Thunderbirds (1964)

181 mistakes

City of Fire - S1-E3

New this month Continuity mistake: When the Thompson Tower collapses, Blanche asks Joe what are they going to do and you can see she is holding a handkerchief in her right hand. But in a full view of the family a few shots later, Blanche's handkerchief is nowhere to be seen.

Attack of the Alligators - S1-E24

New this month Audio problem: When Culp is walking from his boat to the window outside the laboratory, some dialogue from Dr Orchard describing the theramine process can be heard in the background. When we are in the laboratory, Dr Orchard describes the process with the same dialogue soundtrack.

Attack of the Alligators - S1-E24

New this month Revealing mistake: When Gordon shoots the third giant alligator, you can see a bit of water jumping into the air at the very end of the shot, indicating that it was reversed footage.

Sun Probe - S1-E4

New this month Character mistake: When Brains is playing chess with Braman at the end of the episode, the positioning of the chess board is incorrect, as for both players there is a white square in the bottom left corner.

City of Fire - S1-E3

New this month Continuity mistake: When the woman crashes in the car park, the car stops with its front end atop the car next to the one it crashed into. But before the car explodes, the car can now be seen flat out on the ground.

City of Fire - S1-E3

New this month Continuity mistake: When Scott and Virgil are testing the gas and Scott passes out, he can be seen falling forward but in the next shot has actually fallen backwards.

Path of Destruction - S2-E2

Plot hole: In order to build up suspense, Virgil and Brains stand on the Crab Logger as its dangerous fuel is pumped out, despite the fact that it is hanging on the edge of a precipice. In fact they could have left as soon as they had plumbed in the pipes to empty the fuel tanks - the whole procedure is controlled by Scott in Thunderbird 1 and they make absolutely no contribution to the operation at all. They do not need to disconnect the pipes; they are left behind and dropped from Thunderbird 1 as planned. They just stand there chatting about how much danger they are in until jumping clear at the very last second. Silly buggers.

Edge of Impact - S1-E16

Continuity mistake: When The Hood drives his van off the broken bridge whilst escaping the police, watch carefully; the van bounces off the rocks on the other side and starts to fall roof-first into the river below. However, when it cuts to the van falling into the water it falls in upright.

Sun Probe - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: When Thunderbird 2 leaves the hangar on Tracy Island, it appears that Pod 3 has been selected (Pod 2 is visible to the right of Thunderbird 2), yet when Virgil and Brains arrive at Mount Arkan, the Transmitter Truck emerges from Pod 6. (The same continuity error also occurs in the episodes 'Vault Of Death', 'Move - And You're Dead', 'Martian Invasion', 'The Perils Of Penelope' and 'Day Of Disaster', probably due to the same footage being re-used for those episodes).

Operation Crash-Dive - S1-E8

Continuity mistake: While Gordon Tracey searches for the crashed Fireflash wreckage on the seabed, the parting in his hair keeps changing sides from shot to shot.

The Uninvited - S1-E5

Visible crew/equipment: When Tin-Tin responds to news of Scott's disappearance, a floor puppeteer's hand (with dirty fingernails) can be seen in the bottom of the screen lifting Tin-Tin from her seat.

Trapped in the Sky - S1-E1

Revealing mistake: When the dummy plane is shot out of the sky by the fighter pilot, a piece of the plane shoots off into the top left of the screen and bounces off the sky background.

Attack of the Alligators - S1-E24

Visible crew/equipment: A film camera and its camera operator can be seen reflected in the glass during a shot of Mrs. Files at the window of Orchard's house in the opening sequence.

Vault of Death - S1-E7

Factual error: In the Tube, Virgin and Allan are seen going from Piccadilly Circus station to Bank station using the same tunnel. These two stations are not even on the same line.

Dr Wilson

City of Fire - S1-E3

Deliberate mistake: When one of the yellow fire trucks moves away from the burning Thompson Tower, the back of the truck is set alight by the flames.

Trapped in the Sky - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: As Fireflash makes its first landing attempt onto the elevator cars, the radio control elevator car on the left can be seen to bear the number 4, even before car 3 had crashed and car 4 had left the pod.

City of Fire - S1-E3

Continuity mistake: When Scott is in the cockpit of the Mole, he has two blue tubes in the holsters of his belt. But when he is cutting through the fire doors, the tubes have changed to one blue and one yellow.

City of Fire - S1-E3

Continuity mistake: When Scott and Virgil leave the Mole on their hoverbikes, their uniform sashes are over the wrong shoulder.

Security Hazard - S1-E26

Revealing mistake: When Thunderbird 2 returns to its hangar at Tracy Island, smoke can be seen flowing back down into units inside the hangar, revealing that this is simply reversed footage of the regular Thunderbird 2 launch sequence.

Trapped in the Sky - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When the Hood is taking photographs of Thunderbird 1 at London Airport, one of the photos shows the letter "T" of Thunderbird painted on the red nose cone. All other shots of the craft show the nose cone free of markings.

Ricochet - S2-E5

Audio problem: As John and Gordon are fitting the new component on Thunderbird 5, John says, "It looks like we'll be another two hours before we're back in business. In the meantime, International Rescue is non-operational." But he is voiced by David Graham, not Ray Barrett.

Move - And You're Dead - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: When Alan contacts his father at Tracy Island, Jeff asks him "How's the situation, boy?" Alan informs him that Grandma has passed out in the heat and Alan's face is covered in sweat. But after a quick cut to Jeff saying "Passed out?" we return to Alan, and the sweat on his face has disappeared.

City of Fire - S1-E3

Other mistake: As Virgil prepares to clear the wreckage of the tower from the rescue area using the Firefly, Scott tells him that he will go over to Thunderbird 2 to prepare the Mole for tunneling. The Tower Controller then says to Scott, "I've got a fast car ready for you outside" without moving his lips.

Vault of Death - S1-E7

Audio problem: When Lovegrove realises that Lambert is still in the vault, he is talking with Carter, whose voice is initially that of Shane Rimmer but then changes to a completely different voice provided by David Graham.

City of Fire - S1-E3

Audio problem: When the Tower Controller says, "How are those fire tenders coming", it is said by Ray Barrett instead of Matt Zimmerman.

Jcamts

Martian Invasion - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: When Thunderbird 1 arrives at the danger zone, it descends with wheels on the end of the landing gear, but when Thunderbird 1 lands, it lands with skids on the end of the landing gear, and the wheels are no longer there.

Terror in New York City - S1-E13

Continuity mistake: In "The Ned Cook Show" portion of this episode, Dr. Godber is initially seen sitting in front of Bletcher with at least three rows of seats behind him, but, in another shot, he then appears two rows from the back sat in front of Jeff Tracey.

Give or Take a Million - S2-E6

Plot hole: It is supposed to be the middle of the night when Virgil sets off in Thunderbird 2 for Coralville Hospital, but the Thunderbird 2 launch takes place in full daylight.

Martian Invasion - S1-E10

Continuity mistake: In the Thunderbird 2 hangar, Virgil selects Pod 5, but when the cliff face drops down, Pod 2 is on the right of Thunderbird 2 (instead of Pod 4, which it should be).

The Mighty Atom - S1-E6

Factual error: An edition of the 'Melbourne Herald' newspaper can be seen in this episode, and appears to be dated Friday, December 24, 1964. Yet 'Thunderbirds' is supposed to be set in the 21st Century (2026 or 2065, depending on who you believe). This date is also seen on newspapers which appear in the episodes 'Edge Of Impact', 'The Impostors' and 'Cry Wolf'. Also, to compound the error, December 24th, 1964 was actually a Thursday, not a Friday.

Move - And You're Dead - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: As Alan makes his telecall to Grandma, the close-up of his hand dialing her number shows the push-button dial panel with letters on the left and numbers on the right, but on the puppet-sized telecall unit, the numbers are on the left and the letters are on the right.

Show generally

Revealing mistake: Throughout the film, whenever part of a wheeled vehicle lifts off the ground, the wheels stop moving instantly. In real life, the wheels would continue to turn at much the same rate, showing that these are unpowered models being pulled along.

The Imposters - S1-E19

Other mistake: At the end of the episode in the space rocket Scott says "you can say that again" without moving his lips.

Attack of the Alligators - S1-E24

Continuity mistake: During the after-mission chat, Alan is wearing a bandage above his left eye due to an injury he picked up on duty. If you look carefully this bandage sometimes changes between shots; it is particularly noticeable when he's in the bathroom with Tin-Tin. Also, the bandage is too small and too high up to have covered the injury adequately.

Ricochet - S2-E5

Revealing mistake: Near the end of the episode, Thunderbird 2 lands and reverses into its hangar. During this bit, if you look carefully you can see white smoke near the boiler on the far side of the hangar, only this smoke is apparently being sucked into it. This is the usual footage of Thunderbird 2 exiting the hangar played in reverse.

Pit of Peril - S1-E2

Revealing mistake: When Scott has retrieved Virgil from the Pit using The Mole, when it reverses back onto its chassis above ground, you can see dust flying upwards from the ground. It is therefore obvious that this is footage played backwards.

Attack of the Alligators - S1-E24

Continuity mistake: When the giant alligator surrounds the house and starts to attack it, the pattern of its tail in a close-up is completely different to the pattern of the alligator as seen in a long-shot.

The Mighty Atom - S1-E6

Audio problem: When the Reactor Station Guard catches The Hood taking pictures, he can already be heard blowing his whistle before he finishes saying "Hey, what are you doing?"

Move - And You're Dead - S1-E9

Continuity mistake: When we first see Virgil in the cockpit of Thunderbird 2 in the launch sequence at Tracy Island, he has nothing on his head. Later on, when we see both him and Brains, Virgil is now wearing his International Rescue hat, but when we see Virgil after the launch, the hat has gone.

Edge of Impact - S1-E16

Revealing mistake: In the shot that shows Jeff Tracy reading a newspaper, the date shown on the paper is 1964, however, the year the series is supposed to take place is in the mid to late 21st century.

The Man From M.I.5 - S1-E20

Continuity mistake: When the tied up Penelope initially attempts to contact Jeff, you can see two books to the left of the bomb standing up. But when she tries to contact Jeff from the centre of the room, the books have suddenly been knocked over. In the next shot of Penelope the books are standing up again.

Pit of Peril - S1-E2

Continuity mistake: When Brains is showing Scott and Virgil the diagram he has drawn, you can see in some shots he is holding a pencil in his right hand. But in close-ups of the diagram, he no longer has the pencil in his hand.

Sun Probe - S1-E4

Continuity mistake: When we see a shot of Thunderbird 3 in space on its way to saving the Sun Probe, the "Thunderbird" logo on its side is missing. It reappears later on in the episode.

Path of Destruction - S2-E2

Continuity mistake: When Lady Penelope is speaking to the security guard at Robotics International, she is initially standing at the far end of the table but in the next shot she is now much closer to the guard.

The Mighty Atom - S1-E6

Continuity mistake: When Professor Holden is demonstrating the Mighty Atom to the other professors, the position of the device on his hand changes between shots.

Desparate Intruder - S1-E17

Continuity mistake: When we see the Professor unconscious by the cabinet in the caravan, there is a bottle of white formula next to him that changes position between shots.

Desparate Intruder - S1-E17

Continuity mistake: When the Tracy family are sitting at the table eating their breakfast, there is a green cereal box on the table, but when Jeff says he is going back to the lounge to wait for Brains' call, the box has disappeared.

30 Minutes After Noon - S1-E18

Continuity mistake: When the stranger waves at Prescott, telling him to slow down, we cut to Prescott in his car and you can see that the car has a windscreen, but when the car stops near the stranger in the next shot, the windscreen is missing.

End of the Road - S1-E14

Continuity mistake: When the Gray and Houseman Construction Company vehicle is moving along at the beginning of the episode, the launching pad is raised, but after a quick cut to the crew, we return to the vehicle and the pad is now lowered.

Trapped in the Sky - S1-E1

Continuity mistake: When we see the Hood's Airport Police jacket, you can see that underneath "Airport Police" there is a five-pointed star, but when we see a close-up of the star in the next shot, it has changed to a six-pointed star.
