The Golden Girls

Miles to Go - S6-E15

Continuity mistake: In this episode Rose's boyfriend Miles is revealed to be in the witness protection program and has not had any contact with people from his past including family. However, in season 5, episode 15 his daughter visited and didn't approve of Rose.

There Goes the Bride (1) - S6-E16

Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode, Rose says that Miles is in Europe with some students. The episode immediately before this one, however, revealed Miles being put back into a witness protection program, and leaving Rose.

High Anxiety - S4-E20

Continuity mistake: In this episode Rose says her cat Fluffy died (as a lie) and Dorothy says "Rose, you've never had a cat, you're allergic." When Blanche and Rose first meet she is holding a cat named Mr. Peepers, and looking for a place she and the cat can live. Another episode she says she had a cat named Lindstrom Lindstrom.

Suggested correction: After first meeting Blanche at the supermarket, Rose gave Mr. Peepers to a boy there. Dorothy could actually mean that Rose has never owned a cat for as long as Dorothy has known her. Regarding the allergies, people can be allergic to some cats, but not others. Or they will choose to live with a cat despite the allergies.

In another episode, Rose mentions her dog Rusty saved the family cat from a fire so she definitely lived with a cat for longer.

In a Bed of Rose's - S1-E15

Continuity mistake: In this episode, Blanche was talking about how she learned of her late husband, George's, death. She said she got the phone call late at night and the officer on the phone (chewing potato chips), told her that her husband was killed instantly in a accident. But in another episode, Sophia made a comment about how Blanche was getting a pedicure while her husband was dying in the hospital. Blanche admitted to this, so it was not one of Sophia's smart remarks.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: It is known that Dorothy married Stan because she was pregnant and they were married for 38 years. However Michael is not 38 - his age is stated as either 23 or 30 in different episodes, a mistake in itself - and in the 2 episodes her daughter is in, she doesn't look to be anywhere near 38 either.

A Piece of Cake - S2-E25

Continuity mistake: Towards the end, when Sofia's cake is done, she takes it out of the hot oven using potholders. Less than a minute later, when the men start to conga, you can see her discard the potholders and pick it up with her bare hands. It is a glass pan and still would have been much too hot to hold.

Hey, Look Me Over - S7-E1

Continuity mistake: In earlier episodes we are told Blanche's middle name is "Marie", such as in the episode, "Wham, Bam, Thank You, Mammy" where in her ex-mammy calls her by her full maiden name (Blanche Marie Hollingsworth). But in this episode, she brings out her diaries to try to locate if she slept with Rose's husband Charlie, and the intials are B.E.D. - which stood for Blanche Elizabeth Devereaux.

Continuity mistake: In one episode, Rose talks about being valedictorian of her high school class in St. Olaf. In another episode, Rose goes to night school (where Dorothy is her teacher) in order to get her GED because she never graduated from high school. While talking to rose about the class Dorothy states the class is for people who didn't get a diploma. Additionally, in the episode "Whose face is this, anyway" Rose mentions that she was in a sorority called the "Alpha Yams"; when the girls look at her strangely, Rose states "It was an agricultural college." She could not have gone to college without a high school diploma.

My Brother, My Father - S3-E17

Continuity mistake: About three minutes into the show Dorothy, Sophia and Stan are in the living room. Sophia is trying to convince them to pretend they are still married while uncle Angelo is visiting. Dorothy is wearing a large pair of earrings, but at one point during their discussion when they show a close up of her, the left earring is suddenly missing. A second close up shows the earring still missing, but as Dorothy turns her back to the camera, she reaches up and touches the remaining earring. In her next close up, she is wearing both earrings again.

Clinton Avenue Memoirs - S5-E16

Continuity mistake: The front door of Sophia's former apartment is on the right wall, under the stairs. The fireplace is on the far back wall to the left, next to the foot of the stairs. But in the earlier episode, "A Piece of Cake", the front door is next to the stairs, there is no fireplace, and Sophia's bedroom door is where the front door is in "Clinton Avenue Memoirs".

Bringing Up Baby - S3-E3

Continuity mistake: In this episode Blanche says she has had 4 children, but she has never owned a Mercedes. She offers one of her three sons (named Biff, Doug and Skippy) to Dorothy in order to let her keep the car. In other episodes she mentions daughters Rebecca and Janet frequently, and in the "To Catch a Neighbor" episode she mentions a son, Matthew, who is a CPA. That's at least six children by my count.

Season 1 generally

Continuity mistake: In the pilot, Blanche's bedroom is to the back left, not down the hall. From the series' second episode on, the lanai was out of the back left door and all the bedrooms are down the hallway.

Wham, Bam, Thank You, Mammy - S6-E5

Continuity mistake: When Mammy Watkins first hands the letters over to Blanche, the ribbons holding them together are knotted but the knot is on the bottom of the pile, and the strands are quite long. When Blanche reaches for them, the knot is on the top, it is now tied in a bow, and the strands are much shorter and neater.

All That Jazz - S5-E10

Continuity mistake: In this episode, Dorothy's son, Michael, is said to be thirty years old. When he married his wife in the season 3 episode "Mixed Blessings", he was said to be 23.

My Brother, My Father - S3-E17

Continuity mistake: Angelo claims he promised their mother on her deathbed that he would become a priest, and Sophia says she promised she would marry someone else - and we assume she died before Sophia or Angelo got married to their spouses. However, in the episode where they are flashing back for Mother's Day, Sophia's mother is in this episode along with Sal (and she looks like an older version of Dorothy).

One Flew Out of the Cuckoo's Nest (2) - S7-E26

Continuity mistake: When Sophia goes around taking pictures of Dorothy and Lukas kissing, she accidentally takes a picture of Rose and Blanche hugging. When she takes the picture, they are still hugging and see her afterwards. When the picture develops, they are both staring at the camera with shocked looks, but the picture was already out when they turned around.

Empty Nests - S2-E26

Continuity mistake: When Dorothy snaps at Oliver, she mentions him "throwing up in the pool" at a new year's party at Blanche's house. There is no pool on the girls' property (which is Blanche's house, and they've always all lived there); it is never seen or mentioned outside of this episode.

Show generally

Continuity mistake: In series 3 Dorothy's son Michael, who is engaged to a woman 21 years older than he, is supposed to be 23. In Series 2, when Michael sleeps with Rose's daughter, Dorothy mentions that he is 29 years old.

Miles to Go - S6-E15

Continuity mistake: In this episode Rose's boyfriend Miles is revealed to be in the witness protection program and has not had any contact with people from his past including family. However, in season 5, episode 15 his daughter visited and didn't approve of Rose.
