Scream 3 (2000)

Other mistake: On the back cover of Scream 3 in the Scream trilogy on DVD, the town of the original killings is referred to as Greensboro twice. The correct name of the town is Woodsboro, of course.

Suggested correction: I'm not "correcting" this per se, but I'm wondering if there should be either a separate type of mistake for things like DVD/Blu-Ray cases or posters (Ex. "Multimedia and Marketing Mistakes" or something like that), or if these things would be better classified as trivia? Especially since it's not something everyone can necessarily observe watching the movie itself. (Ex. My Blu-Ray and 4K releases don't have this mistake.) If not, feel free to downvote/delete this. I've just seen a few of these mistakes over the years here, and it always seems a little off to me since it's not something wrong with the film itself.

TedStixon

I agree these aren't valid movie mistake if the studio wasn't involved in the mistake. It could be trivia if only certain home releases had them. These mistakes are like when episodes are aired out of order creating continuity issues,, streaming services make changes, or closed captioning (not subtitles) gets something wrong. It can't be considered a mistake of the film or TV series.

Bishop73

It's tricky - largely, if I'm honest, because adding new types to the site is incredibly fiddly. :-) There's also room for endless debate about what's a "mistake", whether it's about assigning specific blame or just looking for interesting stuff. Likewise things that can only be seen in slow motion, which arguably warrant a category to themselves because there are plenty of them, but then the "mistakes" section gets cluttered. Becomes a user interface issue as much as anything! Will think.

Jon Sandys

I'm not disagreeing with this post, it's the only way I can reply. But yes, for the first run of the VHS and the DVD of Scream 3, there is that typo on the back cover. Now knowing that, is that version worth more money?

Probably not, the chances of there being a collector's market for it is slim.

Ssiscool

While misprints can sometimes add to something's value, I don't think this would necessarily make this release more valuable. Perhaps the VHS version just because there is something of a collector's market for VHS tapes now. But the movies have been released on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K so many times, I don't see the DVD version being worth significantly more. (Unless you find a really weird collector who would specifically want THAT version.)

TedStixon

Yes, there is that typo. They were the first run of the VHS.

I didn't say there wasn't a typo. I was questioning whether a typo on the cover would technically qualify as a movie mistake, since it's not part of the actual film.

Deep Blue Sea (1999)

Corrected entry: Near the end of the film when LL Cool J gets bitten by the shark around his waist why doesn't he get ripped in half like all the others did when the shark first got them? (01:00:25 - 01:27:30)

Correction: If you remember when they are climbing up the maintanence ladder and carter is trying ot save Jan she gets caught by the shark around the middle but is not killed instantly.

Correction: He wasn't bitten on the waist; he gets bitten around his leg.

As is evident when lying on the pontoon at the end, you can see the bite mark on his leg.

The Terminator (1984)

Corrected entry: When Schwarzenegger runs the car into the wall, then goes to a room to patch himself up, he's wearing a grey jacket. When he leaves, he's now wearing a leather jacket.

Family5

Correction: We see the Terminator crash the police car wearing a grey jacket. Then we see Kyle and Sarah get arrested, and processed at the police station. Then we see the Terminator in a hotel room somewhere. More than enough time has passed for him to change/acquire a new jacket.

Revealing mistake: After Reese blasts the Terminator with his shotgun while at the Tech-Noir nightclub there should be huge holes in the Terminator's shirt and jacket, but there are none. (00:34:10)

Suggested correction: There are holes that appear in the Terminator's jacket and shirt. Most noticeable is when he is thrown through the glass out onto the street.

Commando (1985)

Continuity mistake: The police van with Matrix inside pulls away from Cindy and drives for about 30 seconds including the fact that Cindy fired two rockets at it, and, yet, when it stops it is still much too close to where they began and this is even after someone misfired a rocket at them. (00:54:50)

Suggested correction: A couple of things to point out here. First, the vehicle is a police van, which is going to be slower to accelerate than a car. Not by much, but enough. Secondly, the two cops are distracted by Cindy, thinking she is a hooker and is about to flash them. "I think she's got something for us." The cops are driving slowly at this point, note the speed of the passing streets. Then when she fires the first rocket, it causes both cops to look around to see what was happening - again slowing down.

Continuity mistake: At the shopping mall when Sully does the cash exchange (in the envelope) he picks up the money and puts in his pocket, then in the open shot it's back on the table. (00:32:00)

Suggested correction: The envelope contains passports, not cash. Sully takes the passports out and throws the envelope onto the table. We see him put just the passports into his left jacket pocket.

Corrected entry: In the dealership, Cooke never shifts the Cadillac into reverse, and yet instantly starts backing up after he says he likes "the price." The car would have had to be in Park or Neutral in order to be cranked up and would not start in gear. (00:02:50)

Correction: There are a couple of shots of the salesman where you can't see Cooke. In one of the shots of the salesman, he even says, "you can't do that." Easy enough to have done it then.

Continuity mistake: After the gas canisters are thrown into the rabble, Michael runs back up into his cell and puts his hands on the bunk, they are clean. The shot cuts to T-bag yelling up at him and when the shot goes back to Michael, his hands are covered in blood. (00:32:30)

Suggested correction: When Michael stumbles into his cell and leans against the wall, there are blood trails over his hands. He then stumbles against the bed, and his hands are out of shot but his wrists are still visible. Then, when he falls back against the wall, his hands are visible with the blood trails.

Have to disagree. Watched this clip on YouTube. There is paper on top of the copier and in the feeder. Even though the copier light is moving back and forth, the paper stays stationary.

Suggested correction: The skeleton could easily been washed away by the tsunami, it was definitely strong enough.

Agreed. The tsunami has enough force to move the remains. Especially as it appears to be a magical tsunami designed to wipe away whatever caused it.

Friends (1994)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: This isn't completely true. In the first shot, we see railing in the middle, as shown in the screenshot. Then, the shot changes to upstairs, looking down, and we can see the wall, as shown in the bottom picture. However, at the end of the wall, it goes into the railings, which is visible just as the pair start to climb the stairs. A screenshot of this can be seen here: https://ibb.co/bmZ8xTc, making it easier to understand.

Ssiscool

The problem with the screenshot is the right side is circled to show there's no railing, but the railing is on the left side (to the character's right), but Chandler is blocking the view of the railing. Ssiscool's screenshot is before Chandler starts to walk up the stairs, which is why it's seen.

Bones (2005)

Correction: Perfectly reasonable explanation for this: the cabinet is made of metal. Listen, when they break the lock, you can hear the metal being struck, and the metallic squeak as the door opens. Dr. Brennan even states that the victim was stored in a steel wardrobe, and that protected the remains.

Kelly's Heroes (1970)

Continuity mistake: While Big Joe is talking down to the Captain in the boat, Joe is blocking the stairs to the upper deck with his whole body. As the Captain moves up the stairs, Joe is off to the Captain's right. When the Captain emerges from the lower deck, Joe is dead center of the Captain and then moves out of the Captain's path. (00:12:00)

Upvote valid corrections to help move entries into the corrections section.

Suggested correction: Watch closely as the captain starts climbing the steps. Joe moves to the screen right ever so slightly but still covering most of the steps. When the shot changes to outside the boat, Joe is still slightly to the side of the steps with his arm across the rest. He then moves out of the way completely. No mistake here.

Suggested correction: When the TV set explodes, it's a close-up of the screen and no device is seen. When it changes to a wider shot of the actual explosion, the glass breaks and some components of the TV set are shown. There is no way to distinguish between what is a component and what is, as you say, an explosive.
