Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the book, chapter 53, when Alex Morse and Will are rushing to rescue her nephew from his father, the nephew is twice referred to as Ben. His name is actually Jamie.
Other mistake: In Chapter 9 when Alex and Sayle are having their snooker competition, the math is all wrong. Alex first establishes that there are 24 points on the board. Sayle then gets 1 point, but later fouls so that Alex gets 6 points, then runs the board and gets the remaining 23. This adds up to 29 points. But Alex says that he has won 4000 pounds, or has gotten 40 points.
Continuity mistake: Tom's jacket keeps reappearing constantly. He leaves it down in the tunnels in the beginning and is unable to go back and get it, yet after the lecture he gives it to Paul. Then when Paul and Tom are leaving the library Tom is magically wearing the jacket again.
Continuity mistake: Earlier in the series Amber says her teacher Mrs. Holt's name is Roberta, because she says "I think it should be Reporta". But in this book, she's making Christmas gifts having to do with her initials and she says her name is Olivia Holt.
Factual error: The young Augustus is called Octavian, however his name was actually Octavius. Octavian is short for Octavianus, which means "of the Octavius family" and was added to his name after Caesar's death. Augustus never acknowledged the name himself.
Factual error: Ayla can mimick a horse's whinny, a lion's roar and a bird's song so well that the animals themselves confuse her for the real thing. Ayla would not have the physical ability to produce those sounds, no matter how hard she practiced. A human simply cannot whinny or roar and sound just like the real animal.
Continuity mistake: When Ethelred is reading out the cockatrices' plans to the massed mythical creatures, one of them refers to "All dragons" pulling carts. What dragons? They stole the last dragon eggs from Tabitha to make dragons extinct.
Factual error: (CONTAINS SPOILERS) Detective Coogan finds an important clue by looking at the photo of Remembrer House, which appears to have been doctored. He is told by the photographer that someone else has the negative, but that the photographer made a "duplicate negative" and can give Detective Coogan a copy. However, this was in the days before digital cameras - and negatives are what happens when you take the actual film in the camera and develop it. It is impossible to make more than one - and even a beginning photography student would know that.
Continuity mistake: While hearing Fergus and Marsali having intercourse to get Marsali's labor started, Claire reflects on the same thing working for her to start her labor with Brianna. But in Voyager Claire mentions how having sex with Frank was an impossibility because her pregnancy was so dangerous.
Continuity mistake: Chapter Seven A: Post Haste. When Stanley shows Moist the new stamps it says "The boy put a sheet of stamps on the desk." But then Moist snatches the sheet from Stanley's hand.
Continuity mistake: In chapter 9, Fireheart takes Cinderpaw to see the Thunderpath. He asks her if she can smell anything apart from the monsters, she replies that she can smell shadowclan because she smelt the same scent on the kits that were taken: 'I remember that scent from when brokenstar attacked our camp. And it was on the kits he took'. But if you read the paragraph about finding the kits in shadowclan (very end of chapter 24 in Into the Wild) it says that "the last one was grey, like the embers of an old fire" and that she is a girl. The description sounds like Cinderpaw, and she is one of Frostfur's kits (like the ones who were taken), which means Cinderpaw was taken but says the scent was on the ones he took, meaning she wasn't one.
Continuity mistake: In the chapter called "The Park," when Grant sees the T-Rex, he states that the T-Rex was sleeping by the killed hadrosaur. Then later on in the same chapter, it says the juvenile T-Rex stood over the T-Rex's killed sauropod. It even goes on to say that the juvenile T-Rex steals a piece of meat from this sauropod and runs away with it. Sauropods and hadrosaurs are different dinosaurs.
Plot hole: (Spoiler alert!) At the end of the first part ('Search by the Mule'), when the Mule, Channis and Pritcher are on the planet Rossem, the Mule says he had to follow Channis because Channis is an agent of the Second Foundation, and as such, has the ability to resist the Mule reading his mind. Yet, at the end, when the Mule's ships are bombed Tazenda, just before the First Speaker arrived, the mule forcibly made Channis tell where the Second Foundation is (that is, what Channis thought about the whereabouts of the Second Foundation). Now how come that Channis couldn't resist the Mule on Rossem, but he could on Kalgan? The Mule was much more powerful than Channis on either planets.
Continuity mistake: The detective Kinsey Millhone is looking through her closet for something to wear to a party and comes across a green cocktail dress that was given to her in E is for Evidence that she "forgot she had". However, in E is for Evidence, Kinsey was hurt in a bomb blast and specifically says that this dress was cut off her in the emergency room so her wounds could be treated. Even if she bothered having the dress repaired, it was unlikely she would have forgotten about it, especially under the circumstances.
Factual error: At one point Rudi points at The Beano and asks who Desperate Dan is. But Desperate Dan is from the Dandy.
Plot hole: When Angela and Brom met in Teirm they did not appear to have ever met before. According to Jeod, when his character very first appears in the book, Brom has not changed since the last time they saw one another, quite a few years ago. Later on when Eragon is talking to Angela in her shop Angela says that shes a lot older than she looks. Nearing the end of the book, when Eragon and Angela are talking in her room, when Angela explains how she came to be in Tronjheim, Angela says that she met Brom once. But if neither of them has aged very much surely they would have recognised each other in Teirm?
Continuity mistake: When Evanlyn tells Will her real name on Skorghijl we hear Will's thoughts, he thinks that he is afraid of betraying Evanlyn to someone who has sworn to kill all of her family. It isn't until later that Will finds out that the oath Ragnak has given is to kill all of Evanlyn's family.
Continuity mistake: Towards the end of the book (p. 361 in my paperback edition) there is a chapter called "The Fifteenth Day: Friday, 17 December." The mistake is that the next chapter is called "The Sixteenth Day: Saturday, 17 December". The book has December 17th occurring two days in a row.
Continuity mistake: In 'Horrid Henry', Peter says that beetroot is his favourite, but in 'Horrid Henry dines at restaurant le posh', Peter says that he eats everything apart from beetroot.
Other mistake: 'Lottie and Evie sat cross legged on my bed' but the story is from Lottie's point of view so it should say Amber and Evie.
