The shopping mall used in this film is the same one that was used in Terminator 2.
A sequel idea was considered, but Arnold was not interested. The idea eventually became 'Die Hard' (1988), three years later. Arnold is still referenced with the line, "Enough plastic explosive to orbit Arnold Schwarzenegger", spoken by Bruce Willis.
