Labyrinth (1986)
Ending / spoiler
Directed by: Jim Henson
Starring: Jennifer Connelly, David Bowie, Shelley Thompson, Toby Froud
Sara defeats Jareth and is brought back to her house, where she finds Toby sleeping. She goes into her bedroom and puts the Labyrinth book into her dresser drawer, with the pictures of her mom. She looks into her mirror and in the reflection Sir Didymus, Hoggle, and Ludo say goodbye to her. Hoggle is the last to appear and she tells him she will need him once in a while in her life. He is glad to hear that so Sara turns around in her chair and most of the creatures from the Labyrinth join her in her room and have a party. Outside Sara's window is the owl and he flies off into the night.

Answer: The necklace is a symbol of Jareth's power throughout the story. All the time that Sarah is in the Labyrinth, Jareth has more power than her, because she doesn't really know what she's doing, and isn't taking one particular path, just getting lucky at the right times. At the end, as we all know, Sarah triumphs, and Jareth's necklace changes to admit his defeat.
