Continuity mistake: When Lorelai and Luke are in Luke's Diner to choose the color for the walls, Luke turns around the 'closed'-sign on the door. In this shot you can see that the venetian blind at the door is quite messed-up; partly closed, partly opened. In the following shot, where all the people are standing outside Luke's Diner looking trough the windows, the venetian blind is orderly and completely opened.
Other mistake: When Rory returns from being stranded overnight in Hartford, she comes up the walk and meets Lorelei on the porch. Although it's snowing significantly in the background, there is not a single flake of snow on Rory's hair, jacket, or backpack, and her hair is completely dry.
Continuity mistake: In the first scene when Dean brings pizza and they are discussing about Donna Reed: In one shot Lorelai is opening the pizza box and she and Rory take a piece and start eating while they are talking. In the following shot, the piece of pizza in Lorelai's hand is gone and Rory takes a piece from the box - you can see that the pizza is complete again.
Continuity mistake: Lorelai and Sookie take some containers out of the car and head towards Emily and Richard's door. When you see the next shot of them at the door, the containers Sookie is carrying are different from the ones she took out of the car, without her rearranging them.
Continuity mistake: After Rory is walking with Dean, it goes to a shot of Rory and Lorelai eating at Luke's Diner from outside. Rory is wearing a light blue sweater and Lorelai has a black shirt on. Then it goes inside the diner and Rory is wearing a dark bluish/grey sweater and Lorelai is wearing a purple shirt. The first shot is used from the very last scene of the episode.
Other mistake: Rory asks Emily for baby pictures of Lorelai, but Emily says Lorelai burned them all because she had such a big head when she was little. But in "Love and War and Snow" earlier in the season, Emily, Richard and Rory looked at a baby picture of Lorelai in a bunch of petticoats the night Rory stayed over with her grandparents during a snowstorm.
Continuity mistake: Dean calls Rory, and towards the end of the conversation mentions getting his first cell phone. This is false. He's had a cell phone the whole series. Paris even calls it in the season 2 episode "Can't Get Started" when Rory and Dean are at Sookie's wedding.
Factual error: Lane wants Rory to talk to Dean about setting up Lane with his friend Todd. While asking Rory to do this, Lane asks for the date to be planned for the following Sunday, after church; however, Lane is Seventh-day Adventist and they believe the Sabbath is Saturday and therefore attend church on Saturday, not Sunday.
Continuity mistake: When Rory comes into the room to answer the phone and sees Paris avoiding the call because it's her boyfriend Jamie, she empties the contents of her school bag onto the desk, including her mobile phone. Then later in the scene when Rory suggests Paris use her mobile phone to call Jamie, she pulls it out of her bag again, despite having left it on the table all but half a minute earlier.
Continuity mistake: Luke uses a red screwdriver trying to get something out of the toaster and leaves the screwdriver in the toaster while he goes to get coffee. When it cuts back to Lorelai, the screwdriver is on the counter, beside the toaster.
Other mistake: Season 6, 9/20/05, "Fight Face"While in Luke's Diner, Luke hands Lorelei a cup of coffee in a 'to go' cup. When Luke puts the coffee in front of Lorelei, the cup makes a hollow sound when it hits the counter, obviously indicating that there's no actual coffee in the cup.
Continuity mistake: When Lane delivers lunch from Luke's to Rory in the bookstore, the couple seen outside (man in black jacket and woman in white coat) are seen approaching and picking up a magazine not once but four times. They re-approach and pick up the magazine in each camera shot of Lane.
Visible crew/equipment: When Rory is finally going back to Yale, in the scene where she and Lorelai are standing by the car debating who Paul Anka likes better, Rory gets in the car to drive away, but in the next shot of the car actually driving away, you can see what is a man's arm driving the car.
Continuity mistake: Rory and Lorelai are talking on cell phones and Rory has her hands full with her pencil and her cell phone and every time they cut back to her her hair has been moved around. It goes from being behind her shoulder to in front of her shoulder, then completely behind her neck without her touching it.
Continuity mistake: When Rory and Lorelai are testing cakes for the wedding at Fran's bakery, Rory is seen taking pieces out of the raspberry cake several times. However when the angle changes you can see that the cake is whole as if none of it had been eaten.
Plot hole: In the episode when Jess arrives at Luke's, Luke explains to Lorelai that Jess' father walked out on his family two years ago. Jess is 17 at that point, which would make him 15 when his father left. In the episode where the father comes to see him, Luke asks him why he left when Jess was just a baby in diapers, and indicates that he hasn't seen him since.
Continuity mistake: This was in season six in the Martha's vineyard episode (Valentine's day). Lorelai comes into the kitchen and we see a shot of Rory cooking. Next to her is the orange juicer. In the next shot, it is not there. It reappears as Lorelai is watching Rory cook and Rory reaches into a drawer and pulls it out.
Character mistake: Season 5, Episode 3 - "Written in the Stars": This mistake happens in the town meeting scene. They are talking about the two business owners that dated, then moved when it ended badly. It hurt the town's economy. First it was said that Faye sold flowers and the guy sold candy. Then they said that Faye sold candy.
Continuity mistake: The Gilmore Mansion is different than in later episodes. The entrance way has steps to go up to the front door landing. In future episodes, the front entrance and driving area are very different. No steps to the front door and the parking area in front keeps changing, adding bushes and a fountain type sculpture.

Factual error: The morning after Dean and Rory fall asleep at Miss Patty's, when Patty wakes them up, she tells them it's five-thirty in the morning. When Rory runs out into the street, there is snow on the ground and the sun in up. In Connecticut, there is no time of year in which there would be both snow on the ground and sunlight at 5:30 a.m. (It's not streetlights either-in other episodes that take place at night in the town square, the streetlights do not light up the entire square-they are some distance apart, and their light is concentrated around the poles).
Continuity mistake: When Lane spins the Doggy Swami wheel, the number 5 is at the top, and Lorelai removes the piece of paper under it. When it changes to the close up shot, the wheel now has the number 20 at the top with the piece of paper under it drawn.
Character mistake: On the first day of Rory's internship, she is told she needs to get an ID, to which she replies she never had an ID before, but she got an ID during her first day at Yale, which she and friends later pretended to lose to get new ones.
Continuity mistake: When Emily, Lorelai and Richard are going to take the picture, Richard lifts his arm as if he is going to put it around Lorelai's shoulder. The angle changes and his hand is no longer raised. He then raises it again before finally lowering it.
Factual error: When Lorelai arrives at the hospital, Rory says she is xeroxing a report that she needs to fax for Sherry because Sherry didn't make enough copies. No matter how many people the report needed to be faxed to, only one original copy would be needed.
Other mistake: When Rory and Lane get caught at the movies, Lorelei said she will not lie to Mrs. Kim because she has to respect that Mrs. Kim doesn't want Lane to do something. In reality, Lane is allowed to do things Mrs. Kim would not approve of all the time i.e. Listening to ungodly music, eating pizza, wearing different clothes.

Character mistake: In this episode, Rory tells Lorelai that she was cleaning her computer's hard drive because it was full of unopened downloaded files which were consuming her CPU speed. This is wrong, the situation which she's explaining would not use up any extra CPU speed - she may be trying to say her hard drive was extremely fragmented which MIGHT consume some CPU speed (but a tiny amount).
Continuity mistake: At the beginning of the episode, Lorelai can't get in the front door because Luke has installed a chain lock. Near the end of the episode, when Rory returns home and Lorelai rushes out the front door, there is no chain lock present on the door.
Visible crew/equipment: While Lorelai and Luke are in the diner's storeroom, just as Lorelai makes a comment about not knowing what's going on in Rachel's head because she's not a Vulcan, the boom mic dips into view over Lorelai's head, at the top of the screen.
Revealing mistake: Rory and Lorelei stop looking for a place to carve their initials on the Chilton steps because they hear someone coming. A man walks by and his footsteps stop so they continue, but when the screen goes back to Lorelei you can see the man hiding in the plant behind her on the right.
Continuity mistake: In this episode, when Logan goes to see Lorelai to ask her permission to propose to Rory, Lorelai asks Logan if he wants any french fries. They sit down and the to-go container is open, when the camera zooms in and then back out it's closed again.
