At the end of the film, when Ramu is on the Sally Jesse Raphael show, even if it was being broadcast live in New York, it certainly wouldn't be broadcast live in India for his family to watch. Near the start of the film, when Ramu's cousin bangs on the door of the flat, he lets his Indian/American accent slip, shouting "Open up. Immigration" In a London accent. [Ramu's cousin would naturally have a British accent since he himself had moved from India only recently. Many Indians have British accents because of the British influence on India and its former role in the British Empire.]
