Still Charmed & Kicking - S8-E1
Question: I'm confused or maybe I missed something, but why is it when we come to the first episode of series 8 that Leo is back from being frozen? How did that happen? Then he is gone again, only to be seen as a ghostly figure by Piper in another episode, then he only reappears in episode 21 like he has only just come out of being frozen. Am I really missing something here?
Still Charmed & Kicking - S8-E1
Question: Why do the sisters keep changing their appearance throughout a few episodes? We're there issues with replacement actresses that caused the changes? Victor references that they keep changing identities but there is no good explanation as to why.
Answer: You have to watch the previous episodes but basically they are pretending to be dead. They cast a spell to change their appearance in which only Victor and each other can see them for who they are. Their appearance keeps changing because they can't decide what to look like.
Question: How can the Hollow come from a box in The Seers' lair in one episode, but later come from the space in the basement where The Woogy is holed up?
Question: When Grams talks with Patty on the phone, Phoebe was surprised that their mom said she had a premonition, and then mentioned that Prue told her that Patty had the power of freezing. How did she or any of the girls know what kind of power Patty could have?
Answer: Most likely from the Book of Shadows, since it's not only a spell book, but a history of the Hallewell line.
I think the Book of Shadows is not a diary. Yeah, they've read about Melinda and Brianna Warren, but that's all I remember, and they were in for a reason: the line started with Melinda, and Brianna fought a clan-lord. Later in season 2, they had to look the family tree to find out who P. Russell was. The Book of Shadows said nothing about the cousins, otherwise Phoebe didn't have to go back in time to find out what happened to her past life. So I don't think there's a "Patty page" in the book, otherwise the girls wouldn't have been surprised that they had powers when they were children. But if it was, why Prue was asked about Patty's power? Phoebe was the one who spent the most time with the book and not Prue, she should've known better.
Answer: Grams probably told them.
Question: Is there any reference to other witches, besides the sisters, that have vanquished a source? Or are they the only witches ever to be powerful enough? The source does have the ability to be reconstituted with a spell in the grimoire.
Answer: The sisters are the only witches that have been powerful enough to vanquish the source, gaining their strength from the power of 3.
The Truth Is Out There... and It Hurts - S1-E8
Question: How come in this episode when Andy asks Pru if her kids will inherit powers she says "If they're girls, they will"? Why will only the girls inherit their powers? We know this is not true, both Wyatt and Chris have powers, Wyatt has them even before he is born.
Answer: Honestly that was Pru when she was inexperienced in the craft. she didn't understand that men could be witches too because "Grams" made her believe so. In the the episode 'Secrets and Guys' the sisters discover that "Grams" was wrong and that men could be witches too. Later in the series the sisters even acknowledge this fact and use the term male witch throughout, eg. the season three episode titled 'Blinded by the Whitelighter' when Phoebe has a premonition of a male witch being attacked by the evil warlock Ames, played by S. Valentine.
Answer: The "only female witches" rule only applied to the Warren line, Wyatt and Chris got their powers as they were the first males to be born from a witch and a white lighter, that changed history completely since it was forbidden for witches and white lighters to have intimacy before Piper and Leo Prue was not wrong.
Question: Why does Leo have powers in this episode that we never see him use again? Levitating for example, reheating a cup of coffee. The refilling the water could be explained by his normal white-lighter powers. I think it's probably because the writers changed their minds about what exactly would constitute white-lighter powers. However how is this explained, in canon? Leo as far as I remember doesn't levitate again, neither does Paige or Chris. It isn't as far as I remember established as a white-lighter power.
Answer: He does levitate in the 4th season finale, when Piper allows him to do so (despite her not wanting to jinx their new peace by doing magic) in order to properly place a framed picture.
Question: Throughout season 8, Christy and Billie have been described as the "Ultimate Power" by various sources. Why are they, these two relatively young and inexperienced witches, described as the ultimate power when the battle ready and experienced Charmed Ones have come up against centuries old demons and beings with far more powers, such as The Source of All Evil, Barbas, Zankou, Cole etcetera?
Chosen answer: Because they are unique from the previous demons (like the Source, Zankou, et al) because they are witches and human (and the sisters have not vanquished mortals before), and because Billie is a friend of the Halliwell sisters, and they trained her personally (making her the last person the sisters would think of as a threat). This makes it a difficult moral quandry for the Charmed Ones, since they care about Billie and aren't enthusiastic about killing humans (unlike demons, whom they will hunt and kill without the moral problem). Also, Billie's thought projection power (a rare and formidable power) combined with Christy's telepathy and fire-starting ability make their combined powers incredibly strong, enough to challenge the Charmed Ones.
Question: Some episodes towards the end of season 6 feature different end credits with a Warner Brothers logo but in some repeats they replace them with the normal credits - why?
Answer: Because that show was first created by Warner Bros, not CW.
Size Matters - S4-E5
Question: At the end of this episode Leo goes outside to heal the glass from the sign of P3. In a previous episode (Season 3 - The Magic Hour) when Christopher is injured in owl form he explains he can't heal animals. An animals genetic makeup would be a lot more similar to a human's, so why can Leo heal glass but not animals?
Answer: There are a lot of factors involved in who and what types of injuries can be healed, or can't be healed, by a Whitelighter, so their powers are limited. The ability to "heal" glass and clothes is more of a mending or restoring ability. But, the trigger for healing is love, so it seems (with speculation) this "Love trigger" only applies to human-to-human love. In addition, there are restrictions for Whitelighters and they're only suppose to heal wounds inflicted by evil, so it's possible animal injuries aren't caused by evil and thus can't be healed.
Thanks for the response - hmm I see what you're saying as that had all occurred to me too however Leo healed Piper's finger after she cut it not by evil but by cooking in the kitchen in "Blinded by the Whitelighter." As for the restoring glass and clothes this is the only time I can recall that he does this as a whitelighter. I'm a big fan of the show and grew up watching it but after my 20th re-watch I realised that had always puzzled me. Still a brilliant show regardless! Thanks again.
We All Scream for Ice Cream - S3-E10
Question: What is the original song playing in the background as Victor enters? Some of the lyrics are "get you out of my head," "you're like a sexual high," "get out of my head".
Answer: This is according to Tunefind: The Cause by the band "27".
Question: How is it that when Piper and Leo go to the past before Phoebe is born, Patty already knows about "the charmed ones"? I have been under the understanding that they are the only ones in existence, so how does she know about the concept of "The Charmed Ones'? Was it a prophecy or something?
Chosen answer: Yes, Melinda Warren prophesied that each generation of Warren witches would grow stronger than the next, culminating in the arrival of three sisters. Each having one of her powers.
Question: Was Brian Krause unavailable for this series, using the 'frozen' storyline as a cover? It seems strange that Leo only returns at the end of the series.
Chosen answer: Due to budget cuts in the final season, Brian Krause was left out much of the series.
Question: Series 8 started airing in the U.S in September of last year and the U.K early this year. It will end in the US 3 weeks before the UK. Why if there was such a large difference in original airdates are they finishing so close together?
Answer: This is down to the ways that the respective countries show series. The U.S. will often stop in mid-series and show repeats, dragging out a series of twenty-odd episodes over forty or more weeks, whereas the U.K. will just run straight through a series from beginning to end. As a result, the U.K. tend to catch up, or, as has happened on a few occasions, actually overtake the U.S. schedule.
Question: Just wondering why we don't see exactly how Prue dies and how Cole and Phoebe make it back from the underworld at the end of Season 3. Is it because Shannon Doherty left the show and they had to try to fill in the gaps?
Answer: Prue's death was never shown because the show wasn't sure it would continue after Season 3. The cliff hanger left the audience believing all three sisters would die (Prue and Piper at the hands of Shax, and Phoebe by the Source). The show was picked back up for 5 more seasons, but Shannen left. Rose was hired on to be half sister, Paige, so as not to recast Prue, and once they began filming, they didn't have Shannen to film an explanation (they also couldn't use her in later seasons as she owned her image, and it was illegal for Charmed to use it without her permission. This is also why you don't see pictures of Prue in the series finale, and why the shot shot of her from the back in "Cat House" was a body double). So instead what we received was Piper angry at Leo for healing "the wrong sister" as he healed Piper first (from the damage we saw inflicted in the last episode of season 3) and it must have been too late to heal Prue - unfortunately we just weren't able to see the immediate after effects of Shax's attack.
Love Hurts - S1-E21
Question: Piper and Leo switch powers so Piper can heal him. Leo ends up dying but Piper finds the trigger to the healing power after his death. How come she is able to bring him back to life when in later episodes it is revealed that Leo's healing power cannot bring the dead back to life?
Chosen answer: It probably meant that it couldn't bring humans back to life, magical or not. As a Whitelighter, Leo is technically not human because he's already died as a mortal. The only way to heal a Whitelighter from the poison that "kills" them is to be healed with the healing power of a Whitelighter.
Question: Why weren't the Charmed Ones allowed to see Prue after her death yet were allowed to see grams as well as their mother?
Answer: On top of not being able to see while you're still grieving, Shannon Doherty cost too much for the Charmed budget to bring her back in that sense.
Chosen answer: They are allowed to see a dead relative, just not as soon as they die. It gives the sisters time to grieve. Grams and the mother have been dead many years, therefore they are not grieving for them as much.
Question: Why didn't Prue ever make cameos after she died like her mother and grandmother did from time to time?
Answer: Shannen Doherty (who played Prue) really wanted to leave the show beginning of season 3. There was tension between her and Alyssa Milano and she had a hard time working with others who didn't seem to care about the show as much as she did. When she told the show's producers she wanted to leave (get out of her contact early) she was told "no." Once she was done with her contact, she simply had no desire to return to the show, even for a cameo. The other characters who died during the show weren't part of main cast and under contact, so to them, doing an episode here or there wasn't a big deal. To Doherty, there would have been too much drama (and probably hatred). There were also reports that Doherty didn't give her permission for her likeness to be used after she left, although show producers said they didn't use any of her likeness due to budget issues.
Chosen answer: Leo gets frozen in Season 8 episode 10 called Vaya Con Leos. In season 7 he was never frozen because the Angel of Death doesn't try to take him away until that episode. He is seen in season 7 and thee finale when he tries to get into the house after the explosion and the sisters tell him of their plan to change identities.
