Poppy - S2-E8

Continuity mistake: In the final scene when the three squad cars, a Granada, a Triumph and a Cortina, are chasing the villain's Jaguar across the field, the angle changes and the Cortina has disappeared. When the chase changes to a lane the Cortina reappears. (00:46:36 - 00:47:22)

Poppy - S2-E8

Visible crew/equipment: When the squad cars are chasing the Jaguar across the muddy field you can see the camera vehicle in front of them is spraying up water from the wet grass. (00:46:36 - 00:47:14)

Faces - S2-E2

Continuity mistake: Carter is in the betting shop watching Albert Milligan, when Milligan goes out of the shop you can see through the doorway a red Fiat coupé parked outside the shop which is still there when Carter leaves the shop, but when the scene changes to outside the shop the red Fiat is parked outside the shop next door.

Continuity mistake: In the final car chase when Cooney jumps out of the car and it crashes into the barrels and explodes there is no-one on the back seat when the Princes should be there. (00:48:00)

Stoppo Driver - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: During the first car chase it's obvious two different cars are used as the squad car reg no NHK295M. On one car the front right hand wing has a broken indicator and damage around it and a radio aerial, the other one has none of this.

Season 1 generally

Audio problem: In some scenes the sound effect for the Ford Consul GT squad car is wrong - this car is fitted with a V6 engine but the sound is for a four cylinder engine.

Ringer - S1-E1

Character mistake: After Regan and co jump out the back of the police van and a punch up ensues, Brian Blessed quietly walks away to a white car to make his escape. Regan clocks this and goes after him. Brian Blessed lashes out and pushes Regan away, but growls "Carter..." instead.

Suggested correction: Brian Blessed growls 'cozzer', not 'Carter'.

What does cozzer mean?

"Cozzer" means "copper."

Trivia: The blue Ford Cortina squad car seen in series 1 and 2 has the reg number NHK 296M. Sometimes it is fitted with a false number DLO 97M on the front (as has been noted as a mistake). The programme makers had been supplied with two cars from Ford, this Cortina and a Consul GT. The Cortina was fitted with this false plate to make the squad look like it had more cars, and only one number plate (the white front one) was made up to keep costs down, as the Sweeney had a small budget. In the series 3 episode "Pay Off" DLO 97M is on a white Cortina, in series three the same Triumph 2000 is seen with number plates TPA 931N and UUV 931N - again it is the same car with different number plates.

Hit and Run - S2-E5

Question: Towards the end of this episode the squad car has to double park so Regan can use a phone box, as Regan gets out of the car a van has to drive round the squad car and the driver sounds the horn, Regan gesticulates and shouts "up yours" at the van driver. I wonder if this was scripted or was a random moment and John Thaw was ad-libbing?

Answer: Scripted.
