Another Man's Poison - S2-E14

Revealing mistake: Diamond's office building has an automated push-button elevator (quite a rarity in the 1950s). But when he and Hastings exit and walk into the hall, the elevator doors remain open long after they should have closed. There's also no break in the floor where the steel plating for the lift car ought to be, making it all the more obvious that it's a studio mock-up rather than a real elevator.

A Cup of Black Coffee - S2-E9

Escape from Oak Lane - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: The car that goes over the cliff is at least ten years older than the car it's supposed to be - the 1957 Plymouth Fury that Diamond was driving. It's obviously old 1940s stock footage.

Juvenile Jacket - S2-E11

Continuity mistake: The apartment manager scares off the street gang attacking Diamond. In full shot, Diamond is leaning over, arms spread across the hood of his car. When it cuts to a tighter two-shot, he's immediately standing straight as he talks to the manager.

Chinese Honeymoon - S2-E7

Continuity mistake: Diamond parks just inches behind an old car and then enters the Chinese restaurant. When he comes out again, the older car is in the same place, but his Plymouth has somehow moved itself back several feet.

A Cup of Black Coffee - S2-E9

Plot hole: Diamond is in a very small town in the middle of rural nowhere, and it's the middle of the night. His car has just been wrecked, driven over a cliff by the bad guy. Yet on the same night, in the cafe at the end, he offers George a ride - for that same night - to New York.

Jean G

Chinese Honeymoon - S2-E7

Short Haul - S2-E13

Continuity mistake: During the drive to Mr. Neate's house, the cars in the rear-screen projection keep changing instantly, depending on whether the camera is on Diamond, on O'Malley, or on both of them.

A Cup of Black Coffee - S2-E9

Visible crew/equipment: When the Highway Patrol car pulls away from the house, the shadows of the film crew (wearing hats), the camera and a light pole are all outlined on its big white doors.

Escape from Oak Lane - S1-E3

Revealing mistake: When Diamond and Miss Miller are driving in the country, Diamond is turning the steering wheel in wide arcs as though he's on a winding road. But the rear-screen projection footage behind them is moving in a straight line.

The Popskull - S4-E17

Revealing mistake: When Diamond is driving with Ted, his wife and their dog in his convertible, the rear-view mirror, which was there earlier, is missing. The shaky rear-screen projection makes it even more obvious that the car is a studio mock-up with the mirror removed to make the actors' faces more visible.

Fallen Star - S4-E19

Continuity mistake: Diamond takes a full cup of coffee from the vending machine and walks down the corridor with it as he talks to Mark. He takes only three brief sips from the cup before turning to leave. There are no time gaps in the scene, nor is there anywhere for him to have poured the coffee out, yet he tosses an empty cup into the trash on his way out the door.

Audio problem: When Diamond and his date are entering his apartment and he says, "You never know," his lips aren't moving with the words.

And Whose Little Baby Are You? - S4-E18

Revealing mistake: The $100 bills Diamond picks up from the table are very obviously not real. The stage money's rather frilly design pattern looks vaguely like some currency from the 19th Century, but it doesn't resemble anything in circulation in the 1950s.

Jean G

The Popskull - S4-E17

Continuity mistake: The bad guy backhands Ted, striking him across the right side of his face. Later, when Diamond questions him, Ted has bruises on the left side of his face.

The Hoodlum - S4-E1

Factual error: Diamond's car phone, quite a rarity in the 1950s, attracts a lot of attention. But the car should have a huge antenna attached to make the gadget work (it doesn't), and Diamond would not be getting direct calls - they'd have to go through a mobile operator first.
