Bones

The Dwarf in the Dirt - S5-E7

Character mistake: Episode 5.07, "Dwarf in the Dirt" - Over lunch with Doctor/Chef Gordon Wyatt, Angela says he'd have to dislocate his jaw like "an articulated python" in order to bite into his sandwich. The snake is actually called a reticulated python.

The Finger in the Nest - S4-E4

Character mistake: Hodgins discovers sap from a Japanese cherry tree on the bone from the nest. When the new graduate assistant suggests that it is one of the cherry trees at the Jefferson Memorial, Hodgins is skeptical of the information. In reality everyone who has lived in DC knows about the Japanese cherry trees at the memorial. They have an entire festival attributed to it every year and it practically shuts down the city with tourists. Hodgins should have known about the trees to begin with. (00:01:45)

The Recluse in the Recliner - S9-E24

Plot hole: In the beginning of the episode Booth is brought in by ambulances because he was shot. The episode flashes back and follows back through the events leading up to that. At the end of the episode he is arrested and accused of murdering 3 FBI agents who were coming "to serve warrants." In actuality Delta Operatives had tried to kill Booth. If Booth had been picked up at the scene of the battle by paramedics, the medics would have seen the dead bodies of the operatives in their gear and been able to easily prove Booth didn't just murder 3 agents. Furthermore, the medics on the scene would not just ignore the destroyed house and dead bodies. They would have called local PD and Booth would again be off the hook. (00:01:00 - 00:46:00)

The Pain in the Heart - S3-E15

Factual error: Following Sealy's funeral, in the scene at the Jeffersonian, a close up of Master Sergeant Booth's uniform, the service ribbons are displayed upside down. His bronze star is on the bottom right and it should be on the top left.

The Man in the Bear - S1-E5

Factual error: This episode was supposed to be staged outside of a small Washington State town. About midway, they cut to a mountain background scene that is Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, California, then pan to Booth and Brennan talking to the sheriff. Anyone who does not realize an iconic landmark like Half Dome is not in Washington was asleep in Geography class.

The Man in the SUV - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: When Booth and Brennan are speaking with the widow explaining that her husband was murdered. Brennan has her arms folded across her chest, when the shot changes and you see her in the mirror her arms are hanging down at her sides, then when it changes back her arms are folded again. (00:15:00)

Boobra

The Man in the Bear - S1-E5

Factual error: When Bones is doing the autopsy on the cannibal victims, she dictates her findings into a tape recorder. She refers to a 'low calibre' gun, rather than the correct 'small calibre' reference. Someone who deals with victims frequently, and who is so specific & detailed, would be well aware of the proper references for such things. (00:32:00)

The Blonde in the Game - S2-E4

Character mistake: In season 2, episode 4, when they find the girl buried under the cross, you can see her face, which means she was on her back, because her neck couldn't possibly bend that far around without it being noted by Dr. Brennan later in the episode (which it isn't). Later in the episode, however, Special Agent Booth tells Epps' wife that she was found buried face down. (00:14:15 - 00:17:30)

QueAwkwardNoises

The Man in the SUV - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: Right at the end, when Booth and Bones are having drinks at a bar, as Booth says good bye, Bones has her head resting on her propped up left arm. When Booth turns back to leave, both her arms are on the counter. (00:40:30)

The Blackout in the Blizzard - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: The scene in which Wendell and Hodgins use scotch tape to take an x-ray has the number of photographic panels on which the x-ray appears switching from four (throughout most of the scene) to five (in the close up of the x-ray appearing).

Show generally

Revealing mistake: The producers have not taken enough generic shots of the places the gang hangs out at; the Royal Diner, & the Founding Fathers. If paying attention (or, watching multiple episodes in a row), one will notice the same people wandering down the street an awful lot! As well, outside the Royal Diner, there's a weird-shaped street corner, that appears to force all traffic in front of the Diner. This would be due to the size of backlot being limited, and certainly doesn't look right.

Suggested correction: It can't be considered a mistake if the same people are seen frequently or traffic passes by the diner. The show takes place over 12 years. People will often walk past the same places.

Pilot - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: Bones asks to get out of the car during their trip from the airport. Booth's SUV parks behind a yellow school bus. When he runs after her, the bus is no where in sight. (00:03:50)

The Dwarf in the Dirt - S5-E7

Trivia: At around 5 mins 11 seconds into the episode, Vincent Nigel-Murrey and Dr. Saroyan are discussing the bones on the forensic platform. In the background of a shot of Vincent, the x-ray on the screen is of Homer Simpson's head in the middle of the screen, instead of a real human skull.

The Woman in the Car - S1-E11

Question: Pickering is interviewing the team from the Jeffersonian. When she gets to Bones, she mentions someone's name and Bones rings a phone number and Pickering is told not to move and all her notes are to be destroyed. What is Bones' relationship to the person Pickering mentioned?

Ssiscool

Chosen answer: Pickering states the name "Juan Guzman" and during the run of the show we are never told who he is, or why Brennan had been in Cuba and met with this Juan Guzman. We don't know if there is any kind of "relationship" between Brennan and Guzman. A bit frustrating, but I like how this short scene shuts down Agent Pickering's entire review, and it hints at Brennan's career history and her level of security clearance.

Super Grover

Thanks for the clarification. It's been a while since I watched the series start to finish. It also adds to show how much power Brennan actually has.

Do you remember when Bones was telling Angela about the time she was on one of her out of the country trips, and she was thrown in a dark cell for what she later found out was 3 days? She was crying and looked terrified as she remembered this. She had that same look as someone who was remembering past trauma when Pickering said this name. I kind of always thought that "Juan Guzman" was the one who did that.
