mic is visible in the revolving doors.

Visible crew/equipment: In the scene when Jack and his friends are at the bowling alley, Jack bowls down the aisle. When the bowling ball is just about to hit the ten pins you can see a reflection of the camera filming the scene in the shining bowling ball.

Factual error: The movie, set in December 2000, depicted Christmas Eve as a weekday although it was actually Sunday.

Continuity mistake: In the bowling alley scene when Jack is talking to his best friend Arnie about the Fidelity Bank and Trust things move around on the table top. In one view Arnie's beer and glove are touching. The camera cuts to Jack and then back to Arnie where the glove and beer are now inches apart.

Revealing mistake: In the bowling alley scene where Jeremy and Nick are discussing the red-haired woman, you can see Nick shaking from laughter and even hear it. It is easier to spot if you have watched the outtakes. Nick simply could not contain his laughter during this scene and so they just shot him from behind and left it in. This happens in another scene as well, when they first enter Jeremy's "manly" den. These two were just having too much fun filming this movie. Watch the outtakes.

Tiffany Fife

Continuity mistake: After Jack makes the chocolate milk for his daughter, the size of her milk mustache changes back and forth in the following shots.

Other mistake: Jack's friend Bill (Tom McGowan) was scheduled to have heart bypass surgery, but he is bowling the next day or shortly thereafter.

Continuity mistake: When Jack is changing the baby's diaper, a package of diapers appears on the table.

Annie: Do you like kids?
Jack: On a case-by-case basis.
Annie: Do you know how to make chocolate milk?
Jack: I think I could figure it out.
Annie: Promise you won't kidnap me and my brother and plant stuff in our brains?
Jack: Sure.
Annie: Welcome to earth.

Question: In the scene on the stairs with the chocolate cake when he pushes cake in Kate's face - was that supposed to happen? I ask because she is laughing so hard, and after a second or 2, Nicolas looks up as if to look at the director.

Answer: Http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Family-Man, -The.html ///// In section 69 /// jack (out of breath) I want it... She looks at him, then takes the whole piece in her hand and smooshes it right in his mouth... Beat. Then, Jack starts laughing... jack (CONT'D) Thank you... KATE It's good, right? He takes a big clump of it and smooshes it in her mouth. They stay there a moment, lying on the stairs, feeding each other cake, laughing. Jack leans back on the stairs. He looks at Kate's face, practically covered in cake, smiling, and realises... ...he hasn't laughed like this in thirteen years. Then.

Is it clear if that's a transcript of the film or the original shooting script? Because if the former it doesn't really answer the question.

Jon Sandys

That's the original script. A transcript of the film after it has come out does not contain blocking information or information about the character's mindset. Those only contain dialogue and the name of the music scores playing similar to movie subtitles. An original script contains blocking and the character's mindset to give the actors/film crew an idea of what to do and the meaning of the scene.
