The Return of Barney Fife - S6-E17
Continuity mistake: At the reunion you see a sign that says class of '48. In season 3 They had a reunion and it said class of '45.
Andy and the Gentleman Crook - S1-E21
Visible crew/equipment: When Aunt Bee is in the kitchen preparing to take a tray of food to the prisoner she momentarily walks out of the kitchen through the swinging door. As she pushes the door open, a crew member's hand and arm can be seen behind the door.
A Black Day for Mayberry - S4-E7
Plot hole: There is no reason for a gold truck from Denver to Fort Knox to be going through Mayberry.
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the show, Barney and Andy are sitting inside a 1964 Ford patrol car. When they are shown up close inside, you can tell it is not the likeness of the same car. The back glass windows look more like a 1960 model possibly. It is definitely not a 1964.
Other mistake: Barney's cousin is coming to Mayberry but gets off the bus in a previous town and misses it. Barney and Andy go out to find him, leaving from Mayberry. They are driving down the road when they come upon his cousin. The cousin is walking in the same direction as Andy and Barney are going, which would have meant he was walking away from Mayberry when he should have been walking towards it.
Emmett's Brother-in-Law - S8-E18
Visible crew/equipment: When Ben accompanies Emmett on his first call to Andy, just as they both enter the courthouse, we can see a crew member's hand outside reach out to catch the door as it closes. (00:12:40)
Factual error: The badges they wear don't match the badges on their patches. If there's a badge on the patch, it's supposed to match their actual badge.
Andy and the Gentleman Crook - S1-E21
Character mistake: When Barney and Gentleman Dan play gin, Barney deals only 8 cards. In gin, the proper amount would be 10.
Revealing mistake: Before Barney jumps out from behind the crate to surprise the two cops in the alley you can hear the director yell out "Don".
The Barbershop Quartet - S7-E3
Other mistake: At the end of the show Andy talks about the upcoming bowling league. Howard shows Andy his injured left thumb. This should not affect his bowling since Howard is right handed.
Other mistake: Opie accidentally drops and breaks the bottle of perfume and doesn't realise it's colored water, a bottle of perfume would smell for days.
Other mistake: In some episodes Barney can sing beautifully, but in others he can't sing at all.
Andy and Opie, Housekeepers - S1-E23
Continuity mistake: Andy is sitting on the couch, next to him on the end table is a glass and what appears to be a dark bottle like a beer bottle. They cut away, when they return to Andy on the couch the glass and the dark bottle have disappeared.
Deputy Otis - S2-E31
Other mistake: Upon arriving at the courthouse, Andy and Barney discover they don't have their keys to get in so Andy decides to go knock on the window at Otis' cell, which he does to wake Otis. However, Otis' cell does not have a window, only the adjoining cell does. (00:20:00)
Suggested correction: Otis' cell does have a window. In the previous episode with Barney's cousin, Barney's pulls the window out of the wall to get Otis out. Also in another episode Barney gets an intercom and places one part by the window to demonstrate how it would work.
It has a window but no glass. It shows Andy knocking on the window to wake Otis up but then it shows him hanging on the bars.
Character mistake: Mr Darling says there are only 5 strings on the guitar he hands to Andy. You can see all 6 strings when the camera shows Andy playing Dooley.
Character mistake: In the first scene of the show, Andy, Opie and the mayor are on a pier fishing a lake. They are casting with deep sea reels. If you've ever tried casting with a deep sea reel, it doesn't work out well. You can see there no equipment on the poles.
Character mistake: Barney claims he would be losing $3478 on the real estate deal not going through. Considering the houses only were selling for that amount or less there is no way he was making that amount of money on 5% commission.
Suggested correction: I have no idea where you got the idea the houses were being sold for less than $4K. In the beginning Barney says Andy could get $24,000 for his house and $27,500 for the Williams' house (which is also how he got the figure that Andy can get into the Williams' house for $3,500, that's not the price of the house). Those 2 houses alone are $51,500 and 5% would be $2575, and he was losing out on 2 more houses.
That has bothered me forever! I thought the house Andy was thinking of buying was 3500 not 35000! Now the amount of commission makes sense although 35000 is LOT for a house in North Carolina in the early 60's! Thank you for clearing that up.
Just watched that episode and yes, you are correct on the math. But my problem is, new houses in this era were around $8000 - $8500 new, so these older houses would have been worth nowhere near $24-$27k.
Deliberate mistake: Luke's dog in the episode is the same dog used in other episodes involving a dog in the plot.
A Black Day for Mayberry - S4-E7
Character mistake: When Opie comes in at the beginning of the episode and asks where Andy is, the exchange ends with Barney asking "Something you want to see him about?" and Opie replying "No, I'll wait," which makes no sense in context. It would have made more sense if Barney had asked "Do you want to leave him a message?"
Visible crew/equipment: At the end, when Dr. Breen tells the very tired group, "You all look as serene and relaxed as if you'd just finished listening to a pleasant band concert," in the next shot facing the porch, the shadow of the boom mic is moving around between the two windows above Clara and Andy, at the top of the screen.
