When Billy walks out with his hands up, there appears to be a well to his right (where the horse rail should be visible), but there is no well when Sara and Rio exit the cabin. (00:14:04 - 00:15:10)
Continuity mistake: In Central Park before meeting the toaster client, Peter Sarsgaard in the close-up has 2 tuning forks in his right hand and one in the left, but in the wider shot he has two in his left and one in his right as he picks up the mallet. (00:07:10)
Continuity mistake: Ryan is at the mailbox, looking through the envelopes. When Andy drives up, Ryan turns around with the mailbox door open. Andy grabs Ryan and pushes him several feet away from the mailbox. When Andy is driving away, the red flag on the mailbox is up. (01:08:28 - 01:09:22)
Continuity mistake: During the sign-up for the app at the beginning the girl says "I want to be Sarah." Look at her hair; mostly in front of her left shoulder, just a couple locks on the right side of her face. At the cut, hair behind the left shoulder and a bigger right bang. Camera angles and hairstyles switch again back and forth. (00:02:30)
Factual error: Russell said he served twenty-one years in prison because his last offense - possession of 30 grams of marijuana with the intent to distribute - counted as his "third strike" under California's "Three Strikes And You're Out" statute. When he was on the internet trying to locate his father (instead finding his obituary from 2001), information on the computer indicated it was now 2012. This would mean Russell was incarcerated since 1991 - and further indicates he was sentenced about three years BEFORE California's "Three Strikes And You're Out" statute was implemented. Also, 30g of marijuana is the limit for "personal use", so he wouldn't have been charged with intent to distribute. (00:16:15)
Other mistake: Daniel realises that Adereth gave him his own passport. When he looks at it, notice the machine code line; it's the passport of someone born on April 30, 1963, far off from Daniel's age, and more importantly, not matching the ID's date. October 10th 1982. (00:20:30)
Continuity mistake: The evil stepsisters shove Kat at the feet of Dominic with latte splattered all over her face. But the mess looks different in the various shots. For instance, in the close-up when he asks her if she's okay and if she hurt herself there's a big splotch by the corner of her mouth, which was not there earlier (she was dirty under the nose at most) and is gone in the next shot. Continuity mistake: The tassel on Molly's graduation cap disappears at the end of her speech, then reappears later.
Continuity mistake: When Aunt Sarah arrives, she dumps her luggage in the hands of Jim and then passes him to his right, leaving him between herself and the door. In the reverse shot, Jim is on the opposite side. (00:29:15)
Continuity mistake: When Tree wakes up from committing suicide with the drain cleaner, she starts pouring a water bottle into her mouth. In the wide shot, her mouth is wide open, her tongue is all the way in her mouth, and there's a steady stream of water pouring off her chin. But then it punches into a closeup, and her mouth is instantly halfway closed, her tongue is pushed forward, and the stream of water has suddenly slowed to a drip. Obviously a few seconds was cut for pacing, but still a mistake.
Continuity mistake: Ellen and Joe just got out of the motel room and begin walking towards the marina. Left of frame, a young couple (she has a cap and denim, he has a full carrot top and a bright red plaid shirt, can't miss them) walking up some stairs on the left, going in the same direction as they do, different path. At the next cut, they are walking down the same boardwalk as Ellen and Joe and in the opposite direction. (00:04:30)
Continuity mistake: After fifteen years, Bethany and Clara meet in unlikely circumstances, They are having a drink together on the porch; throughout the whole scene Clara's glass appears and disappears randomly, sometimes literally full to the brim. (00:02:15)
Continuity mistake: His pickup truck windows are down during the car chase but once the pickup submerges in water the windows are miraculously up, giving him a chance to escape. (01:21:30 - 01:29:00)
Deliberate mistake: The prisoners in the dark dungeon would not be able to read the letter (to Miss Dudley from Jason Flemyng that the carrier pigeon had) or see such a clear reflection by pouring water on the stone floor and holding the letter (written backwards) by the water. The room was suddenly lighter when doing so, but it wasn't clear where the light was coming from. Also, sunlight coming through the small window would not beam straight down along the wall. Continuity mistake: She is walking from the sofa barefoot, but when she puts down the school year book on the glass table you can see that she has slippers with diamond stones on. (00:28:00)
Continuity mistake: When Nicolas Cage aka Frank Walsh first shoots a blow dart at Kevin Durand aka Richard Loffler he hits him in the left shoulder. Ten seconds later Kevin he pulls the dart out of his right shoulder. (01:23:15)
Factual error: Attorney Aegis inappropriately rounded up/down a couple common statistics pertaining to the infamous Ford Pinto case, which resulted in a total that didn't add up: "it would cost the company $11 per Pinto to fix the problem. But with 12 million [should be 12.5] of 'em on the road, that would cost $137 million compared with $50 million [should be 49.5] to maintain the status quo. $137 million to fix a $50 million problem..." But 12 million x $11 = $132 million [not $137 million]. (00:24:38)
Continuity mistake: Watch the back seat during the pullover scene. The 3 in the back aren't always there together. Joe's by himself in some scenes. The ladies are missing Joe between them.
Continuity mistake: The protagonist is at the lunch table with his auntie, and is trying to get her to fund his 'enterpreneurial' efforts. After the prayer, she asks him "You want some hot sauce?" Eddie Murphy goes from having his hands joined to having them on his hips. (00:20:25)
