Trivia: The detectives who are investigating Arthur throughout the movie are Detective Garrity and Detective Burke. In "The King of Comedy", inspiration for this movie, Rupert Pupkin was investigated by inspector Gerrity and Captain Burke.

Trivia: David Suchet performed all the various conjuring tricks Poirot is trying to pull off. The illusionist in the theater show at the beginning is the late Patrick Page, real life stage magician and coach/consultant for the episode.

That's an obvious reference to producer David Puttnam (two Ts), who had a brief stint as head of Columbia Pictures in 1986-87, not making many friends in the then Coca-Cola owned production company. Trivia: Poirot in the ship's lounge is reading the actual May 1st 1935 issue of Bystander (recognizable by the cover and with the correct page order, does not seem to be a simple movie prop), roughly consistent with the time frame of the first season and a contest taking place on the 14th. Trivia: When Lockhart is in the sensory deprivation tank, the nurse that does a poor job of keeping an eye on him is reading "Der Zauberberg" by Thomas Mann, which obviously has at that point a common premise with the movie (the main character goes to a sanatorium in the Alps just as a visitor but ends up as an inmate). The novel was inspired by Mann's visit to his wife at a Swiss sanatorium which happened in 1912, same year as the picture fully unveiled in the finale.
