Tortured - S4-E16

Corrected entry: Alex misbehaves in court when the expert's explaining brain injuries. Surely no D.A or A.D.A would act like a smart alec saying "Thank you doctor, what it lacks in facts it makes up for it in pretty colors." or whatever nonsense she spewed. The judge doesn't even correct her.

Correction: Attorneys on both sides make smart ass comments all the time, on the show and in real life. She's basically just mocking the doctor as making things up.

Well one representing the state should be above that behavior. It's like the old expression if someone else jumped off a bridge would you? I think that's how it goes.

Rob245

"Should" isn't a mistake though. People act like that all the time.

Head - S5-E25

Corrected entry: Stabler slams a female suspect into the barred window which leads to her having a potentially life ending seizure. If he's had problems like this before, it's been mentioned, then this should've gotten him suspended or fired.

Correction: Plenty of cops have done worse and kept their jobs.

Paternity - S9-E9

Other mistake: An ambulance, when Kathy Stabler gives birth to the baby, Olivia says the baby's a girl. In the hospital, when Elliot gets to Kathy's table's room, she tells him the baby's a boy.

Suggested correction: Olivia never says the baby's a girl. Rewatch, please. In the ambulance, when Kathy is in the midst of the last few pushes to get the baby out, Olivia is watching the delivery over Kathy's shoulder, being supportive. With Kathy's last push, Olivia repeats, "Good girl, good girl," which is directed at Kathy to encourage her during her delivery (timecode 00:39:20). Then, when the baby is out, Olivia excitedly exclaims, "It's a boy!"

Visible crew/equipment: While Benson and Stabler apprehend their suspect in a church, at least one crew member appears on the right side of the frame for about 5 seconds where no one should be. (00:25:45)

Elliot Stabler: Just so you know, everybody loses it their first kid case.
Dani Beck: I'll get used to it.
Elliot Stabler: Well... When that happens, transfer out.

Trivia: As the detectives are trying to find out from Doug Hutchinson's character where the victim is being held, the detectives find out he is somewhat claustrophobic. They decide to scare him and put him in a cupboard without any light. This is very similar to Doug Hutchinson's character in The Green Mile. The main characters decide to punish him and force him into a dark and small room.

Show generally

Question: Why does Oliver Gates come up with ridiculous reasons for the people he defends whenever they commit murder? In the episode "Hate", Sean Webster was killing Muslims and Oliver claims that his hatred was genetic but, it was found out that Sean had been raised to hate Muslims after his dad left his mom and married a muslim. In the episode "Game" a guy is murdering people the exact same way that's done in a video game when it's clear the suspect is using the video game as a scapegoat for his crimes.

Answer: His clients are guilty and won't take a plea. He's using desperate defenses in hopes of swaying a juror or two. Also makes for better television. "Temporary insanity" isn't nearly as compelling as "the video games made me do it."
