The Getaway - S4-E12
Corrected entry: The bathtub Rita is found deceased in is a standalone without a shower door, unlike previous episodes featuring the bathroom with a shower/tub with a sliding door. In a previous episode, Rita refers to the home as a "one-bathroom" house so it's not possible this was intended to be a second bathroom.
The Big One - S5-E12
Corrected entry: When speaking with Deb about a current case, she references Brian Moser, aka Deb's ex-fiance aka Dexter's brother aka the Ice Truck Killer. Dexter calls him "Rudy" instead of Brian. (00:11:33)
The Getaway - S4-E12
Corrected entry: If we assume that Dexter took off the oil cap while it was still in the shop for Arthur, it still doesn't explain how Dexter got the jump on him when his car (hours later) broke down. Arthur's not shown to stop, but to merely drive for hours on end until night. Arthur's on a barren strip of road with no other cars or traffic to be seen for miles. It cuts from Arthur looking in his engine to Dexter suddenly walking out from behind the Mustang. The only explanation is that Dexter waited in the car with Arthur, which doesn't make very much sense. All this takes place in the last 15 minutes of the finale.
Correction: Dexter was hiding in the trunk of the car. If you look very closely when Arthur is saying "Where's my f***ing oil cap?", you can see Dexter's leg appear to the left (viewer's right) of the rear passenger side tire, in the open space under the car's body.
The trunk thing makes sense, but they could have made it more clear. I too was wondering how the heck he just appeared seemingly out of nowhere.
Remember the Monsters? - S8-E12
Corrected entry: When Elway calls the Marshall Service, the operator says "He was killed in a shooting" but when you see Oliver Saxton break free he stabs the Marshall.
Correction: That's not what the operator said. He said "Clayton was involved in a shooting. He was killed in the line of duty." There's no statement that he was killed by gunshot. Plus, it was his gun that was used to shoot Deb, and he was at the scene, so he was involved.
Other mistake: Doaks says he saw the man's gun and chased him, lots of questions arise about what happened, but no-one mentions how a cop has no right to ask a person about a gun they have on them without probable cause. Doaks has no reason to even go after the guy.
Suggested correction: Florida is not an open carry state, so if the man was displaying a gun, the cop had probable cause to pursue and question. Even if the man had a permit to carry a weapon, per Florida law, that weapon must remain concealed. If the cop could see the gun, it was a violation of the law and the cop could not only question, but arrest him.
The Big One - S5-E12
Continuity mistake: When Dex gets the phone-call from the city archives he steals a red Pontiac Grand Am GT. When he crashes it at the camp it's a badly-painted orange Chevrolet. (00:21:00 - 00:28:00)
Suggested correction: The car is a red Pontiac but it is a Grand Prix, not a Grand Am.
Continuity mistake: In the shot where Angel gives Dexter a gift from the recently deceased Maria's office, we see Masuka through the window in front of Dexter. Masuka then enters Dexter's office, showing Masuka in two places at once for at least two seconds. (00:30:55)
Suggested correction: That's not Masuka we see in the window. Not only is the person seen through the window wearing a different shirt, he's not bald like Masuka.
Character mistake: Louis Greene, Masuka's new intern, is asked to find the person who purchased Rudy's prosthetic hand. He is unable to do so; however, as a consolation, he says "I installed a modded-up Intel chip to overclock your CPU." You can overclock your CPU, but you don't need another chip to do so. (00:44:00)
Suggested correction: Only K series intel CPU's can be overclocked so a CPU upgrade is understandable if the previous one was not overclockable.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight - S3-E3
Corrected entry: When Javier Garza's body is found, Debra Morgan is wearing the "shield" that she is trying to earn. She should have been wearing a laminate like Dexter. (00:09:30 - 00:12:30)
Correction: Debra wouldn't have a laminate. Even though she hadn't earned her shield, she would still have a badge.
That Night, A Forest Grew - S2-E7
Continuity mistake: The door on his fridge keep changing. When she says "pardon my tits" it is hinged on the right, other episodes it is hinged on the left.
Suggested correction: Hinges on fridge doors can be swapped around for ease of the user.
But virtually nobody casually re-hangs their fridge doors on a whim - they set them up once and leave them. This is clearly done for the sake of visual contrivance.
Shrink Wrap - S1-E8
Factual error: In the police report Dexter examines, Emmett Meridian's name is followed by PhD, and yet he is referred to as a psychiatrist and prescribes medication. A psychiatrist would have an MD after his name, and a psychologist (PhD) cannot legally prescribe meds.
Suggested correction: It is possible for someone to be both a medical practitioner and have a PhD.
Someone with both a Doctor of Medicine and a Doctor of Philosophy would have both MD and PhD after their name. Not having an MD after your name means you can't prescribe medicine.
Yes, but in that case, both MD and PhD are listed after their name. Why would the report eliminate the MD, which is the more prestigious of the two degrees and certainly would have been noted during the investigation?
Correction: The tub that Rita was found murdered in was in the home that Dexter and Rita purchased together after their marriage. The previous home in which the sliding glass door and "one bedroom house" comment was made was Rita's former home that she lived in with her husband Paul, not the home she purchased with Dexter after they married. They are two different houses.
