Stinky Flanagan - S2-E21

Revealing mistake: Apparently, Buck getting thrown off his horse, whose name was Rebel, wasn't in the script. When it happens, a startled Cameron Mitchell shouts at the horse using its real name, Prince. Despite the blooper, the shot wasn't cut. In fact, it happens at least two more times in other episodes of the series. (00:08:00)

Stinky Flanagan - S2-E21

Deliberate mistake: At the end, the U.S. Cavalry "brand" Blue finds on the mule isn't a brand at all: it's obviously been applied with white paint to make it more visible to the camera. It's also unlikely that it would be so large, or that it would be located on the animal's neck instead of on its rump. (00:46:50)

Billy Blue Cannon: I need all the rest I can get, Uncle Buck.
Buck Cannon: When I was your age, Blue, the word 'rest' hadn't been invented.

The Buffalo Soldiers - S2-E10

Trivia: The all-black 10th Cavalry mounted troop is portrayed here by a re-creationist group that has trained itself in specialized 19th Century cavalry riding maneuvers. The group includes some descendants of the original "Buffalo Soldiers," whose nickname was coined by Native Americans that had never seen black men, and thought the soldiers' hair resembled that of the buffalo.
