Sink the Bismarck picture

Corrected entry: In the scene where Kenneth More first enters the operations room he complains about a naval rating's uniform while his own jacket is not properly buttoned up.

Correction: So? During my 'nasho' - National Service - in the Navy officers would pull this kind of stunt all the time. Just telling us who was in charge, as they did (and, no doubt, still do). Note from Submission Checker: I, too, have heard of this, just yesterday 10/28/05, in the Army National Guard.

Psycho picture

Corrected entry: In the closing scene, right before Marion's car is pulled out of the swamp, Norman Bates, or 'Mother' at this point, is sitting in a chair talking to himself. Watch his face closely before it shows Marion's car, and you can see the skeleton of Mrs. Bates superimposed over him.

Correction: Any information that can be gained simply by watching the film is not trivia.

The Alamo picture

Corrected entry: Watch Travis after he is killed in the movie. As the Mexicans run past him, he moves his left hand out of the way.

Correction: Perhaps the actor really did move his hand to avoid having it stepped on by the Mexicans. However, in the context of the film, we don't know for sure that Travis was dead before hitting the ground. It's quite possible that Travis involuntarily moved his left hand just before dying.

Spartacus picture

Corrected entry: In the scene where Gracchus is giving money and travel permits to Batiatus and Varinia, he mentions that one of his innumerable cousins is the Governor of Aquitania. Aquitania would not become of a province of the Roman Empire for more than 40 years following the time of Spartacus' revolt.

Correction: The key word is 'innumerable'. Gracchus' "cousin" is not a Roman citizen, and the title 'Governor' was a misnomer - he was more correctly a warlord or provincial dictator. Aquitania held very close links with the Roman Empire for centuries before it was annexed, and intermarriage and cross-migration was very common.

The Lost World picture

Corrected entry: The dinosaur in the boiling water is carnivorous, and doesn't have that much trouble horking down part of the group - but it doesn't have any teeth to chew with.

Correction: Snapping turtles are carnivorous reptiles that do not have teeth. Teeth are not a necessity for a carnivore.

The Time Machine picture

Corrected entry: In the scene where Rod Taylor gets away from the lava and escapes into the future, he's encased in a mountain for eons. He says that he had to wait centuries for the mountain to wear down around him. Seeing as he can hear sounds, the oxygen must remain a constant inside and outside the machine, so while he's waiting for solid rock to wear away through erosion, what can he possibly be breathing in that time? Any air that may have been carried along within the confines of the machine would have run out and he would die, not just swoon as he did in the movie. He would also need to contend with the poisonous gases given off by lava as well as his own carbon dioxide.

Correction: Two possible explanations: 1. He only needs as much oxygen to survive the time he is indeed travelling (he's driving very fast, so from his point of view the rocks wear away in seconds). It is not implausible that there is still sufficent oxygen in the time machine for this short period of time. 2. As long as he is in the time machine his interacting with matter is different and therefore he is protected against forces from outside (as can be seen when his house burns away in WW1 or the lava encompasses his machine).

The Magnificent Seven picture

Corrected entry: During the opening scene, Calvera is drinking from a cup in his left hand. A few shots later, just as he finishes talking, it switches to his right hand.

Correction: "A few shots later" is more than enough time for him to change hands.

Ocean's Eleven picture

Corrected entry: Duke offers to get the casino owner's money back for a cut of 30%. When he figures out that Danny's group has the money, he demands half. Bad deal - he'd have to have 70% just to break even.

Correction: Santos appears yes to be a rather greedy character. But even so he is ready to go behind the casino owners because of Jimmy's mother who he is going to marry. Specifically stating to Danny Ocean that if he and his friends had been professionals mobsters, he would have put them out but because of Jimmy he rather just get in on the whole thing. So this is more of a character actually willing to cut down a bit the money he gets rather than plot hole. Of course with the threat of taking this all to the police if they refuse.
