Revealing: In the scene where Edward Burns, Paul Giamatti and Brian Van Holt are at Big Al's house, Big Al is dead in his chair with his eyes open. As Edward Burns walks in front of him, Big Al blinks his eyes.
Visible crew/equipment: When Jake introduces Lily and Lupus to the other two guys the white screen is visible in Lupus's left glass lens at the beginning of the scene.
Continuity: Just before Jake fights Lupus, he takes off his tie. In the following shots the tie is alternately on and off.
Continuity: While Manzano is asking Jake about Gunther, Lily is standing in the background. In alternate shots she keeps switching between holding on to the strap of her bag and fiddling with some keys.
Continuity: When Ed Burns gets shot at the end of the film you can see the outline of the protective vest he is wearing underneath his shirt to make the shooting look legit.
Continuity: As King examines Jake's hand at the club, King's coffee cup rotates. He had put it down with the handle facing the wall; when Jake's hand is shown the handle is facing out.
Continuity: When Dustin Hoffman first meets Rachel Weisz he puts his hand on her upper chest and in the next shot he moves his hand to touch her chest as if it is the first time he has touched her.
Continuity: When Lily returns to the guys with her new red hair Ed Burns turns to look at the guys. In the next shot he turns and looks again.
Revealing: In the scene where Travis cocks the gun and jams it in the back of Ed Burns' head, the gun is locked back in the empty position after it is cocked. This shows the gun was in fact, empty the whole time. Not much use threatening someone with an empty gun.
Revealing: In the scene where the fed's cars drive in to arrest the two crooked cops, there are tyre marks on the tarmac, right hand side of the screen, probably left there from a previous take.
Continuity: In the early scene in the bar, Ed Burns' shirt is splattered with blood. A few minutes later they flashback to the same scene as he is explaining the con to us. The blood on his shirt is a completely different splatter pattern.
Continuity: When Ed Burns first meets Dustin Hoffman, Dustin is interviewing two new strippers: a tall brunette on the left and a shorter one on the right. They suddenly switch places halfway through the scene.
