New this month Continuity mistake: In this episode a sex tape shows a fling between Brooke and Nathan, and it is supposed to be from the past, but Nathan's hair is much longer and so obviously older in the video that it looks like it could have been filmed the night before, not from when he and Peyton were together.
Character mistake: Lucas is seen placing flowers on Keith's tombstone, which states he died on January 23, 2006. In the next shot Lucas places a single flower on the grave of Jimmy Edwards, who died the same day and in the same scene as Keith, yet his tombstone states that he died on March 1, 2006.
Other mistake: In the last episode of season 1, Lucas goes to see Haley and Nathan where they tell him they got married last night, which must have been after the playoffs game. However, in season 2 in flashbacks of their wedding they got married during the day.
Plot hole: How in the world could Keith be hired as a teacher? Not only is he a college drop-out with no teacher training, Dan mentions just an episode or two earlier how Keith is incapable of using modern machinery (specifically saying how every high school graduate will be more qualified than Keith).
Deliberate mistake: After the party, in the scene where Lucas goes into the cafe, he finds Haley crying. The shot is a distant shot with Lucas and Haley in it. Haley's hands are covering her face. In the next shot, just of Haley, her one hand is over her forehead.
Plot hole: When Dan asks Lucas how he managed to lie to Karen about his heart test results then successfully move out, Lucas tells Dan that he showed Karen Keith's test results letter instead. In a prior scene, Lucas hands Karen the results letter and she is elated to read no Hypertrophy issues. Being a very savvy business woman, Karen would have noticed the addressee on the letterhead was Keith, NOT Lucas.
Continuity mistake: Firstly when they start their senior year and you see Lucas and Hayley looking at their predictions, longish hair and no beard, then it cuts to them at school and you see Lucas with a hair cut and a beard, then in the next scene, he has no beard and long hair.
Factual error: When Lucas writes an email to Karen, we can see in the "To:" box that he typed "firstname.lastname@example.org". But the email can contain only letters, numbers, periods (.), hyphens (-), and underscores (_). It can't contain special characters nor accented letters.
Continuity mistake: Nate touches a photo on the wall of a smiling late Keith, with Lucas as a small boy. Next shot, Lucas taps on the door to let Karen know the gang is taking off, but there's no response. Next shot shows Karen sitting the other side of the door, grieving, holding that same photo of Keith and Lucas.
Revealing mistake: When Dan and Lucas are racing Felix, from one scene to the next where the actors are replaced by stunt doubles. Close up, they are Paul Johansson and Chad Michael Murray, but from far away when the actual driving is happening, they are not the same people.
Other mistake: At the start of season 3 it is established by Whitey that the lockers are in alphbetical order, hence why Nathan, Haley and Lucas all have lockers next to each other, but in this episode when Haley and Rachel decorated the Scott brother's lockers, Brooke then goes to her locker and is sad when she opens it as Lucas decorated it earlier in the season. Brooke's locker however is only a few lockers away from Lucas', even though they are meant to be in alphabetical order.
Plot hole: In season 4, Haley finds out she is pregnant. It is presumably around February, since it is right after Nathan and Haley's vow renewals and after the school shooting. If she, let's say, was already a few weeks along, she would not have given birth in June at graduation, but in October of the following year, since it takes 40 weeks or 9 months for a baby to go to full term, not 5 months.
