Vint and the Kids Move In - S1-E1
Continuity mistake: When Vint moves in, he stays in the basement. Mama, Fran, and Buzz all have a "bedroom." Sonya moves into Fran's studio. Then when Naomi thinks she's pregnant, they argue over where Vint and Naomi will move to instead of the basement. Fran says she won't give up her room, Buzz says his room is in the attic. Sonya says her room is microscopic. Thelma has the biggest room. Then on Mama's Birthday, she gets Buzz to help clean out of the attic, which obviously wasn't his room as he stated. Then, of course, after Buzz, Sonya, and Fran are all gone there's only room for Thelma and Bubba upstairs.
Continuity mistake: In the first two seasons, there are 3 bedrooms upstairs: Mama's, Fran's, and Sonja's. But after Buzz and Sonja move out and Aunt Fran dies, Bubba moves in and takes Aunt Fran's room. Vinton and Naomi are still in the basement complaining that they wanted Fran's room. However, originally there was another room upstairs, Sonja's room, that disappeared.
Suggested correction: Wouldn't there have been 4 bedrooms upstairs not 3? Mama's, Frans, Sonja's as mentioned but then also Buzz had a room making it 4 bedrooms upstairs.
Buzz lived in the attic.
Revealing mistake: When Iola's quilt shrinks in the dryer at the end of the episode, the individual squares do not shrink. Instead, there are simply fewer of them in each direction.
April Fools - S5-E18
Plot hole: As Mama tells Iola about the April Fools' jokes the family has played on her over the years, Iola expresses surprise. Considering Iola has been Mama's friend for years and is constantly at the Harper house, it seems impossible that Iola had never heard of any of the April Fools' pranks.
Plot hole: Vinton demonstrates the intercom with the instruction to push a button to talk but throughout the episode, they listen in on each other. This would not be possible if the person (s) being listening on is not holding the button to activate the mike.
Birthright - S3-E18
Continuity mistake: In this episode Vint says he was born on April 23. But in the lottery episode when Mama picks numbers with Iola she says Vint was born in March.
Child's Play - S4-E8
Continuity mistake: When Eugene is playing with the ball on a stick it changes from being predominately purple to blue and red just before he pulls the string off. The cup size changes too. (00:11:05)
Visible crew/equipment: Vinton enters the living room from the kitchen, and just before the swinging door closes completely, a bearded man can be seen entering the kitchen from the back door. (00:10:55)
An Ill Wind - S3-E8
Revealing mistake: After they break out of the basement, Iola remains down there, with no indication that she is coming up. However right after we can see her skirt on the staircase, waiting to make her entrance later in the scene.
Revealing mistake: When Thelma sees that a strange woman is in the grave intended for her, she smacks Carl's headstone with her purse. The headstone can be seen to move slightly under the blow.
Continuity mistake: Before this episode, Vint and Naomi were married already and in this episode they are not. They are not even a couple.
Suggested correction: A similar mistake like this was already corrected. The episodes were aired out of order, so there is no continuity mistake on part of the show. "Alien Marriage" was the 2nd episode produced. The show started with the 4th episode produced and season 1 ends with the 1st episode produced. Many refer to these types of episodes as flashback episodes.
Gift Horse - S4-E5
Continuity mistake: After Iola gives Mama the tissue box, Mama goes inside and drops the tissue box and the tissue paper on the coffee table. The positions of both these things (and another knick-knack that was already on the table) change between shots.
Grandma USA - S3-E12
Plot hole: Thelma never mentions the song name she will sing at the pageant, as she had no idea she needed a talent, thus she couldn't tell them ahead of time, but they still start to play the right one for her.
Pinup Mama - S6-E17
Revealing mistake: Vint supposedly hits his thumb with the hammer, but it is clear that he hits a part of the wood nowhere near his thumb.
Revealing mistake: When Naomi's dress gets caught, it's making a noise as though the machine is eating the dress but the dress isn't even moving and the needle isn't moving up or down. (00:17:10)
Visible crew/equipment: When Iola is walking across the stage to her podium for the debate, from her perspective you can see the edge of the set and some lights.
