Continuity mistake: When the two officers start to chase the BMW, the officer on the passenger seat takes off his sunglasses and puts on normal glasses. In the next shot (from the point of view of the news team) he wears the sunglasses again. (00:07:40)

Continuity mistake: Just before Natalie and Jack have sex in the BMW it is blue sky outside, Jack sees the sign for the Mexican border being 10 miles away then the camera shows the speedometer reading 90mph, therefore they would be at the Mexican border in under 7 minutes (unless they went a different route which they wouldn't want to do because they are being chased by the police) however in the next scene presumably after the sex it is dark outside and they still have 1 mile left (approximately) till they reach the road block at the border, surely the sun doesn't go down THAT fast.

Continuity mistake: During the car chase scene you see the same building on the passenger side of the road several times (It is the only building like it in Houston where it was filmed). So if the car was on a straight highway it wouldn't be passing the same building over and over.

Continuity mistake: Kristy Swanson vomits from the passenger side window of her car; the resulting mess ends up on the windshield of the ill-defined musical sensation turned actor Henry Rollins' police car. The incredible force of Ms. Swanson's projectile vomiting notwithstanding, as the chase progresses, Mr. Rollins' windshield becomes magically squeegee clean!

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the film when they're in the car, Natalie drops the cigarette lighter on Jack's trousers. Shortly afterward, the whole car is full of smoke. After they turn around a sharp corner, the camera switches to an outside shot in which the smoke is gone. In the next shot, back in the car, the smoke reappears. (00:10:40)

Continuity mistake: After Jack shoots out the cop car tire, Natalie accuses Jack of being "the epitome of violence". Jack then grabs her arm at the wrist. The camera angle changes and he's holding her hand. Camera angle changes back and he's holding her wrist again. (00:28:55)

Continuity mistake: When the cops first pull up beside the BMW and Jack pulls a gun out to shoot the cop with the shotgun, he hits a bump and blows the cop car's tire, causing it to flip. They show it flip behind the BMW, but the other 2 cop cars (on the passenger side and behind the BMW) have disappeared. (00:27:25)

Jason Sieberg

Continuity mistake: Throughout most of the film, the position of the following police car with the tv crew changes places instantly. (00:22:00)

Continuity mistake: During one of the first scenes in which a camera crew is riding with the cops, the view is from the rear of the cruiser looking through the windshield, and they are approaching a stop sign. The scene then changes camera angles and the conversation that had been taking place continues uninterrupted, but the background is suddenly completely different. (00:07:00)

Continuity mistake: Shortly after Jack takes Natalie hostage, during the early part of the chase through town, they keep showing brief close-ups of her face where she's not wearing a hat. This is before she loses her hat out the window of the car while getting carsick.

Continuity mistake: When the female hostage talks to the kidnapper, the window of the car is open when the shot was taken from outside the car. However, the window is closed whenever it was filmed from the interior of the car. This can be seen throughout the whole movie.

Continuity mistake: When Jack orders everyone on to the floor, the two cops and clerk are all stood together. When the camera cuts to the clerk diving on the floor they are spaced out more than they were in the previous shot. (00:05:30)

Continuity mistake: When the car joins the freeway, the revs meter in the car is shown to be hovering at 6,000 rpm. The camera cuts to an angle behind Jack, but the rev meter is now staying at just 2,000 rpm. This is an instant cut so no time for the dial to drop. (00:17:40)

Continuity mistake: At the end when Jack is arrested, there is a shot of him with his chin on the red BMW. Camera changes and he's about two feet away from the car. (01:16:45)

Continuity mistake: When the police car flips on the highway, there is no number on the roof of the car. Just after it hits the ground, number 805 has appeared on the roof of the car. (00:27:25)

Jack Hammond: That's the question on the minds of all your viewers? Whether I run out of gas or not? Tell you what, Jer. You let your viewers know that I hope Miss Voss' fear and my desperation are entertainment enough for them. After all, that is what this is all about, isn't it? The story. As it breaks. Live. Coming to you from the bad guy himself. I mean we wouldn't want your viewers to change the fucking channel, now, would we?

Question: There is a moment when a police officer, riding shotgun in a pursuit car, aims his shotgun out the window at the red car. Is he planning just to shoot the tires or to actually get a shot at Hammond? What is he trying to do before Hammond grabs the handgun and shoots out the cop car's tire?
