Krusty Towers/Mrs. Puff, You're Fired - S4-E9

Question: Could what happened to the Krusty Towers at the end happen to a hotel/apartment in real life?

Grandma's Kisses / Squidville - S2-E9

New this month Question: I have a two questions about "Squidville." 1. When SpongeBob and Patrick are sucking in Squidward's windows and door on his house with their leaf blowers, how are they sucking in the holes in his house? 2. How did SpongeBob and Patrick know Squidward's new 304 house house number at Squidville?

New this month Answer: The holes part is just a joke and meant to show SpongeBob doing the absurdly impossible (which is not uncommon for the show). As far as knowing his new house number; first SpongeBob calls Squidward, but there's nothing to indicate he needs to know the house number to do so. Squidward's number might not have changed or he updated his number at work. Then when SpongeBob and Patrick go to visit Squidward, they see him running in the street and don't have to know the house number. But, they could have gotten the new house number if Squidward updated his address at work, or SpongeBob is doing the absurdly impossible again.

Christmas Who? - S2-E5

Question: Santa doesn't come to Bikini Bottom, but then Squidward receives a thank you letter from him and sees him and his reindeer in the ocean's sky. Why didn't Santa come before? The one voiced by John Goodman appeared in "It's a SpongeBob Christmas" stop-motion special at the bottom of the sea talking to the characters. Can somebody clarify this for me?

Chosen answer: In the "Christmas Who?" episode's intro, Patchy the Pirate is reading a letter where a fan ask if Spongebob loves Christmas as much as he does. Patchy explains they didn't always celebrate Christmas and this episode is a flashback to the first time Bikini Bottom had heard of Christmas. Santa had never visited before because nobody had believed in him before. Santa finally does visit because of Squidward's Christmas spirit. The "It's a Spongebob Christmas" episode aired 12 years later. So by this time, Bikini Bottom had been celebrating Christmas for quite sometime. Santa comes for a special visit because of how everyone in town, except Plankton, is on his naughty list.

Question: There was supposedly one episode that ended with SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and Mr. Krabs all laughing in a boat. The laughing then silences, eventually to a stop. Then SpongeBob, Patrick, and Mr. Krabs walk out of the boat, and Squidward eventually walks out too. Which episode is this?

Chosen answer: I believe this is the Season 6 episode "Spongicus".

Question: What is the episode when Spongebob is stepping on toy ducks?

Chosen answer: "The Secret Box", or maybe "Karate Choppers".

Driven to Tears/Rule of Dumb - S4-E17

Question: In "Driven To Tears", why was SpongeBob jealous of Patrick getting his license?

Casual Person

Chosen answer: Because though he is really bad at it, SpongeBob has been giving it everything he has for years to get a license. Patrick can barely walk and remember to breathe at the same time, and gets his on the first try.

Question: I've heard the rumor for a while that the show SpongeBob Squarepants was originally made for adults. The only "proof" I've seen of this is speculation of certain episodes with supposedly "adult" jokes and the town's name being Bikini Bottom. Does anyone have legitimate proof of this being true?

Chosen answer: The show was always intended to be for kids (with the occasional joke for the grown-ups thrown in) The name Bikini Bottom follows with the theory that all of the characters in the show are able to speak because of an atomic blast, as the first atomic tests were conducted near the Bikini Islands...Bikini Bottom, meaning the bottom of the ocean at the Bikini Islands.

You Wish ('Shanghaied') / Gary Takes A Bath - S2-E11

Question: In the episode where Spongebob loses his name tag in the dumpster... He says "pourquoi!" Later, there's a scenario of a bank robber wearing his name tag who yells out what I believe is "gattica!" I was wondering what they meant and why they said it.

Chosen answer: 1) Pourquoi is the French term for "Why". SpongeBob was yelling "Why!" in French because of the situation he is in. 2) The bank robber does not say "Gattica", he says "Attica". This is a reference to the Attica Prison riot, an uprising that occurred in Attica Correctional Facility in Attica, New York between September 9-13, 1971. This was done as a way exaggerating how SpongeBob was worrying about the consequences of not passing the inspection.

Question: In the movie, Mr. Krabs opens "The Krusty Krab 2" and looks like it's succeeding. But the episodes premiered after the movie came out don't show the restaurant. Did it go out of business?

Chosen answer: SpongeBob creator Stephen Hillenburg said that the movie is set after all episodes of the TV series, even the ones that were made after the film was released, so Krusty Krab 2 hasn't opened in the TV show timeline.

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: In the episode "Band Geeks", the band sings a song at the end of the episode. What is this song is called?

Chosen answer: "Sweet Victory"

You Wish ('Shanghaied') / Gary Takes A Bath - S2-E11

Question: On "Shanghaied", I have seen this episode on TV with three different endings. The first one is the common one, where Spongebob wishes the Dutchman was a vegetarian. The second one is shown less, where Patrick gets the third wish. (He wishes for gum). The third, and least common, ending I have seen, Squidward gets the final wish (he wishes he never met Spongebob and Patrick, and then Spongebob says, "I don't believe we've ever met.") Is there a DVD where I can find the alternate endings?

Chosen answer: Well, I've never heard about those other endings before, but I'm pretty sure the only DVD you can find the episode on (correct me if I'm wrong) is the Season Two boxset. I have seen the episode on this DVD before, and it only has the the common ending which you described. So I would say no.

Question: At the end of the episode with the Hash-Slinging Slasher, what do Spongebob, Squidward, and the Hash Slinging Slasher say to the vampire that was turning the lights on and off?

Chosen answer: They say Nosferatu. That's the name of the vampire that was turning the lights off. He appeared in the 1922 movie of the same name.

Question: In "Spongebob vs. the Big One", at one point, the Flying Dutchman is in Davey Jones' Locker. While there, an old man comes out (not animated, a real person), he says something to the Flying Dutchman, then "Daydream Believer" by the Monkees starts playing. Is he supposed to be one of the Monkees or something?

Chosen answer: He is indeed--he was lead singer of the Monkees and his name (of course!) is Davy Jones.

The Bully / Just One Bite - S2-E17

Question: In 'Just One Bite', I remember there used to be a scene after Squidwad's dream and before him blowing up. He used to walk into the Krusty Krab, only to have a bucket of gas fall on him and a robot arm coming out and lighting Squidward on fire. Nowadays, I can't find that scene anywhere. What happened to it?

Chosen answer: Nick has never given an official reason, though fans speculate it was removed because 1) it may give kids the idea to set fire to gasoline with matches, and 2) it was considered reminiscent of the 11 September attacks on the World Trade Centre.

Valentine's Day / The Paper - S1-E16

Question: How come they never air this episode on TV anymore?

logan crews

Chosen answer: You need to provide a little bit more information to be able to answer a question like this. In what region is it not being shown? I see it being replayed here in Australia fairly frequently. As for a general reason, there does not appear to be any for why it specifically might have been taken off the air in any country or region. Like any show certain episodes can sometimes not be replayed for long periods for unknown reasons.

Wormy / Patty Hype - S2-E7

Question: In "Wormy", what was the name of the friendship song in the scene with Spongebob Patrick and Wormy?

Chosen answer: It's called "That's what friends do" on the Spongebob Yellow album, track 19.

Question: In "I'm With Stupid", can someone explain to me who those people were who thought they were Patrick's parents, and how they knew to show up, and knew everything about Patrick?

Chosen answer: I had originally posted this as a mistake before being corrected. My own opinion aside, there is no real evidence to how they knew about Patrick. Its all I think meant to add to the stupidity of starfish in the show. Not only do the fake parents not even have kids but Patrick didn't even realise they were not his parents until they mentioned their names.

The Snowball Effect / One Krabs Trash - S3-E3

Question: In "One Krab's Trash", near the end Mr. Krab's tries to scare off the hat by using a ghost of a man's name he made up (Smitty Werben Jaegerman Jense.) At first, he pronounces Jaegerman as yay-grr, then just a few seconds later, starts pronouncing it as jayger. Is there a reason for this?

Chosen answer: Mr. Krabs is making up a name on the spot...he wants Spongebob to think that the hat belongs to someone else, so he's just saying a random nonsense name. It's very probable that he could mess up parts of this name, since it's very long and complex.

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: In Secret Box, throughout the whole episode he opens the box and looks at the picture at the 'Christmas party', how is this possible if he has to pull a string and he never does?

Jeffrey Depoalo

Chosen answer: Simple, he kept the photo in the box but not in the secret compartment. We never see the photo and we never know when it was in the secret compartment so it's possible he was looking at it and moved it when he was about to show Spongebob. Even if he wasn't looking at it, Patrick might have just been looking at the string and laughing or even just thinking about the picture. Patrick and Spongebob do in many instances laugh at the simplest things.

Question: What episode was it where Squidward was trying to enter the Krusty Krab and a bucket full of fuel (and a match) kept falling down?

Chosen answer: While I have not seen this bit, I believe this bit is from the episode "Just One Bite". Squidward smells some gas and a giant mechanical hand comes down with a match burning the Krusty Krab. Apparently many versions of this episode have had this scene edited for certain reasons.

Question: In some episodes, they talk about some David Jones. Can anyone tell me who is he?

Nature Pants / Opposite Day - S1-E9

Question: In "Opposite day", SpongeBob and Patrick starts talking, but nothing is understood. I think they're talking backwards. What are they saying?

Chosen answer: They are talking backwards, here is what they say: (*both laugh*) Spongebob: To get to the OPPOSITE side! - Patrick: I give up! -Spongebob: Hey, Patrick!

The Secret Box / Band Geeks - S2-E14

Question: Someone wrote that the song Spongebob sings at the end is part of a real song, "Wings of the Wind." But when searching for this songs' lyrics at Google, they don't include the lines Spongebob sings. On other websites, the song is identified as "Sweet Victory" and the singer was David Glen Eisley. Could someone please clarify this?

Chosen answer: The song was Sweet Vitory by David Glen Eisley. Not Wings of the Wind. Wings of the Wind might have been a remake that didn't include the part you were talking about.

The Bully / Just One Bite - S2-E17

Question: In the episode "The Bully" why can't Flats beat up Spongebob? Spongebob's spongeness has never saved him from injury before or after this episode.

Mark English

Chosen answer: As Spongebob explained in the certain episodes he has no bones so the force of the flats punches have no effect. To be more technical there is nothing solid that Flats can punch into and hence why it has no effect. Spongebob has never really been injured and there really isn't any incidents I can recall that his "spongeness" ever came into question of being hurt or injured.

Grandma's Kisses / Squidville - S2-E9

Question: If all the other residents had an exact personality like Squidward, how come they never got bored after all the time in Tentacle Acres?

Chosen answer: Squidward only got bored because he likes SpongeBob and his antics more than he cares to admit. Seeing the way SpongeBob acts makes him realize just how boring Tentacle Acres really is.

Question: In regards to two of the characters, Plankton and Sandy Cheeks. I have seen all the episodes but cannot figure out a few things on them. Sandy - Can someone tell me why Sandy lives under the ocean? I know she is very smart and is a keen scientist but what exactly made her move to the bottom of the sea? She seems to miss Texas a lot and it seems strange she decided to move to the bottom of the ocean. I know it's a cartoon but what's her motive? Plankton - I understand Plankton is always trying to steal the Krabby patty secret formula but has there been a reason exactly for stealing it? Was it to try and run Krabs out of business or use it for his own restaurant?

Lummie

Chosen answer: Plankton has his own restaurant that is a flop. He wants the secret formula so he can be successful and beat Mr. Krabs in business. No reasons have been given for why Sandy moved underwater. Though she is an extreme daredevil personality, so maybe she did it to be different.

Jellyfish Hunters / The Fry Cook Games - S2-E16

Question: In "Jellyfish Hunters", when Mr. Krabs keeps saying "More" to Spongebob to get more jellyfish, there are several pictures of Mr. Krabs saying this. There is one quite disturbing picture of what looks like a mutated and rotten Mr. Krabs. Can anyone please explain what it's supposed to mean, or is it just some random joke?

Chosen answer: More likely a random joke. Commonly in Spongebob they use awful looking pictures of the characters as a joke usually about their appearance. In one episode Mr Krabs talks about how Squidward and Spongebob are some of the finest crew mates he's ever had and then you see them looking horribly dressed, with almost mutated faces and nothing close to impressive as Krabs states. The entire show is primarily made up of visual jokes like these.

No Free Rides / I'm Your Biggest Fanatic - S2-E10

Question: Can anyone read Spongebob's license in "No Free Rides"? Is his DOB 7/14/76 or 7/14/86?

Chosen answer: The logical date of birth for Sponegebob would be 7/14/76. This is because in the episode where Spongebob takes Pearl to her senior prom, he says to Gary that he couldn't even get a date to his own prom. Spongebob is 28, not 18.

Emily

The Great Snail Race / Mid-Life Crustacean - S3-E15

Question: In "The Great Snail Race," I never understood what made Sandy feel like kicking Spongebob's butt.

Chosen answer: He says something about her earlier that was insulting even though she wasn't there. She says something along the lines of "having a feeling she should kick his butt". Later she shows up to kick his butt, though we don't find out how she knows for sure. It's a joke based on the "feeling" you get sometimes when you know someone is thinking/talking about you.
