Trivia: The name of the L.A. University where Jim is a professor is not pointed out, but it must be fictional. The West L.A. College (WLAC) has a basketball team nicknamed the "Wildcats" and Lamar's basketball uniform (white with red lettering and trim) looks strikingly similar to those worn by WLAC Wildcats, but WLAC is a community (two-year) college where Lamar could not be a "junior."

Revealing mistake: Jim parts his hair on the left side. The stacks of his books on display in the hallway include a photo of him with his hair parted on the right side, but otherwise looking the same.
