Continuity mistake: When the killer is using the R/C car bomb to follow Harry and his partner; as the R/C car approaches Harry's stopped car, it starts to swerve to the left, as if to go around. However, in the next shot, the R/C car is perfectly straight again, and lined up to go under Harry's car.
Capt. Donnelly: 13,453 dollars and 63 cents. That's how much an unmarked squad car costs this department. That's the third goddamned car you trashed this month.
Harry Callahan: Lou Janero.
Capt. Donnelly: What?
Harry Callahan: It's his men who shot up the car, why don't you send him the bill?
Trivia: When Jim Carrey auditioned for the film, he did not do any scenes from it. He did his Las Vegas Elvis show. Eastwood and others in the room could not stop laughing.
Question: At the beginning after Callahan has killed two guys who shot at him, the third is running away. In real life, would he have faced charges for this? The first two were self defense but the 3rd guy was running away. He is not the type of person to deny the shooter was fleeing and not a threat.

Chosen answer: Under those circumstances, when someone has just committed an extreme act to protect themselves it would be hard to claim that the third shooting was deliberate murder, that he was thinking normally, and that there was no further danger. From Callahan's perspective, he might have believed the shooter was not actually fleeing and still posed a threat if he came back.
