Question: When Dr. Evil demands $100 billion in 1969, the President laughs it off and says that amount of money doesn't even exist. However, the U.S. budget in 1969 was $186 billion. Does the President just mean that much physical money doesn't exist? If so, how did the government pay for things back then? Did they just reallocate funds?

Answer: I think it was just exaggerated as a gag. But he was asking for a huge amount of money that probably couldn't get pooled together. He was asking for almost 10% of the U.S. GDP and more than 50% of the budget. So it would have been like asking for $1 trillion in 1999 (or over $2 trillion today).

Independence Day (1996)

Trivia: When Steve is dragging the unconscious alien through the Bonneville Salt Flats, at one point he shouts out "What the hell is that smell!?" This was not in the script, but rather Will Smith ad-libbing in response to the strong sulfur-like smell emanating from treated wastewater near the Great Salt Lake. (01:07:40)

The Phoenix Saga (2): The Dark Shroud - S3-E4

Continuity mistake: When Gambit is getting ready to attack Dark Xavier, the ticket booth behind him is unoccupied. When Dark Xavier deflects Gambit's kinetically charged playing card to the ticket booth counter, a man is now inside the booth. The bottom center window also goes from being closed to being open. Trivia: This film marks the debut appearance in the MCU of the classic Marvel villain The Mandarin. He was referenced all the way back in the first Iron Man film and was promoted as the main antagonist of Iron Man 3, with the iteration of the character ending up being a bait and switch. Part of the reason the character took so long to make it to the screen is because of the problematic stereotypes associated with him, combined with Disney's business partnership with China.

Savage Land, Strange Heart (1) - S3-E8

Revealing mistake: When Zaladane is helping Sauron escape, she uses her staff to reveal a hidden stairway in the floor. As Sauron descends the steps, the opening fades back into resembling the floor to suggest it is being hidden again, but Sauron fades away as well. It should be that Sauron walks out of view, and then the opening fades back into the floor. (00:02:56)

Factual error: At the end of the episode when Carol Danvers is shown comatose, there is an EEG machine next to her bed. This machine monitors brain activity and uses electrodes on the patient's head in doing so. She has no electrodes placed on her head, and the machine isn't detecting activity in her brain. The Punisher (2004)

Trivia: In the years following its release, the skull logo used in this film had been co-opted by Blue Lives Matter advocates and American far-right conservatives, including some of the Capitol insurrectionists of January 6th. Punisher co-creator Gerry Conway and Jon Bernthal - who would later portray the Punisher in the Netflix series - have criticized these groups for misunderstanding and appropriating the character. Punisher #13, which was released in July 2019, even had a scene that depicted the Punisher beating up and admonishing cops who idolized him.
