Plot hole: When Ritchie appears at a pizza party sponsored by a local radio station, his manager Bob Keane is handing out copies of Ritchie's first album. In reality, the album had not been released until April 1959, two months after Ritchie's death. As the actual LP includes his biggest hit "Donna", Ritchie had not yet recorded (or even composed) the song in this part of the movie until a few scenes later.

I loved this movie. It was one of the best movies I saw in the 1980's, but the only thing I could not understand was why Bob was looked at so negatively by Ritchie and his mother. He was the reason that Ritchie had a chance to be successful, because he got them out of that village in Northern California. If he hadn't, he would have been stuck there and would not have had the chance to do everything he did later.
Bob Morales: Look it's Woody Woodpecker and Buzz Buzzard, Man they make cartoons here.
Trivia: At the dinner party, while somebody is recording with a camera, there a lady with blonde short hair, she is Concepcion Valenzuela, Ritchie Valens' real life mother.
