Continuity mistake: The right handle plate on Homer's gun is fastened with two screws throughout the entire episode. But in the scene where he promises Marge to get rid of the gun and they hug in the kitchen, the gun is seen lying on the table with only one screw in the handle.
Continuity mistake: When Bart is standing on the bench, Jimbo and Milhouse are standing in the front row, on the right side of the screen. But when there's the closeup (a second later), there are children shown in front of Jimbo and Milhouse and the girl with the purple hair is gone.
Continuity mistake: In the end of the episode when the family has reclaimed the house and are cleaning up the living room. As Homer mentions about letting the Cooders stay, Bart tells Marge to get him away from the window. She is standing right next to the couch in the lounge but the very next shot she lowers her hands and pats the couch yet is now in the family room. (Note: There was a few shots that showed there was two couches so the mistake is with Marge suddenly moving not the couch.).
Continuity mistake: At dinner when the carny dad is doing his cigarette trick, the shot changes to Bart and Lisa and they have piles of food on their plates. About 10 seconds later Marge gathers the plates up and there is nothing on them. Are we to believe that they ate all this food in such a short space of time?

Continuity mistake: In the Wiggum's house the parent's bedroom changes style several times. When it is first seen the cupboard is opposite the door (When Chief Wiggum is looking into the room after climbing the stairs). Continuity mistake: In the episode 'Lisa's Sax' (season 9, ep. 3), King Toot's music store is across the street from Moe's Tavern. However, in numerous later episodes, there are stills of Moe's Tavern that show King Toot's music store next door, not across the street as in the aforementioned episode.
Continuity mistake: When Ray Patterson's / Homer's office is shown, the text on the door is different according to the different shots. When the shot is on the door, the writing on the window (Name and Sanitation Commissioner) is close together, but when the shot is from inside the office with the door open, the writing is apart.
Continuity mistake: When Lisa comes down the stairs prior to watching "When Buildings Collapse", the TV screen is near enough in the corner of the living room and can be seen from the stairs. When Lisa enters the living room, the TV has moved further into the room. Subsequent shots of the TV move it so far into the room that it would not have been possible to see it from the stairs at all in the first place.
