Continuity mistake: Another flashback mistake: When Homer remembers finding out that Marge was pregnant with Bart, he screams, tears out his hair and runs upstairs, past a picture of Lisa in the pink hat she wears to church. This mistake re-occurs seconds later when Homer remembers finding out Marge was pregnant with Lisa. Hard to have photos of Lisa on the wall before Bart and Lisa were even born...
Continuity mistake: In "Time and Punishment", when Homer returns to the basement after his first time travel, there is a scorch mark on the work bench where the toaster was placed when he turned it on. The angle changes to a shot from the stairs, and the scorch mark is gone. Later in the episode, the mark is back on the bench.
Continuity mistake: Bart comments on Homer's extreme reaction when he realised Marge was pregnant with Maggie. In the next flashbacks, when Homer reacts in the same way to hearing about Bart and Lisa, they are shown in the house at Evergreen Terrace both times. In Series 4, in the episode Lisa's First Word, they show that the Simpsons did not move to Evergreen Terrace until just before Lisa was born. Other episodes have also shown that Homer was with Marge at Doctor Hibbert's when she found out about her other pregnancies.

Continuity mistake: Homer's two hairs over his head are dishevelled when the family arrive at Itchy and Scratchy land due to whatever has happened on the detour - however, it suddenly changes to being like he normally has it in the last frame that shows the family in the car, before the car park is shown.

Continuity mistake: When the Stonecutters are singing "We do", the position of several characters, particularly Number 51 and Chief Wiggum, change randomly as the camera angles change. Number 51 starts at the end of the table on the right side, with Chief Wiggum two seats to the left of him. In later shots, Number 51, then Wiggum are both switched to the same position, midway up the left side. Then, when the song ends, Wiggum has disappeared, and Number 51 remains in this new position.

Also the door to the police station changes from brown to blue to clear glass and back to blue during the scene.

The door is also hinged on the wrong side.

Continuity mistake: When Bart is first introduced to the Superfriends, Ham moves around the table a bit. First he is seen sitting next to the kid with dark, curly hair, and you can see a plate in between him and Bart's plate, indicating that someone else is sitting there. This someone turns out to be Lisa, who after she is introduced, switches seats with Ham, making Ham sit next to Bart.
Continuity mistake: When Homer is walking upstairs after kicking Patty and Selma out for the second time, the wall that Homer was approaching is a darker colour than it usually is, and Homer walked up the stairs slowly. But a second later he closed a door, indicating that he went into a room. Are we really to believe that he could go very quickly from the stairs to a room in a matter of seconds?
Continuity mistake: When one of the pockets of Marge's coat explodes (when Homer is stealing the rare Gummi), a huge pile of candy comes pouring out. Let's try it right now." We see Smithers, whose expression doesn't change as the two go back into Burn's office. In 'Who Shot Mr Burns Part 2', Smithers remembers this event, except now he looks quite shocked when Burns mentions about taking the candy.

Continuity mistake: In 'Nightmare Cafeteria,' in the opening shot we see Bart standing on a desk in the back row. It cuts to a closeup, and he is now on a desk in the second row from the back, as well as people appearing around him, such as Milhouse, who wasn't even in the classroom in the opening shot.
Continuity mistake: When Homer is trying to get Ned another woman in a different episode, he tells him that there was some footage of Maggie being born that he couldn't get rid of on the tape but in the scene (in this episode)when Maggie is being born there are no video cameras in sight.
Continuity mistake: The location of the comet in the sky changes direction at several points. Whilst it's apparent size and altitude will of course change, the direction it is coming from cannot. As an example, it is seen looming over the power plant towers, but when Ned is on the hill, it's no longer there.

Continuity mistake: When Mr. Burns pushes the child on the swings, he somehow manages to defy the laws of physics. When he pushes the child forward for the last time, he swings forward, then back, hitting Mr. Burns in the head. He then swings forward again, hitting Mr. Burns from behind. Mr Burns starts saying "You've won this round..." and the child then hits Mr. Burns from behind again. In order for this to happen, he would have to go completely around between the second and third hits and you clearly see he doesn't.
Continuity mistake: Before Marge sees Homer parking violation, if you look at where he is parked over the first handicapped spot there is a car parked in the first non-handicapped spot. A bit before Marge arrests him there is now a non-handicapped spot between the car and Homer's car.

Continuity mistake: In the last scene when Homer is about to attempt the loop trick, it is seen several times that the Mafia guys are not standing in a straight line. In all shots they are except the one where Homer fails, and then says "Ta da,". The Mafia are shown head to head in a straight line.
Continuity mistake: Early on in this episode, Mr Burns says something like "this positivly has to be there overnight", the shot goes closer on every word or so. You can see that the background behind Mr Burns is that of the Plant. But when the shot zooms out, the background is now of one of the corridors.

Continuity mistake: By the vending machine, Lisa first points her card at the cell on the right, then there's a zoom on the cells and we see her hand starting to point again, but this time at the cell in the middle. In the next shot, she lowers her hand with the card, which however in this shot is pointing at the cell on the right again.
Continuity mistake: When Mr. Burns falls onto the sundial, everybody starts gathering around. Marge is there, with Maggie. She left Maggie in the car and seeing as she went off to look for Homer, Bart, Lisa and Grandpa and that she was one of the first on the scene when Mr. Burns collaspses, it would be difficult to run back and get Maggie from the car.
Continuity mistake: In 'The Shinning,' Homer is chasing his family with an axe. They are hiding behind a curtain, and then they run outside, away from Homer, opening only one of the double doors. In the following overhead shot of them running through the snow, both doors are now open.

Continuity mistake: At the end of 'The Shining, ' the family sits in the snow, Homer holding Willie's portable TV. Later, when they're frozen, Homer is holding nothing, although the TV's snow-topped antenna is still there. Additionally, Homer's left shoulder is missing. This is all due to the lack of correct colorization.
