Mr. Monk Gets Fired - S3-E4

Continuity mistake: In the opening scene, the orange-and-white scarf that Paul Harley uses to blindfold Lorissa changes positions and color patterns repeatedly between shots as he escorts her from the pool to the garage.

Mr. Monk Goes to Vegas - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: As Stottlemeyer steps off the stage, after singing, he is holding the microphone and pulls it down so that the top is pointed toward the floor but in shots following this, when he is talking to the woman, the microphone is back in an upright position.

Mr. Monk and the Red Herring - S3-E10

Continuity mistake: Monk empties a pocketful of pushpins onto the science teacher's counter top. One rolls to the very edge, separate from the others. A few minutes later, the stray pin is missing. Just before Monk and Natalie leave, however, it reappears on the counter edge.

Mr. Monk Goes to Vegas - S3-E14

Continuity mistake: After Monk tells Randy to hit whilst playing Blackjack, the dealer gives him the Three of Spades. The dealer places it a bit to the right and over the Eight of Spades. The next shot we see of the cards the Three is now completely over the Eight and we can only see a bit of the bottom of the Eight.

Mr. Monk and the Employee of the Month - S3-E7

Continuity mistake: When the episode begins, the Employee Of The Month is shown walking into Mega-Mart. The exterior of the store is shown as a cement color and there is a garbage can right beside the front door of Mega-Mart. When the Employee Of The Month is shown opening up the door to the store, just seconds later, you will see the exterior of the building is now yellow and white and there is no longer a garbage can beside the door. Clearly they are using two completely different buildings. (00:00:40)

Mr. Monk Gets Cabin Fever - S3-E12

Continuity mistake: When Randy and his 'girlfriend' are having take-away (take-out) food, the girlfriend says, "Before he died, he said he's always look out for me". As she says this, her arms are resting on the table, but in the next shot her elbows are on the table and her hands are together just under her chin.

Blibbetyblip

Mr. Monk and the Panic Room - S3-E2

Factual error: The cops gain entry to the panic room to be faced with a chimp waving around a loaded handgun, apparently having shot a man, and shrug and make jokes about reading him his rights, instead of expressing the slightest concern that this animal might shoot them. Cops shoot remotely aggressive dogs all the time, but an ape with a gun doesn't even make them raise an eyebrow. Plus the police never did a gunshot residue test on the chimp. Standard procedure, and would've proven they didn't shoot.

Jon Sandys

Mr. Monk Gets Fired - S3-E4

Plot hole: In this episode the police are using the toupee of the commissioner to identify the torso as the missing woman. In reality that would not be possible since cut hair is missing the root and therefore only contains mitochondrial DNA, which can only be used to identify a human's relation via the female lineage, as it is the same in relatives and passed through generations from the mother to her children. Furthermore, the identification of said torso would likely not be sufficient proof that Mr. Harley killed her as he may claim that somebody misled him to believe she was in Paris by placing the telephone call he mentioned to police.

Prince Eitel Joe

Mr. Monk Takes Manhattan - S3-E1

Factual error: In the episode the victims were murdered with a .22 caliber firearm. However, a short shot of the crime scene focuses on an empty shell casing which comes from a larger caliber firearm, most likely a 9mm parabellum. (00:05:30)

Mr. Monk Takes His Medicine - S3-E9

Visible crew/equipment: When Monk is talking to the two patrol officers about the suicide and walks down the street, the backlot trailers and equipment are visible around the corner of the building and you can also see a set golf cart. This is supposed to be the street that the shooter and biker drove down earlier in the episode. (00:07:13)

Show generally

Question: If Monk is afraid of germs, then why does he keep touching things that could possibly have germs on them like parking meters or books?

Answer: Notice also that in the opening credits scene when he is touching parking meters her also wipes his hand on his clothes each time he does it.

Answer: That's the thing about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. It's not something rational. He just has to touch things like that. It's not something he can rationally think through. However, since part of his disorder includes an obsession with cleanliness, he also has an assistant walk around handing him wipes periodically. It's like when he gets a cold and uses both a humidifier (because that's what you use when you're congested) and a dehumidifier (to counteract the effects of the humidifier). He may spout rationalizations after he does something, but his compulsions exist outside of any rational thought whatever.
